Your GA nomination of Ever 17: The Out of Infinity

The article Ever 17: The Out of Infinity you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Ever 17: The Out of Infinity for comments about the article. Well done! Pulling in PresN for this. Now that Adventures of Mana is an article on Wikipedia, the retention period for it to be part of the Mana series has begun. It will have to be at least a Good Article before May 5th or the topic will be demoted. GamerPro64 22:22, 5 February 2016 (UTC)

Sounds doable. I'm not familiar with how good/featured topics work on Wikipedia, but I do intend to help improve the article.--IDVtalk 00:07, 6 February 2016 (UTC)
Once we bulk up the reception section it should be C class, so once that happens remember to up class to C. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 00:55, 6 February 2016 (UTC)
Want to nominate this for GA? I could help you with it, it should pass pretty easily. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 20:57, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
@Judgesurreal777: I am pretty happy with the article, but I'd like to do some more work on the reception section first. I imagine I'll be nominating it sometime tomorrow.--IDVtalk 21:22, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
Sounds great, I can always assist with the reviewers notes if any. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 21:28, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

Huh, I never got this ping. @GamerPro64: please note that in addition to the soon-to-be-GAN'd Adventures of Mana, there's also Rise of Mana, which was created and taken through to GA by ProtoDrake since you left this original message. Judge and IDV seem to have Adventure well in hand, so whenever that gets to GA I'll make a supplemental nom to add both articles. --PresN 01:28, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

@PresN, GamerPro64, and Judgesurreal777: All right, so I have done what I wanted to do with the reception section, and nominated the article.--IDVtalk 19:34, 12 February 2016 (UTC)
@PresN, GamerPro64, and Judgesurreal777: So, both Rise of Mana and Adventures of Mana are Good Articles now. Did you want to make that GT nomination, PresN?--IDVtalk 17:48, 17 March 2016 (UTC)
Now done: Wikipedia:Featured topic candidates/Mana series/addition1. --PresN 18:20, 17 March 2016 (UTC)

Again

I think I accidentally reverted that since my Tablet is really sensitive. Thanks for reverting it.Tintor2 (talk) 17:49, 6 March 2016 (UTC)

Hey, I was wondering, you seem to be good at finding Japanese sources, and I'm working on this Kingdom Hearts article that was originally just a japanese release. If you have a chance, I would greatly appreciate your help in identifying some japanese sources for the article. Thanks for any assistance you can offer! Judgesurreal777 (talk) 19:34, 7 March 2016 (UTC)

@Judgesurreal777: I don't really know anything about the KH series, and I'm not particularly good at Japanese yet - I have to spend a significant amount of time on reading the Japanese sources, so I only resort to them when there's not a lot of coverage in English RSs or when I just need a specific easy-to-find detail, like a Japanese release date. Just searching for the Japanese title in the video game wikiproject's custom google search gives you quite a few articles, though - here's an interview with the developers, which I got on the first page of a search for "キングダム ハーツ コーデッド". If you need translation help, you're better off asking someone who's fluent in the language.--IDVtalk 19:52, 7 March 2016 (UTC)
Thanks! Appreciate the help looking, I'll see what I can do :) Judgesurreal777 (talk) 19:53, 7 March 2016 (UTC)

Adventures of Mana has been nominated for Did You Know

SMT: Imagine

Hey, I noticed that you're planning on doing work on Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine. I was thinking of doing just that. Would you like me to leave the sources I've collected with you? I managed to find plenty of development information, stuff about gameplay, and several reviews. --ProtoDrake (talk) 22:53, 20 March 2016 (UTC)

