That's nice. Ace Class Shadow; My talk. 03:03, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

I'm a bit confused.

You have removed the reference to Hartlepool's monkey mayor from the discussion page of the Man of the Year (2006 film) article, and declared this reference "nonsense." Have you misunderstood something? It's a reference to the famous (in England) case of a football mascot winning a popular vote - which I mentioned as an interesting parallel to the film Man of the Year, in which this happens:

"When an offhand remark he makes prompts 6 million people to email their support, Dobbs decides to campaign for President. To nearly everyone's surprise, he is declared winner of the election."

What bit of this is nonsense? I'm just curious.

You weren't clear. Work on that. Oh...and sign your comments with four tildes. Ace Class Shadow; My talk. 20:25, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
Apology accepted. Thank you. 81.130.215.14 20:50, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
It wasn't an apology. And your addition still isn't appropriate. Learn how to edit where. Talk page comments should always be signed. Also, the whole "unlikely candidate wins" thing is common now. I remember Eddie Murphy was in a movie with that as theme. Anyway, thanks but no thanks. Don't add unsigned "see also" sections to talk pages, (especially archived ones,) and don't add it to the actual article, either. Ace Class Shadow; My talk. 21:00, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, it's not that easy getting the hang of Wikipedia conventions. I was only just trying to help out by pointing people at a piece of information that I thought was interesting and relevant to the matter in hand: "unlikely candidate wins". Because it was slightly more relevant than that, I thought, but never mind. I was interested to know about the Eddie Murphy movie you mention. There may be an interesting connection to be made (?) but I don't know where I would go about making it. Any advice? thanks 81.130.215.14 16:28, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Late Night

No, they're not the "exact" same show, but several things are the same between them. The show name "Late Night", the timeslot 12:35 following "The Tonight Show" and it's in the same studio. Not merging them would be the same as tearing apart "The Tonight Show" article for each host because they all haven't done the same bits and acts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ernde38 (talkcontribs) 18:28, December 1, 2006

ep count for Peter Petrelli

By my reckoning he has been in every episode, and thats 10 so far... I am confused as to why you changed it from 9 to 7? WookMuff 20:02, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

"Your count"'s wrong and I've compromised to eight. I believe a user was going through articles, "boosting" counts based on Tonight's new episode and its preview. Ace Class Shadow; My talk. 20:05, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Six months ago was episode 10, and has peter not been in every episode up to and including that? Seriously, where are you getting your figures? WookMuff 20:20, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Ant-Man

I have a question about a comic book character. I wanted to merge Magneto (film) into Magneto (comics) as there's really no news about any kind of development. I planned to do the same with Ant-Man (film), which was announced at Comic-Con with not very many details, but there's no actual Ant-Man (comics), just a redirect to a so-called disambiguation page that doesn't seem like it needs to be like that. Shouldn't the page at least summarize each Ant-Man incarnation and link to the main articles (Henry Pym, Scott Lang, etc.), and that would allow room for an Adaptation section (with a Film subsection) to merge the Ant-Man film information into? Let me know your thoughts. --Erik (talk/contrib) @ 03:19, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Green Lantern Movie: 2008 has been nominated as an article for deletion. Please go to the AfD page to vote for deletion. --Erik (talk/contrib) @ 18:07, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Isn't that like...cheating? Ace Class Shadow; My talk. 19:37, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
I think it would only apply if someone like this article's creator tried to get other people to vote to keep or tried to create sockpuppets to vote the same way. You and the others are all independent editors with histories (especially superhero-based) that predate this nomination, and this was a pretty clear-cut case. It'd be kind of boneheaded if the nomination failed just because I tapped like-minded folks for their preference. Hell, I think that's how Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Full Moon Fever (film) got no census even though the sole two citations were from frickin' 2004. (I've merged it since.) --Erik (talk/contrib) @ 20:47, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

SuperBowl?

Why did u delete the paragraph I created about C.M airing after the SuperBowl? In the TV indusrty, that's a HUGE deal, not something that goes unnoticed. Many shows that have aired post-SUPERBOWL garner HUGE ratings! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Yrgh (talkcontribs) 19:39, 7 December 2006 (UTC).

