Question from Tinakalo (16:18, 12 June 2021)

Hi! It seems pretty easy to handle) I expected a more complex interface. I might need some help with references) --Tinakalo (talk) 16:18, 12 June 2021 (UTC)

@Tinakalo Hello, seems like you were using VisualEditor. You can check this guide. Could you detail what is your exact problem? Are you having a problem about adding a reference, adding parameters, or editing an existing one? Ahmetlii (talk) 20:28, 12 June 2021 (UTC)
@Ahmetlii I am fine) They just seemed complicated at the beginning. Where I can find a guide with how I can publish an article? Tinakalo (talk) 12:14, 17 June 2021 (UTC)
@Tinakalo you can find the guide at Help:Your first article. Ahmetlii (talk) 18:44, 17 June 2021 (UTC)

Question from Shafi varode on Help:Your first article (21:39, 14 June 2021)

Hello how create an article on Wikipedia --Shafi varode (talk) 21:40, 14 June 2021 (UTC)

@Shafi varode the mention about how to create an article passes on the article you linked at the title. However, please don't use Wikipedia for creating autobiography, Wikipedia is not a place for that. Ahmetlii (talk) 18:46, 17 June 2021 (UTC)

India Walton article

Hi - I've started a discussion about Jon698's vandalism here - Talk:India Walton. Please chime in if you have any comments. He's been deleting sourced material all day.TheNewMinistry (talk) 20:28, 23 June 2021 (UTC)

@TheNewMinistry Hello, my reason for the specific warning was due to calling the person as "dyslexic idiot", which is indeed against to WP:NPA and not related to the dispute over page (I didn't exactly know what was the dispute over the page while sending warning). Nobody has right to call other users as such, no matter what the person in question has done. Ahmetlii (talk) 20:32, 23 June 2021 (UTC)
    • His paragraph structure is jumbled and backwards, and many times when typing at me today he showed clear signs of dyslexia. Not saying that in a derogatory manner - I'm just saying that his contributions are heavily flawed because he can't make paragraphs flow in a cohesive manner. I had to fix his writing several times, and he just keeps reverting it all back (check out the edits for the past 12 hours). I see myself as a decent writer, so to have some guy not only delete sourced contributions (especially when the article is sparse to begin with), but start insulting my intelligence because he has some learning problem - I don't need that. I can admit when I'm wrong, but there's nothing to admit in this situation. If he keeps gatekeeping the article I'll just abandon it to forever look bad. TheNewMinistry (talk) 20:41, 23 June 2021 (UTC)

Question from Tinakalo (09:01, 21 June 2021)

Hello Ahmetlii) Am I doing well? Any mistakes? Any remarks? --Tinakalo (talk) 09:01, 21 June 2021 (UTC)

@Tinakalo Hello, I didn't find any problematic issues about formatting and editing in general, but please ensure you have cited additions to Wikipedia with reliable sources, though I've seen that you have done that as well on some edits. Well done, and thanks for additions to Wikipedia :) Ahmetlii (talk) 20:21, 23 June 2021 (UTC)
@Ahmetlii Yes sir! I will try to base my edits only on reliable sources!!Tinakalo (talk) 06:04, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

  • New York (state) Epicgenius, a New York specialist, with 1083 points from 2 featured article reviews, 18 good articles, 30 DYKs and plenty of bonus points.
  • Republic of Venice Bloom6132, with 869 points from 11 DYKs, all with bonus points, and 54 "In the news" items, mostly covering people who had recently died.
  • England Gog the Mild, with 817 points from 3 featured articles on historic battles in Europe, 5 featured article reviews and 3 good articles.
  • Hog Farm, with 659 points from 2 featured articles and 2 good articles on American Civil War battles, 18 featured article reviews, 2 good articles, 6 good article reviews and 4 DYKs.