@ProtoDrake: Well, I'm planning on doing Fault Milestone One and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Justice for All first, and might end up working on Trials and Tribulations as well while I'm at it, so it could take some time before I get to Imagine. But yes, feel free to list the sources you found here or on the Imagine talk page. Know that my Japanese is quite weak, though, so if they're in Japanese you might be better suited for this than I am.--IDVtalk 23:14, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
Yes, they are nearly all in Japanese. I'm in the final stages of doing a rewrite of Kid Icarus: Uprising at the moment, but once that's finished and after a suitable break, I'll probably do an article rewrite for Imagine. After that, I might finally be able to get round to the series article for Chaos Rings. --ProtoDrake (talk) 23:16, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
@ProtoDrake: All right, I'll let you handle Imagine, then. Good luck with it and your other projects - I had actually not heard of Chaos Rings until now, so it'll be interesting to read that article when you're done with it, and I loved Kid Icarus: Uprising, so that will be nice to see reworked as well.--IDVtalk 23:23, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
Oh yeah, I may or may not decide to take it further, but..... I've found development references for Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner and put them on the talk page. And I can say that I've seen other GAs with worse sources than that in recent years... --ProtoDrake (talk) 23:31, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
@ProtoDrake: Cool, I'll take a look at the Devil Summoner stuff when I get the time. Really wish that game would get localized.--IDVtalk 23:52, 20 March 2016 (UTC)

I've finished my work on Imagine. It's been both harder and easier than I thought. I'm not sure whether I'll take it any further myself. Oh, and I've been doing some digging around and found sources for the two PS2 Devil Summoner games and Soul Hackers. I left them on their talk pages. I'm not sure whether the PS2 games will manage to stay as seperate articles forever, but the source I've found might just facilitate that so they don't go the same way Digital Devil Saga had to. I'm vaguely toying with the idea of taking on maybe one of the Devil Summoner games (maybe even Soul Hackers, who knows). At the moment, I'll try and force myself to take a bit of a break from big editing projects. --ProtoDrake (talk) 21:33, 24 March 2016 (UTC)

@ProtoDrake: Really nice work. If you want to take Imagine to GA, I'd be glad to do the review. And yeah, I noticed your refidea additions popping up on my watchlist. I haven't taken a look at the sources, so I assume you know best whether there's enough to support two Raidou articles - I'm guessing there's enough for two reception sections, but I have no idea if there's enough for two separate development sections. My understanding - which might be wrong as I haven't finished DDSaga 1 or Raidou 1, and haven't played their sequels - was that DDSaga was essentially "one game split across two releases" while Raidou was more of two separate games in a series, so perhaps the situation is different. I don't really mind either way - whatever presentation works the best should be used, even though it of course would be nice to have two well-developed Raidou articles, similarly to the two articles on the Persona 2 games. If we're doing Soul Hackers, I have already written a reception section for it on the Swedish Wikipedia, which could be translated, edited and used here. I have also started writing a plot section, which I could finish up and translate as well. But yeah, feel free to take a break anytime. I don't do nearly as much work here as you do, but I still feel burned out sometimes after writing/re-writing articles.--IDVtalk 22:00, 24 March 2016 (UTC)

Update

I've finished my editing work on Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner. I've done everything except the "Plot" section, which for obvious reasons is more than a little.... Well, a little. I hope it's helped the article along a bit. --ProtoDrake (talk) 20:20, 10 April 2016 (UTC)

@ProtoDrake: I was expecting Devil Summoner to be the one major Megami Tensei article to never get expanded much beyond start-class, but I'm happy you proved me wrong! It's beautiful. And yeah, plot sections are always a pain, especially when the game is a Japan-exclusive. I remember reading about a fan translation project a year or so ago, but haven't heard anything since. Really hope it gets made available in English in one way or another - aside from it just being great to get another Megami Tensei game to play, it would make it much more easy to "finish" this article.--IDVtalk 21:34, 10 April 2016 (UTC)

Hey, I've finished the work I want to do on Shin Megami Tensei: NINE. If you want to take it to GA, I won't stop you. I was planning to myself, but I've got way too much on my plate GA-wise already (Devil Summoner and Tales of Zestiria). --ProtoDrake (talk) 23:13, 25 April 2016 (UTC)

