Welcome!

Welcome!

Hello, American Eagle, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. —C.Fred (talk) 05:07, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Kidscorner, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. - Jameson L. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Justin Eiler (talk) 04:04, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Userboxes

There is a page at Wikipedia:Userboxes that explains how to make the boxes. There is also a long list of links to pre-made boxes. Based on your user name and the information there, User:UBX/Userboxes/Religion might be of interest to you. For example putting {{User:UBX/Christianity}} on your user page will give you User:UBX/Christianity. Hope that helps. CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 04:33, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading :Image:Jay in 2007.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 07:39, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

I noticed that you changed this article to remove correct capitalization; I've changed it back for you. Please, try to make sure, if you're copyediting, that your changes are correct. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 21:52, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

I noticed that you changed this article to remove correct punctuation; adding errors to articles is a form of vandalism, so you should be careful not to do it any more. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 21:53, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

To the person above

I never intentionally vandalized or ruined anything, and I am sorry if I messed up or changed any punctuation. Any corrections I have made were for the purpose of correcting it, and I have fixed several things beside that. Again I am sorry for any damage done and I'll do better next time. Note: I wrote that message on 22:21, March 8, 2008, and didn't sign it. :P American Eagle (talk) 05:01, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

User boxes

I came to see how you were getting on with them and noticed Template:User Basket of ball. I made a slight adjustment to the image for size here. What I suggest you do is make the word basketball lower case and link it. Then move it to User:America Needs Jesus/Basketball and link it at Wikipedia:Userboxes/Sports#Ball games. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 11:45, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

I deleted Template:User Basket of ball.‎ and User:America Needs Jesus/Basketball1‎. I fixed the User:America Needs Jesus/Basketball‎ so that is on your user page and at Wikipedia:Userboxes/Sports#Ball games. Have fun. CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 13:27, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Team Up

You, me, and User:Libertyville need to start working together on things. We are all conservatives, Christians, proud Americans, and supporters of the troops. Another user you might want to work with is User:Mayor Coffee Bean. Saksjn (talk) 13:10, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

The kind of team up I'm talking about would be similar to the one that I have with User:Mayor Coffee Bean. Basically we notify eachother of pages were working on and discussions we're involved in so that we can support each other. No big time commitment, just helping each other out. Saksjn (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 19:51, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Be cautious; a WikiProject that works to support better writing is very useful, but to be perceived as working together to promote a specific point of view would be a violation of Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, and would be problematic. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 20:30, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

I decide not to affiliate with a denomenation becasue I believe that division in the church is wrong. As far as churches and groups I've been involved with that ranges from methodist to baptist to assembly of God to non-denomenational. The most acurate way to describe my philosophy would be YWAM teachings. I just simply want us to let each other know what aritlces were working on and what talk pages we need help on. Saksjn (talk) 13:30, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

Some of the stuff in the YWAM article is about small isolated controversial events. Most are false, and the ones that are true were, like I said, isolated events that were dealt with. I've grown up in YWAM and never ran into the controversial teachings mentioned in the article. If you have any questions just ask me. Saksjn (talk) 01:23, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Whale article

I added some catergories to it. It looks pretty good to me, keep up the good work! Saksjn (talk) 13:00, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi!

I'm glad you like my nick.  :) I tried registering "Jesus' disciple" somewhere and (as it was taken) got "Jesdisciple" suggested. I've used it ever since. BTW, yours is true.

I hope you aren't expecting me to be available to help you on here, because I normally only look stuff up if I'm curious. Then if I see some poor grammar/punctuation I fix it.

Be blessed and pass it on! --Jesdisciple (talk) 17:25, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Test?

I know this might not be the best place or time to talk about this, but I wanted to comment on the needgod.com test that your user page links to. I understand that the test is meant to make people realize that they need God and His Son is the only way to salvation, but I think that if someone who was not a Christian were to come across the test they would be thoroughly offended. Obviously just the fact that it mentions God in a good light would be offending to some. But that isn’t what I’m talking about. I’m talking about the fact that it doesn't mention anything about the forgiveness of sins. Anyone who is truthful would answer that they had told lies, lusted, taken the name of God in vain, etc. Everyone has. But the test automatically says that you are going to hell if you answer yes to those questions. Only a perfect person would be able to pass the test and none of us are perfect. But all of us are not going to hell. Those who accept the perfect sacrifice of Jesus will not be condemned. The test leaves this out and would completely turn a non-Christian off to Christianity. I know you have no control over the test but I was rather surprised that you would have a link to it on your user page. I’m not trying to offend you or anything; I just wanted to share my thoughts. I used to be skeptical of Christianity myself and that test probably would have made me very mad had I taken it then. Thanks for taking the time to read this and congratulations on being one of the very few Christian Wikipedians! --Andrew from NC (talk) 08:25, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Deletions