Shows that air after the SUPERBOWL (SB) have been known to increase their audience by at least 50% in viewers. That's a large increase if you ask me. Many producers hope that their shows air after the BOWL. X-Files highest reated ep was 23 million (aired after SB); Family Guy got about 20 million (aired after SB); The Practice got 23.1 (aired after SB). MANY shows highest rated ep was b/c of their post-SB time slot.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Yrgh (talkcontribs) 20:11, December 7, 2006

some deletes

Did you put delete tags on the spider-man 1995 live action show or soul squad (band) pages? I see the articles on wp:afd, but I don't see the things at the tops of the pages... Is this a necessary part of the afd process? I'm kind of new... I'm sorry if these are silly questions. -- Ben (talk) 03:20, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Batman Begins

Varengo71 is trying to expand on the information that you wrote in the Influences subsection. I'm pretty sure you covered everything that was mentioned in the featurette, but I wanted to make sure his so-called additions were really original research. If they are, do you mind going to his talk page (where I've already left a comment) and informing him that you had seen the featurette, which did not include this information? Just tell him if he wants to include it, he'd need to find another citation. —Erik (talk/contrib) @ 22:56, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

I contacted a couple of editors who had failed the FA nomination of Batman Begins a while ago, and one of them responded to my talk page at length. Stranger than Fiction, last names

I added the links to the last names because the characters are clearly all named after famous men of science, and I found that to be an interesting little fact, possibly useful for analysis of the film. If you check IMDB you will see that there is also a Dr. Mittag-Leffler and Dr. Cayly (sp). It's perhaps an observation more fit to be mentioned as "trivia", but it should be there, I feel. Should I start a trivia section perhaps? Thoughts?

A comment on reverts...Personally it doesn't phase me, but you should know that a lot people take reverts very personally, and I have been persuaded to feel that they should be used almost only in cases of vandalism, talking is always better, and if one feel that one must revert, one should always make a talk comment to the person. I made someone pretty sore a while back over this, and in the end I agree with them. jugander (t) 09:09, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Hero edits

You keep reverting the change for the second sentence of the heroes' characters page.

It currently reads: The article details with the series' main, recurring and minor characters.

"The article details with the series" doesn't make sense grammatically. Why do you keep changing it back? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 141.161.73.100 (talk) 10:20, 12 December 2006 (UTC).

Comments on TV-NC

Hey, Ace. I don't want to pull an Elonka on you, but you might want to cool the rhetoric at TV-NC a bit. The tone of some of your recent comments is a bit combative and condescending, and we don't want to give Elonka and Matthew any more ammunition. (I'm afraid Matthew has already cited your reply to Wikizach as evidence of "continued incivility".) Their case is a weak one, but we still shouldn't help them out. Let's leave the snide asides to Matthew, OK? Thanks, and I hope you understand. —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 06:15, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

Emerson

You may wish to reconsider the tone of your comments; some would see them as uncivil.

As for the merits: the move has, even now, been listed on WP:RM for less than two days; the closing was premature. The result is arguable, and I will be content to have my dissent registered, to encourage the next editor who believes, as I do, that Emerson is the primary meaning of Emerson. I couldn't find an encyclopedia article that I felt was appropriate, so I just linked to the Wictionary definition of extraterrestrial. Black Cat "vandalism"

How is correcting a false claim vandalism. Black Cat cannot move at superhuman speeds, and she isn't a lesbian, so you're continued efforts are in fact false claims and you are the vandal here. And threatening me won't change the fact that those categories don't apply here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.253.148.134 (talkcontribs) 01:28, December 21, 2006

Speedily closed means that there is no need to let the process go for the time that is generally required (in case of the deletion review, five days). It's kind of standard Wikipedia jargon. Blue Devil cbbox

Care to offer a reason why you removed this from the article? It was added because the article is used as a destination for bothe the character an the book. Without the tenant of good faith, an assumption could be made that you are engaging in vandalism by blanking information. — J Greb 15:28, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

