Logos / Flags

Thank you for your efforts to improve and update copy righted logos within numerous airport articles. However, although you have only been editing for roughly three years, you may not have fully read MOS:Flags in reference to airports. Whereas, the statue applies to 'Country' maps and not State maps. Your removal of state maps is understood given your past belief, though not suggested by internal guidelines. Looking forward to more proper logos, regards. Infoboxes

Please do not add pushpin maps to infoboxes about towns/cities. It's a violation of WP:USCITIES. — JJBers 16:31, 30 May 2017 (UTC)

@JJBers: Except for this discussion I haven't seen anything at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Cities/US Guideline regarding pushpin maps. As well, Template:Infobox settlement has four perimeters for pushpin maps. I've added pushpins maps to hundreds of US city and town articles. When were they outlawed? Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 22:10, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
@JJBers Public: Editing from one account, but signing from another, can be problematic. Could you please take a moment to answer the above? Thanks. Magnolia677 (talk) 21:38, 1 June 2017 (UTC)
They're not used usually when there are maps in use already, and all of the reverts, the page had a map of it already. — JJBers 14:38, 2 June 2017 (UTC)
@JJBers:@JJBers Public: Thank you for responding. I looked for examples of this two-map prohibition, and Chicago, New York City, Miami, and thousands of other US cities all have two maps. As well, both examples at Template:Infobox settlement have two maps. Could you please point to the discussion where consensus was reached about this? Otherwise, would you be prepared to revert your edits? Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 15:53, 2 June 2017 (UTC)
As this revert points out, it can get too excessive at times and cause a lot of infobox clutter. —JJBers 01:04, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
@JJBers:@JJBers Public: While it may look cluttered on the edit page, the end-result on the main page (which is what matters) does not look cluttered. In fact, it provides interesting geographic information to the reader, which is the purpose of Wikipedia rather than for its pages to be aesthetically pleasing while lacking in information. Also, there is no consensus that bans such an edit, as you falsely stated there was earlier.--AirportExpert (talk) 01:11, 3 June 2017 (UTC)AirportExpert
That's what the image map can provide. It looks to cluttered on my 1920x1080 screen at least. (That's the most commons desktop/laptop screen resolution on Wikipedia) —JJBers 01:27, 3 June 2017 (UTC)

Maps

You've gotta stop adding the pushpin maps to articles. When an article like Norwalk, Connecticut already has a map showing its location in the county and state, it's useless to expand an already-too-large infobox to show basically only the state's location in the country. And if you don't know where Connecticut is in the US, that's why we link the state in the infobox and in the first sentence of the article (and you probably wouldn't be at an article on a small city like this anyway). So please stop adding these maps; I'd argue it's really only relevant for a city's place in the US when it's one of the top cities, i.e. the global cities in the US. ɱ (talk) · vbm · coi) 01:28, 3 June 2017 (UTC)

@:Then please tell me why some cities get to have a so-called redundant dual-map, but Norwalk can't? It clearly adds valuable information to these cities. With all due respect, until a consensus is reached, I will continue to maintain the dual-map on the Wikipedia page for the City of Norwalk and any other smaller cities and towns where it is changed.
Did you not read what I wrote? " I'd argue it's really only relevant for a city's place in the US when it's one of the top cities, i.e. the global cities in the US." So yeah, if you only check precedents that are major cities (you mentioned you checked the articles on Chicago, New York City, and Miami), of course they're going to show the location in the country. But for small cities nobody outside of the US has ever even heard of, it's silly, excessive, and ridiculous. ɱ (talk) · vbm · coi) 01:52, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
@: In fact, I would argue the complete opposite. Someone reading an article on New York or Chicago is more likely to know the location of the city, rather than someone who is unfamiliar with a smaller city such as Norwalk, making the map much more useful to those readers. Also, what qualifies a city as being large enough to have a dual-map? Does Boston qualify? Does New Orleans Qualify? Does Providence qualify? Does Portland qualify? etc. This is why reaching a group consensus is so important, since your opinion clearly differs than mine.--AirportExpert (talk) 02:10, 3 June 2017 (UTC)AirportExpert
Fine, so keep at the status quo and open an RfC or similar channel. I completely disagree with your opinion, and so do the other editors of the Norwalk article. We have consensus there, and so it will remain mapless until a formal broad consensus is reached. ɱ (talk) · vbm · coi) 02:13, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
@: You have editors that agree with you, and I have editors that agree with me. Until a formal broad consensus is reached and maps are no longer permitted, I believe it should stay. My intention is not to butt heads with you, but rather to establish an across-the-board consensus for this addition.--AirportExpert (talk) 02:19, 3 June 2017 (UTC)AirportExpert
Yes, except when a content dispute exists, the status quo always remains until the dispute is settled. As well, consensus on this article right now is to have only the one map. Until you create an opposing, larger consensus, your opinion on this specific article doesn't override consensus. ɱ (talk) · vbm · coi) 02:22, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
@: So are you the Status Quo? I was thanked on my page by several editors for changing the reverts that were made to these maps. Just as you have editors whom agree with you, I have editors whom agree with me. The Status Quo has not been set. Not by me, and not by you.--AirportExpert (talk) 02:27, 3 June 2017 (UTC)AirportExpert
Jesus Christ, I'm talking about the status quo on the English Wikipedia article for the city of Norwalk, Connecticut. Stop. ɱ (talk) · vbm · coi) 02:34, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
@: Add a section on Norwalk's talk page to try and establish a formal status quo. Until then, there is not a status quo on this matter.--AirportExpert (talk) 02:40, 3 June 2017 (UTC)AirportExpert