In round three, contestants achieved 19 featured articles, 7 featured lists, 106 featured article reviews, 72 good articles, 1 good topic, 62 good article reviews, 165 DYKs and 96 ITN items. We enter the fourth round with scores reset to zero; any content promoted after the end of round 3 but before the start of round 4 can be claimed in round 4. Please also remember that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them (one contestant in round 3 lost out because of this). When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. AfD comment

Hello Ahmetlii. Thanks for your comment in the AfD of Operation Tigris Shield which I have just closed. The result is that the title is to be a redirect to Operation Claw (2019–2020). Your comment implies that some of these articles have counterparts on the Turkish Wikipedia. It is unfortunate that there are no cross-wiki links from the English to the corresponding Turkish articles. If you have any idea of how to fix that, it might be useful. There is such a cross-link for tr:Pençe Operasyonları though I'm not sure it goes to the right place in English. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 19:27, 3 July 2021 (UTC)

@EdJohnston Hello, the article I mentioned was tr:Kararlılık Harekâtı, but sadly it didn't show on the page properly though I fixed it at that diff. The article I mentioned was same as Operation Tigris Shield page, but as I mentioned before it was not having enough content to warrant an article even though I searched in the internet for it, and therefore I suggested a redirect to Operation Claw (2019–2020) due to being predecessor of that. I hope I clarified my comment. Ahmetlii (talk) 08:25, 4 July 2021 (UTC)

Question from Samiyun (10:37, 6 August 2021)

Hello, please how can write an article on Wikipedia --Samiyun (talk) 10:37, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

@Samiyun Hello, Help:Your first article is an extensive help page about how to write an article and contains answers to common questions about articles. However, for the sake of putting the concerns about the content of your article simply; you need to prove that the subject is notable via sources which are verifiable reliable sources on the article page. Feel free to reply below this section if you have any other questions about how to write an article. Ahmetlii (talk) 19:42, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Question from PabloPicasso94 (10:33, 9 August 2021)

Hi , I would like to add a new wiki article for a musician . How do I go about this --PabloPicasso94 (talk) 10:33, 9 August 2021 (UTC)

@PabloPicasso94 Hello, seems like you have already created the draft page for that person, though you need to comply with all the guidelines below, and with article guidelines, such as using verifiable and reliable sources for demonstrating notability. Also, seems like you have a conflict of interest with the person (if that's the case please comply with related guidelines and consider changing your username), or you are creating a page for yourself (if that's the case please stop, it's highly discouraged to write a page about yourself). Once you have addressed those points, send the draft for review via adding {{subst:submit}}. Ahmetlii (talk) 15:10, 10 August 2021 (UTC)

How do I get someone else to write for me , also how can I resolve this conflict of interest PabloPicasso94 (talk) 14:25, 12 August 2021 (UTC)

@PabloPicasso94 Hello, you cannot as Wikipedia:Autobiography says:

In this context, "autobiography" means not only something you write yourself, but also something you pay, or instruct, someone to write on your behalf.

However, if you really believe that you are passing the inclusion criteria, then submit your draft after you believe it's ready for being an article and the volunteers will give the feedback about it.
About conflict of interest, you declared your connection on your user page as far as I've seen so I think there's not any problems regarding that. You can also ask your questions at conflict of interest noticeboard. Ahmetlii (talk) 17:10, 12 August 2021 (UTC)

@Rachrachben I voluntarily opted in to help new users who were generally unable to find how to edit and what to do on Wikipedia, and mentorship module helps us to do that. If you want to learn more about it, check out here. If you didn't like it and want to disable, the only thing you need to do is either disabling it from here via remove the tick on the box of "Enable the editor help panel", or clicking to "Disable the help panel" button on the help desk. ahmetlii (Talk|Contribs) (Please ping me!) 20:07, 20 August 2021 (UTC)

WikiCup 2021 September newsletter

The fourth round of the competition has finished with over 500 points being required to qualify for the final round. It was a hotly competitive round with two contestants, Botswana The Rambling Man and New York (state) Epicgenius, each scoring over 3000 points, and six contestants scoring over 1000. All but one of the finalists achieved one or more FAs during the round, the exception being Republic of Venice Bloom6132 who demonstrated that 61 "in the news" items produces an impressive number of points. Other contestants who made it to the final are Gog the Mild, England Lee Vilenski, Zulu (International Code of Signals) BennyOnTheLoose, Rwanda Amakuru and Hog Farm. However, all their points are now swept away and everyone starts afresh in the final round.

Round 4 saw the achievement of 18 featured articles and 157 good articles. George Floyd mural Bilorv scored for a 25-article good topic on Black Mirror but narrowly missed out on qualifying for the final round. There was enthusiasm for FARs, with 89 being performed, and there were 63 GARs and around 100 DYKs during the round. As we start round 5, we say goodbye to the eight competitors who didn't quite make it to the final round; thank you for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia, and we hope you will join us again next year. For other contestants, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them.

If you are concerned that your nomination, whether it be for a good article, a featured process, or anything else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email.