I can appreciate concerns about page clutter, but using the positions of the "edit" links seems a bit of a stretch. By that logic the infoboxes should stop where the first section edit occurs and the {{-}} after most, if not all, right justified images. Even as the article is right now, between 1 on 3 of the "edit" links, depending on monitor resolution and font size, don't hit the right side of the page. Does this mean the character box should go as well?
As for "vital data"... It did contain reference to the 2½ years the book ran, and it allowed for the inclusion of creative staff that worked directly on that book and linkage to other characters associated with the title. And it did this without the need to go to an outside source. Granted, the external link added at the same time as the box can fill the same role, but that brings up a question of what goes into the article and what falls under "Go look it up yourself."
And last, I phrased the comment about faith and the "v" word specifically because 1) I know you're along time contributor who does a lot of good and 2) you have the bad habit of not using the edit summary. There is strong reason to believe that the edits you make are well reasoned, but without that the actions can look like blanking if they aren't explained. Without that summary for explanation, someone looking at the edit either has to guess why you made it, has to think like you, or has to assume the worst. I went with what seemed like a reasonable route, ask and state in what I thought was an appropriate manner why I was asking. I will apologize that the why wasn't as clear as it could have been, but not for the word choice. — J Greb 18:28, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
Fair points, and I'll take the experienced advice about "vandalism vs disputed" as offered.
I do have a question or two though. First, how would you suggest addressing the comic book series? And second, if applicable, how would one go about creating a hybrid infobox for cases like BD?
Thanks for listening... — J Greb 18:48, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Concerns about civility

Please refrain from calling anonymous users "GIPU"s, or referring to them as "foolish prudes"[6], no matter how much you might think they are. Significant portions of Wikipedia have been written by unregistered users; your dismissal treatment of them, and especially your insulting comments about that one particular user, are simply unacceptable. Thank you for your understanding. Kelly Martin (talk) 06:58, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

Honey, not only is [GIPU by all accounts a real term, but it's used thorough Wikipedia. Not just by me, even. Do a search. Anyway, I admit that I might have been a little...impolite, but come on. "I love (bleep)"? It's just penis! If anything, it's less foul as the proper terminology. What else would you call someone who just wants to censor Wikipedia and can't even bring themself to say the "p" word besides a "foolish prude"? Still, I'll try to keep such descriptives to myself.
...However, I don't like your tone. I know it's the net, but since you're bring up that tired old "be nicer to the unregistereds" thing, let me set you straight. I don't dismiss GIPUs. I see that it's people, not classes, who can be problematic and nothing but nuisances. Not my fault if the majority of those peoples are GIPUs. Don't get me wrong. GIPUs can be great. Like...really helpful. I've seen them fight vandalism and such. However, I once again refer to the majority. Vandals are 80% more likely to be unregistered than registered. That's wopping. Still, I'm getting off point. When I say "GIPU", I only mean "unregistered". Whatever issues come with "unregistered" status are reletive. It's not an attempt at dismissal. If it is then I ask you, "is the term "admin" used in an attempt to hold place group higher than all others?" Ace Class Shadow; My talk. 07:30, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
Please do not refer to other wikipedians as 'Honey'. Your tone is a little patronising, easily seen as sexist and not conducive to creating a collaborative working environment. You might like to choose your terms with a little more care.--Docg 01:43, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

Re: Was this supposed to say something?

Hi. I noticed you removed something I added to the Get a Mac page regarding the fact that some devices needed drivers to run on Mac OS X. I put that in with both firsthand and public proof. First, I have an all-in-one that came with Mac OS X drivers. However, if you look at the Mac OS X Downloads page, there is a section titled "Drivers", suggesting that some devices do need drivers to run on Mac OS X. So it did mean something. Ted is a more developed character than the dead Eden (who has a link), Ted has a cool power in his nuclear ability, and Ted has been developed similarly to 'The Hatian', if not more.

Since he is an active ongoing character with a great power, and his power most likely is involved in the entire plotline to atomic-blast NY, he 'should' be in the list, why not let him be included instead of continuing to remove him? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Hiro DynoSlayer (talkcontribs) 22:52, 3 January 2007 (UTC).

You wrote: Hello. Please do not add "Ted Sprague" to Template:Heroes or your "Brian Davis" entry to list of characters in Heroes. "Ted Sprague" and "Theodore Sprague" are redirects to the list, which is already linked in the template. As for Brian, an overly detailed recap of a single scene in the TV series does not equal a valid character history. I also have a suspicion that the image you used isn't...er...appropriate. Ace Class Shadow; My talk. 22:50, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

OK, On the topic of Ted Sprague, sure he already has redirects to the list and is linked in the template.

