Thanks for your nice words of welcome! I have just prepared a first contribution on the trumpeter Peter Aplund. I based it on the Swedish WP and parts of his web site. Is there a template to recognize that most of the text is based on Swedish WP? When we use the English WP and translate into Swedish we have a template like {{enwp}}. I welcome any remarks on the content, but also on my English, as well as the Wikipedia syntax.Ahi-nama (talk) 14:43, 6 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of Swedish folk musicians, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Alwa (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hello, Ahi-nama. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "2015 World Masters Orienteering Championships".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Lapablo (talk) 00:47, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for signing up for this project. The project is not as active as it could be and so we can always use more help. If you haven't done so already you might want to add Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Sailing to your watch list as this is where much of the background discussion occurs. You may also want to watch Wikipedia:WikiProject Sailing/New articles as this is where newly created articles get listed for peer review. Having a look over these new articles is a great way to get a feel for how things are done on the project and also most new articles need reviewing anyway. If you have any questions you can leave me a note or post at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Sailing, either way you will get a quick response. - Ahunt (talk) 15:21, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Recent edit reversion

[edit]

In this edit here, I reverted some information that appears to be a violation of our copyright policy.

I provided a brief summary of the problem in the edit summary, which should be visible just below my name. You can also click on the "view history" tab in the article to see the recent history of the article. This should be an edit with my name, and a parenthetical comment explaining why your edit was reverted. If that information is not sufficient to explain the situation, please ask.

I do occasionally make mistakes. We get hundreds of reports of potential copyright violations every week, and sometimes there are false positives, for a variety of reasons. (Perhaps the material was moved from another Wikipedia article, or the material was properly licensed but the license information was not obvious, or the material is in the public domain but I didn't realize it was public domain, and there can be other situations generating a report to our Copy Patrol tool that turn out not to be actual copyright violations.) If you think my edit was mistaken, please politely let me know and I will investigate. S Philbrick(Talk) 12:53, 11 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I think I now understand your reversion of my editing of the JWOC article. The "copyright violation" seem to be my copying of the IOF Council decision about a second part of the JWOC 2022 competition in November 2022. I have therefore prepared the following text to replace the violation."At the JWOC 2022 no forest activities were allowed due to risk of fire (Middle distance, Relay, and Long distance). Now the IOF has decided to arrange, in Portugal, the resting medal competitions November 3-6, 2022." plus a reference to the IOF web site. My problem is now that, as a fresh WP editor, I am not familiar with how I include this new text without losing all the other updates and references I had already provided. I hope you can help!--Ahi-nama (talk) 15:32, 16 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Notice

The article Noel Braun has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not enough in-depth coverage to pass WP:GNG, and does not meet WP:NATHLETE.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Onel5969 TT me 15:18, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your observation even if I was sorry to see the "proposal for deletion". I have addressed the WP:GNG issue by adding one reference to a secondary source. There may be more sources published in Portugal, but as I don´t speak Portuguese, I have difficulty with these. Concerning WP:NATHLETE, I disagree. Under 3.18 Orienteering it states: "Significant coverage is likely to exist for an event apart from the championships mentioned above if it meet all the following criteria...Here it is noted: "Presently that means O-Ringen, Tiomila, and the Jukola relay. In addition, an event is also likely to receive significant coverage if it is a competition for developing elite athletes; this includes the Junior World Orienteering Championships,..." Thanks for your contributions to Draft:2024 Orienteering World Cup. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because Author meant it to be draft. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Josey Wales Parley 13:33, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Draft 2024 Orienteering World Cup requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Information icon Please do not introduce links in actual articles to draft articles, as you did to 2024 in orienteering.