I got the request right as you sent it. CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 04:10, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Your username

Hi -- another user has complained about your username, and I have to agree, it's a bit over the top and will offend some people (for instance, those who are non-Christian Americans). Wikipedia's username policy disallows offensive usernames. Are you willing to change your username? It's quite easy to do: just leave a request at Wikipedia:Changing username including the new username you want, and it'll be taken care of; your contributions would all be transfered to the new username, and your user pages would be moved. If you want to discuss your name or the policy first, I'll be watching for your response here (or you can leave a message at my talk page). Mangojuicetalk 13:58, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

I presume you're referring to the short discussion at User talk:America Needs Satan. That discussion really doesn't support the conclusion that either of those names are okay -- it's circular reasoning. And I checked; those two are the only "America Needs" usernames. Regardless, I think neither one is okay -- your username is supposed to identify you. You may of course express your religious or personal opinions within reason but not in your username. If you like, we can go to WP:RFCN where we can get some more opinions. Would you prefer that? Mangojuicetalk 17:12, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
The line that is often drawn in this kind of case is that simple expressions of faith (e.g. User:ChristianJoe) are allowed, but usernames that promote a religion are normally disallowed. The username policy doesn't explicitly say this anymore but it used to: see [1]. (The removal of that from the policy was based on a general desire to lay out principles rather than deal with specific examples, not because this particular rule fell into disfavor.) Mangojuicetalk 19:02, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
I'm just trying to inform you about what the Wikipedia standards are in this area. Clearly you are a good-faith contributor, so I'm hoping that once you have a clearer idea of what the standards are you'll change your mind. "America Needs Jesus" certainly seems to be promoting a religion to me, rather than a mere expression of faith. Do you disagree with that? Do you disagree with that rule? (Basically, I'm not going straight to WP:RFCN because I want to make sure that one-on-one discussion can't resolve the issue first.) Mangojuicetalk 19:23, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Ok, I've started the discussion there. It's at WP:RFCN#America Needs Jesus; you may want to express your opinion there before others get started. Mangojuicetalk 19:48, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I said that to try to keep any closing admin from blocking you without giving you a chance to change your name on your own first. So you're agreeing to change your name now, right? I will close the debate then, so you don't get blocked. Mangojuicetalk 11:58, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
To expedite things, I made the request properly; you can see it at WP:USURP near the bottom. (Just to help things along, you might want to sign the request.) It will take 7 days if the other user doesn't respond but in some cases they may explicitly agree before that. (In any case, I really wouldn't worry about having to wait.) Your user subpages can be moved once the name change is completed; just click on the "move" button for any that don't get done by the Bureaucrat, or I can help. Mangojuicetalk 18:46, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
Don't worry about the userboxes; if the userbox page is moved they'll still show up just fine. Mangojuicetalk 19:47, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Just a question

Hi there, seeing you are a practicing Christian, I would just like to know what are your opinions or attitudes to the religion of Islam? and how American's approach it, the differences between us, and the beliefs of the revelation of God. Thanks a lot! Moshino31 (talk) 18:07, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Well, we Muslims believe that God doesnt have any relatives or partners: 'He is one'. We believe that same as Muhammad, Jesus was also the prophet of God who has come to reveal the message of God to the people - he is a normal human being, the only thing we believe is that the message did not go to the people very well. Christians, Muslims and Jews are all the people of the book - The Bible, The Qur'an and the Tawrat. We believe that, God (Allah) has sent Muhammad to reveal the true meaning of the worship of God - by the angel Gabriel (Jibreel), through the noble Qur'an. The Qur'an is all Allah's words revealed to Muhammad which was passed on to humanity. The Qur'an reveals all the aspects of worshipping Allah and life and the afterlife. It also has all the explanations of science, e.g. the development of the embryo, all this was revealed to Muhammad in the 7th century, when this has been discovered since now.