() The only three editors working on this over the past months is JJBers, me, and StephenTS42. Stephen hasn't expressed any disdain for the removal of the map a while back, and JJBers is with me, as above. Stop being ridiculous and wasting my time. I'm done fighting this petty nonsense. ɱ (talk) · vbm · coi) 02:47, 3 June 2017 (UTC)

@: Just because you make consistent edits to Norwalk, you don't have total control over the page. You need to establish a formal consensus, just like everyone else. Clearly establishing a fair consensus is petty to you, but it isn't to me. Also, one editor not having an opinion on the matter doesn't mean that they side with you.--AirportExpert (talk) 02:51, 3 June 2017 (UTC)AirportExpert

Stop pinging me with your every comment. That's what watchlists are for. As for your comment, I really don't understand how you've been on Wikipedia this long, and how you have such a strange view of how things work around here. Anyway, please stop, I have a million important things to get to. ɱ (talk) · vbm · coi) 02:56, 3 June 2017 (UTC)

I love editing on Wikipedia, and just want to make sure every dispute is established and ultimately resolved fairly. I have been here for this long, by following the rules and being fair. That comment was rather rude of you. Look, You're clearly passionate about what you do, just as I am. I respect that. I just want these sort of disputes to be solved fairly.--AirportExpert (talk) 03:11, 3 June 2017 (UTC)AirportExpert

@:@JJBers:@JJBers Public: A discussion was started about this already on this talk page (see above... User talk:AirportExpert#Infoboxes). I've never seen a limit on the amount of information that can be placed in an infobox, and this one-map/two-map thing really comes down to personal preference, much like placing flags in infoboxes. There was a discussion started by User:JonRidinger at Talk:Franklin Township, Portage County, Ohio#Settlement Infobox, and a discussion here, but no consensus. Can I suggest a discussion about this be started at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Cities/US Guideline? If we are in agreement to do this, we can collaborate on forming our discussion proposal. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 09:48, 3 June 2017 (UTC)

@:@JJBers:@JJBers Public:@Magnolia677:@StephenTS42: Thank you, that is a great idea! My intentions are that we can create a consensus about this matter for not just this page, but for every Wikipedia page about a town and city. This will allow us to accomplish that.

June 2017

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Norwalk, Connecticut. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Mifter (talk) 16:20, 3 June 2017 (UTC)

Thank you. I added a request to establish a consensus to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Cities/US Guideline over this matter.--AirportExpert (talk) 16:34, 3 June 2017 (UTC)AirportExpert

The file File:Tus Air Logo.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

File media exists on Commons c:File:VfB Fortuna Chemnitz.png, this is a simple text logo, not a an F8 because the Commons file is 'free' license and this is tagged NFUR not needed.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. A tag has been placed on Doug DeMuro requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. This will allow you to make your case on the talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. reddogsix (talk) 01:59, 1 July 2017 (UTC)

I have removed RES2773 comment from the AfD. If that user wants to add it they can do so or if you want to add a reference to the comment that would be fine, but adding it as if that editor added it is a little like staking !votes. reddogsix (talk) 03:12, 1 July 2017 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on File:Doug DeMuro Jay Leno's Garage.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

Moved page Chrysler Capital to Draft:Chrysler Capital & talk page archiving

G'day, I have moved your page per above so that it can be completed and notability for its own article past the main Chrysler article established before appearing in the mainspace. You seem to be an experienced editor so I assume you know how it all works.

Addtionally since you have >115 sections on your talk page, my next edit will be to add an autoarchive script to cut down on the size. It is your talk page however so you're fine to undo the change. — IVORK Discuss 00:53, 21 August 2017 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Lowengart

Hello AirportExpert,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Lowengart for deletion. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an unnecessary disambiguation page.

If you feel that the page shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.
