Question from IamObiagu (09:44, 15 July 2022)
Thanks, Mentor.
I just created an account and am trying to see if I can make my first edit.
What happens when I am not very familiar with a subject? Do I research or look them up on social media and all? --IamObiagu (talk) 09:44, 15 July 2022 (UTC)

Question from Stylus AzN (13:37, 27 July 2022)
Hello, Basically I want to show my overall career history here. Please guide me through the process so that my page doesn't get rejected or deleted. --Stylus AzN (talk) 13:37, 27 July 2022 (UTC)
- Hello, Please who exactly are you in real life? In the first place Wikipedia doesn't accept that someone creates an article about himself. However if you're notable based on the Wikipedia criteria then someone can use that and create an article about you. If you could provide the information of who you are then may be someone can pick it up and create it. Kindly note that there are rules and criteria for notability for biographies. Thank you. Question from LexLen (08:03, 10 August 2022)
Hi Ampimd, I am a brand-new Wikipedia user, and my intention is to add a page about the DeskProto software that our company produces. This might be seen as self promotion, however who can better describe the product's history than the creator. The concept page is now in my sandbox. The problem that I have is with the images: 1. it is impossible to upload an image with a screenshot. Not really critical, the page is also fine without images. 2. after some tries I was able to upload in image with the DeskProto logo. However, I now see that the license allows anyone to copy, distribute and adapt the work, which is not intended. So I'd like to remove this file from Wikimedia, but I now see that only administrators can do that. Are you an administrator, and if yes can you please remove the file DeskProtoLogoMetAchtergrond-3000x1500.jpg ? Thanks in advance, Lex. --LexLen (talk) 08:03, 10 August 2022 (UTC)
Can you explain your revert of the referenced update of club for this player, which you called vandalism? TylerBurden (talk) 13:04, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
- Which source confirmed the transfer? The sources added are all reported transfers. Neither Newcastle nor Real Sociedad has confirmed the transfer. There are reports that Alexander Isak is set to sign for Newcastle in a club-record $74M deal from Real Sociedad, per multiple reports. That does not mean he has signed officially.
- With that, there is too much edit warring with just that subject and arising in over 30 edits back and forth. The right thing is to wait for the right sources to confirm not news outlets and media reports. Ampimd (talk) 13:09, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
- If you check the edits, most of them are vandalism reversions, not edit warring about the team. https://theathletic.com/3534157/2022/08/24/newcastle-alexander-isak-transfer/ confirms the deal, but I suppose it doesn't hurt to wait for the teams themselves, it just seems a bit redundant when numerous sources have reported the deal as being complete. TylerBurden (talk) 13:14, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
- Well, I agree it is redundant and probably becomes a formality. However best practices wins in this case. Because The media outlets are not the official people to report the deal. Just like the Casemiro deal. The deal was confirmed by several media outlets, credible outlets. However, until the two teams or at least one which in this case was Manchester United, announced the transfer, they would be assumed as speculations and reported transfers. That makes it more credible.
- It doesn't hurt to wait for the teams themselves as you confirmed that is why I believe at the moment what we are doing by waiting is the best. After the teams have confirmed, the write up could be,
- On 24 August 2022, multiple media outlets reported that Newcastle had signed Isak on a club-record $74M deal from Real Sociedad. Three days after the reports, Newcastle announced that the signing of Isak, subject to visa and medicals. Ampimd (talk) 18:40, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
- Yea, I probably jumped the gun a little bit. Something crazy could always happen and the deal collapses, so might as well wait until it is set in stone. The media reports could possibly be added to the article, without changing the infobox etc, that was done on Erling Haaland's move to City if I recall correctly. TylerBurden (talk) 19:59, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
- I like your thought process and your honesty. The deal has been confirmed by Newcastle so you are good to go now. I would be here to support. Cheers!! Ampimd (talk) 13:47, 26 August 2022 (UTC)

Please do not add or change content, as you did at Florent Ibengé, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. GiantSnowman 08:34, 26 August 2022 (UTC)
- No problem, thanks for the notice. That was not the plan, as you noticed, I had started adding the references. Next time I would cite all the sources before I finish editing the article and publishing. It was not yet complete. Thank you. Ampimd (talk) 10:22, 26 August 2022 (UTC)

Question from Lsju63 on Kenneth Lee Pike (20:37, 21 September 2022)
Hi. Does Wikipedia have a standard policy about how many spaces writers (and editors) should use at the end of sentences--one or two?
Some people insist on two. I believe that many of them are in their mid-30s or older (i.e. people who received their instruction in typewriting b0efore the widespread use of the personal computer and variable fonts) and their children and grandchildren.
There's also the matter of consistency. In the Wikipedia article that I've just finished editing, I found such inconsistency in every paragraph--some sentences with one space at the end, others with two. --Lsju63 (talk) 20:38, 21 September 2022 (UTC)

Question from MrHyperForEver (10:42, 1 October 2022)
Hy, I have some question related sources which can be mentioned in articles regarding different castes and tribes of India.
1. Can British official colonial records (reports, cencuses, official publications) texts be used as sources?
2. Can books of famous British ethnologists such as H.A Rose be used as sources?
3. Can books such as :-
a) Origins and History of Jats and Other Allied Nomadic Tribes of India: 900 B.C.-1947 A.D.
b)The Rajputs: History, Clans, Culture, and Nobility
be used as sources?
4. Can indirect sources be used such as a source refers a person X as a member of caste Y Jatts, can we give a ref to this same source to the caste Y Wikipedia article saying caste Y is of Jatt origin but the sources isn't even discussing about the cast Y origins?
In hope of a reply. --MrHyperForEver (talk) 10:42, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