And the terrorists are only individuals, it does not represent the religion of Islam. These people are so-called Muslims, because Islam does not teach terrorism in the Qur'an, it strictly forbids any person to commit suicide. They believe they are doing it for the will of Allah, but Allah has not commanded that to us Muslims to commit this act, please view Jihad. Moshino31 (talk) 16:11, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Yes, our religion put's a lot of emphasis on praying to God, so we think about him everyday of our lives and worship him and so it helps us to never go astray from the worship of God and the religion. As for the headscarves, the reason why they wear it is because, it prevents men from attempting thier desires, and is a more like a protection for the woman, it is like diamonds for example. It is for modesty and fulfilling God's commands.... and about the North American Union, I never heard of this but is it like the European Union? If it is then, I think it a great idea I think, it can control many areas of concern in the region, like immigration, terrorism etc. and having your own currency, it will be good. It will improve economic and social ties between the three countries and help Mexico develop, so great idea I believe. Moshino31 (talk) 21:48, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Hi there thankyou for your comments, but I do not know that much about the North American Union sorry. There are so many converts in the States who found the right path of Islam, please learn more about the religion of Islam. Please view the videos, thanks! (my last message!!!) Deletion of HisKids

I deleted the article because it was nominated for speedy deletion with the reason of A7: "An article about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant." This criteria applied to the article I saw. When I deleted it, there was no indication as to why this was an important or notable company. Some of these indications might include awards and significant verifiable and reliable coverage from independent third parties. If you'd like I can provide you with a copy of the deleted text as a subpage of your userpage. Generally this is for the purpose of improving the article content and sources before recreating it in Wikipedia mainspace. This means it shouldn't be parked in your userspace indefinitely but only for a few weeks or a month. If you don't actively work on improving it there, it may be deleted again, even from your userspace. Let me know what you want to do. Cheers, Pigman 22:34, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Accidents, Not Punishments

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Accidents, Not Punishments, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. AfD nomination of Accidents, Not Punishments

I have nominated Accidents, Not Punishments, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Accidents, Not Punishments. AFD discussion

I apologize if I seemed harsh in any way during the discussion. My beliefs are similar to yours (Baptist), but I only argued according to what I thought was the correct interpretation of Wikipedia policy. Again, apologies for any feelings hurt. Noble Story (talk) 03:11, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

No offense, but all deletions were within Wikipedia deletion policy. I think you should just make sure that your articles meet the notability guidelines before you create them. That'll save you a lot of time and trouble. Noble Story (talk) 12:04, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
I don't think you should get too discouraged about it. We all had problems like that at the beginning, (my first article went through a similar processs) but you'll eventually have no problems. However, one note: Usually, an external link just by itself does not give a particular article notability. It has to be a link about it from an independent source. Also, blogs and personal websites aren't usually accepted as "reliable" sources. I think if you keep that in mind then you'll have a lot more success in the future. Regards, Noble Story (talk) 00:42, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

It's cool to see christians taking a stand. Not too many more of us around. I hear that amoung the youth generation there are only 4% actual christians. Drop me a line any time. Remember xenocidic. Well he taught me how to use WP:QUI which is an easy way to show your status and it shows your friends status as well. I thought that was interesting.--Ezekiel †alk 17:37, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Christianity Newsletter

You may have noticed that the Christianity newsletter has a section for comments from members. I was wondering whether you'd be interested in writing a section for the August newsletter about the Simple English Wikipedia and its Christianity content. Also, you might be interested in the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Christianity#Simple English wikipedia joint project. John Carter (talk) 18:05, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

Admin box on your user page

Hi,

I briefly deleted your Simple English Admin userbox, as I evidently can't read and thought you were claiming to be one on en-wiki. However, FYI, please note the "verify" link in the box goes to a link concerning your en-wiki account, not your Simple account. You may want to change it to the right link: [4]; I'd do it myself, but I'm hesitant to keep messing with your stuff. --barneca (talk) 05:29, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

All fixed now. Gwib is another administrator on Simple and I just took his UBX without checking its links. Thanks, barneca. -- American Eagle (talk) 05:42, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
Ah, I see you re-formatted everything anyway. Just FYI, I think I fixed Gwib's userbox, so you can use it now if you ever change your mind. --barneca (talk) 05:48, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