I'll have to read through the article properly tomorrow, but sure, I don't mind taking it through GAN. I'd like to help out with some GA reviews, but I'm one of those people who dislike seeing story "spoilers", and I haven't played either of Devil Summoner or Tales of Zestiria.--IDVtalk 01:01, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
You don't have to touch DS and ToZ. It wasn't an ask, just an update that I'd finished working on a difficult article. --ProtoDrake (talk) 07:11, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, I just felt that I kinda owed you a GA review since you took on Justice for All. But yeah, as always, I'm very happy with your edits on articles like Devil Summoner, Imagine and Nine - they're the kind of articles that feel like they'd never develop much otherwise.--IDVtalk 08:54, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
@ProtoDrake: So I've been looking through the article some more, and I don't really understand this part: hoping to bring about salvation through technology, the humans created the Idea Space, and generated Maria as its goddess and administrator for using Idea Space who wishes to help create the Millennial Kingdom. Do you think you could reword this to make it clearer?--IDVtalk 10:56, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
Did my best. It's not a well-told story regardless of language. That's probably part of the reason it remains the way it is rather than being re-released on a new platform. --ProtoDrake (talk) 11:36, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

@GamerPro64: Well, maybe, but I haven't read the whole article, and have no idea if all statements are supported by their given sources (except the SMT thing that I fixed the other day). One obvious flaw is the lead, which doesn't summarize the entire article - aside from mentioning that Toby Fox and Temmie Chang worked on it, it doesn't say anything about the game's development, for instance. I'll look through the article more thoroughly tomorrow.--IDVtalk 01:57, 1 May 2016 (UTC)

IDV, I have just finished putting this nomination back into the reviewing pool, since the review/approval was so messed up it had to be reverted and the original reviewer has withdrawn from GAs. Since no one expressed an opinion, I've opted not to delete the original review page, and have bumped the page number so the new review will be opened on a /GA2 page. If you feel strongly that the original review page should be deleted, by all means let me know. It shouldn't affect the ultimate review either way. I hope this will soon be taken up by a new reviewer. Thanks, and sorry this happened. BlueMoonset (talk) 00:55, 13 May 2016 (UTC)

Don't you think it seems early to post negative reactions to a game if isn't not even been played yet? I'm not against negative reviews or impressions, but I think game developers at least deserve the benefit of the doubt until the game is played. You know? People and game corporations do need to make money to be able to stay alive. I think that they deserve at least to be played or experienced before negativity is thrown there way. zI'm totally fine with there being negative opinions of the game if it's played by journalist and fans at e3. I just think it should be until then that opinions are given on the game. Zachtylers99 (talk) 20:30, 21 May 2016 (UTC)

I'll be moving this discussion to the article's talk page. If you want to respond, please do so there.--IDVtalk 21:10, 21 May 2016 (UTC)

This article looks as if it's mainly about the original Game Boy Advance release, though it has the DS version section. I wanted to replace the DS cover with the GBA one again, but I don't want edit warring. I put the Star Ocean (video game) front covers up for discussion at FFD; somehow, consensus seems to lean toward the original Japanese box cover. Where can I discuss the GBA vs DS debacle before I put it up for FFD? To be honest, I don't want to discuss this because I thought it was a waste of time and text. However, in the light of recent events happening to me, I have to do this before I mess up again. George Ho (talk) 04:23, 22 May 2016 (UTC)

@George Ho: I guess you could just create a thread on the article's talk page and tell people about it on the VG WikiProject's talk page, or directly opening a thread on the WikiProject's talk page about this. I'm going to guess we'll be using the DS cover, though - WP:VGBOX says "English language covers are preferred for identification" and "If a suitable English language cover art already exists on the subject page, then do not waste time in replacing it with a different version".--IDVtalk 07:01, 22 May 2016 (UTC)
