Hi, AirportExpert! The title to this section is a link which may help explain your dismay expressed at the two AfD's listed above. In short, high schools are presumed notable, primarily because at least in the US, there is a reasonable expectation that at least some of the activities of the school will gather widespread coverage in newspapers, satisfying the requirements of the notability requirements for organization's need for widespread coverage. This is due to the fact that athletics, band, speech & debate, chorus, Mock UN, Mock trial, robotics, etc. compete on a wide field generally including at least the entire state if not wider. The same cannot be said for middle and elementary schools, so with them, excepting a showing that they have widespread, ongoing coverage, it is presumed they are not notable. Honestly, most lower schools that have articles have them because they meet some other exception to notability guidelines most commonly being listed on the NRHP. Please don't think I'm talking down to you, but on Wikipedia, notability probably doesn't mean what you think it does. Here it simply means, the subject qualifies for an article. Generally, that is accomplished by showing that a subject has had in depth coverage in multiple reliable sources, totally independent of the subject. For organizations, there is also a requirement that at least some of those sources be either widely circulated (think New England or nationally) or that they originate from a distant place. Hope that clarifies things for you a bit. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. John from Idegon (talk) 18:27, 6 November 2017 (UTC)

Stamford

I'd like to explain further my rationale for removing your s-rail addition to Stamford station. One, the New Milford extension is a long way off. It's been pushed to the "long-term" funding category in state documents, with politicians now distracted by a different shiny thing (re-electrifying the branch). So while it's worth mentioning in the Danbury Branch article, adding it to the s-rail templates in station articles probably runs afoul of WP:CRYSTAL until it's an officially planned project (entered into the funding queue). Honestly, the stubs you created for Georgetown, Brookfield, and North Danbury stations probably do as well, though it may be possible to add reliable sources about the previous stations at those locations.

Two, an extension of an existing service generally shouldn't be added as a separate section of proposed service - it should be adjoined to the row for the existing service to make it clear that it would be an extension rather than an entirely new service. If the extension becomes more than a pipe dream, that's where it should be noted. I hope this makes my position clearer, and I look forward to your thoughts. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 03:04, 24 October 2017 (UTC)

@Pi.1415926535: I understand your point, as it probably will be a long way off before Connecticut finally builds this extension. First the State seriously needs to get their finances in order! I'll try and expand on the history of the former stations, as you suggested. I believe this information should at least remain on the pages for stations ranging from Danbury to SoNo, but if you feel it's best to remove this from other NH-line stations, I fully understand. I just request that we leave the proposed extension on the route map, since this information is relevant to the Branch section on the NH line map itself.--AirportExpert (talk) 00:52, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
Hey, sorry for the much-delayed reply. The RDT is a perfectly fine place to show the extension; they're commonly used to display both past and (potential) future routes and stations. I do think it's probably best to remove the s-rail templates from the other stations for now; until the state gets its house in order, I think it's misleadingly optimistic to show the extension on them. (As much as I'd like to see it happen...). Cheers, Pi.1415926535 (talk) 06:57, 9 November 2017 (UTC)

Removal of notability tag

Hello AirportExpert. I saw that you had removed the notability tag from Oil Spill Response Limited ‎and in the edit summary you wrote that notability had been established. I have reverted your edit, for two reasons. Firstly, you're the creator and effective sole editor of the article, so you're not really in a position to judge whether notability has been established. Secondly, you've not addressed the issue. See WP:MAINTENANCEDISAGREEMENT. You've not added any further references since I added the tag, and neither of the two references provide in-depth coverage by independent, reliable sources. The video on the World Petroleum Council isn't an independent source - the company works on behalf of the industry and is funded by it. It is largely based on content provided by the company, and the content contains promotional language like 'world class'. Please find truly independent sources. Once that's done, someone else can determine whether to remove the tag. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 09:12, 23 January 2018 (UTC)

BDL Destination Map - Thank you!

I just wanted to thank you for putting the destination map back on the BDL page. I couldn't see why it wasn't allowed in this case but did not want to get into an edit war. Dbroer (talk) 17:49, 23 January 2018 (UTC)

I was the one who created it, so of course I want it to stay up there. I find it so annoying when people reference some random Wikipedia guideline to justify a removal, simply because they don't like the aesthetics of what is on the page. Keep an eye on BDL as well as PVD and SWF, they'll probably remove it again.--AirportExpert (talk) 15:18, 24 January 2018 (UTC)AirportExpert

Hello, AirportExpert. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Brookfield Theatre for the Arts, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 01:17, 23 April 2018 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on File:Virgil Geddes.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Replaceable fair use File:Stephen Harding official photo.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Stephen Harding official photo.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 19:59, 6 May 2018 (UTC)

The history section of the above article was essentially composed by copying and pasting from [1]. As an established editor, you should know that's against the copyright policy. What's up with that? I am also concerned about your lack of communication with other editors. This requires a response, you are risking the revocation of your editing privileges. MER-C 19:46, 6 May 2018 (UTC)

Thank you for addressing these concerns and bringing them to my attention. The history section was not a pure "copy and paste" since I did change some of the wording/sentence structure and did cite the source, although I can see how it would be viewed that way. Under those circumstances, I was unaware that I committed a copyright violation. I'll rewrite the section with greater effort, and I promise it won't happen again. I'm not sure what you're referring to regarding a "lack of communication with other editors", since I have collaborated with editors on recent projects.--AirportExpert (talk) 19:55, 6 May 2018 (UTC)AirportExpert

I'm referring to your talk edits as a fraction of total. 3% is a little concerning, but seeing that you responded here promptly is a good sign. MER-C 16:48, 11 May 2018 (UTC)

Nomination of Brookfield Library for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Brookfield Library is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Brookfield Library until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Rusf10 (talk) 01:15, 15 May 2018 (UTC)

While doing WP:NPP, I saw you reverted the redirect and encouraged talk page discussion. I have restored the redirect. In researching the notability I could find no news about this expansion since 2015. While there are plans to do this expansion it doesn't seem like anything is imminent and so information about future expansion could reliably be sourced into Danbury branch. Further in consulting WP:RAILOUTCOMES and Wikipedia:Notability_(Railway_lines_and_stations) neither seems to support planned expansions, with the latter specifically saying, For proposed or planned stations, historic railways stations that only existed briefly, or stations on metro, light rail, tram, people mover, or heritage railway lines, if insufficient source material is available for a comprehensive article, it is better to mention the station in an article about the line or system that the station is on. Hi there. Why are you adding the New England template to places that aren't even mentioned on the template? Thanks. Magnolia677 (talk) 18:29, 10 June 2018 (UTC)

New Canaan is located in New England, and is located near cities that are mentioned on the template. This applies to all the towns and cities that I added the template to. I don't think the addition of a template to a page requires the page to be mentioned directly on the template (as long as the template is relevant to the page), but let me know if I'm wrong. Thanks.--AirportExpert (talk) 18:44, 10 June 2018 (UTC)AirportExpert

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Bridgewater, Connecticut, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page New Yorker (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:01, 15 June 2018 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on File:Brookfield Public Schools Logo.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.