But so these others also have listed redirects as well: 1) The Hatian, 2) Eden McCain, and 3) Sylar.

Ted Sprague is a cool re-occuring character with a very cool power. Why not allow him to be listed?

As for Brian Davis, What does listing him harm? He was only in one scene, but it was a very important scene, in which we see Sylar gain his telekenetic abilities, and Brian is one of the few minor characters who had a power. Surely there is no harm in giving him a listing...is there any other named character with a substantial power who is not listed at all?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Hiro Dyno Slayer (talkcontribs) 23:03, January 3, 2007

First off, learn to sign your comments. This is no a forum; the site won't do it for you. Hagerbot and I are beginning to get tired of it. You're drawing unverified conclusions, Josi. It's like the ChrisGriswold "idiot" thing. An edit summary, let alone nothing be a subjective analysis of it, generally shouldn't be grounds for any sort of punitive measures. Block (and/or threaten) vandals, not valued users. Also, if no one can disagree with Elonka, what's the point of anything you did? Wouldn't that make even the arbitration invalid somehow? Oh wait...maybe I simply misunderstood you. Ace Class Shadow; My talk. 22:23, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
I don't know what ChrisGriswold "idiot" thing you're referring to — I haven't been following your edits closely outside of the TV-NC business. If you weren't saying "The bitch is back", I'm not sure what you meant when you said "You're the only one who gets me, Josi." (By the way, please don't call me Josi. If you want a nickname, Si is good, but I don't like "Josi". Thanks.)
Yes, you did misunderstand me if you thought I was saying that no one can disagree with Elonka. What I was saying was that tip-toeing around the edges of incivility is a form of wikilawyering, and is inappropriate. Or, to put it another way, don't be a dick. I'd like to draw your attention specifically to this paragraph in that essay:

Being right about an issue does not mean you're not being a dick. Dicks can be right — but they're still dicks; and, if there's something in what they say that is worth hearing, it goes unheard, because no one likes listening to dicks, no matter how right they are.

Ace, you're a useful contributor, but a glance at your talk page shows that a lot of people think your attitude and manner could stand some improvement. Just give it some thought, OK? —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 22:57, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
Alright, alright. I'll just have to practice my legal skills in a courtroom build into the basement of my house. Don't mind the Griswold thing. Old news. Though, you can check my block log if you're curious. Ace Class Shadow; My talk. 23:08, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Civility warning about a number of comments at Talk:Heroes (TV series)

You have repeatedly been uncivil at Talk:Heroes (TV series) to a number of editors. Please stop, it just turns discussions into arguments. You seem emotionally invested in the article, just take a deep breath and consider your words before posting more insults. Thanks. --Milo H Minderbinder 13:59, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Warning? Ooh. Dude, if you can actually do something,—doubtful—do it. I'm getting tired of these little "civility" things. All talk, seriously. Ace Class Shadow; My talk. 22:58, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
Although Ace's temperment has been the subject of tlak numerous times, I can find nothing in the last 48 hours to prompt such a warning. Before that, there was a long talk about why the fanboy site Heroes Wiki shouldn't be linked to, in which some people continued to argue that linking to crap was good. Ace got frustrated. Who can blame him? I did too. Befoe that, we're into December. He's been getting better. Don't poke the bear to see if he'll attack. ThuranX 23:07, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
His attack on an editor not involved in the discussion is clearly not civil.EnsRedShirt 06:25, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
Please provide a diff. —Wknight94 (talk) 11:56, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

"if you can actually do something,—doubtful—do it". I'm an admin, so I could do something, I could block you. However, I see no reason to do that. But please try to adopt a less aggressive tone being nice, and and seeing the best in those you disagree with will generally help you to be effective on Wikipedia.--Docg 13:42, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

For Wknight94, and evidence of the type of uncivility that ACS is always using. [7] Just look at the edit summary it says it all! EnsRedShirt 18:19, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
ACS has loads of questionable edit summaries. If that's the best you can find, you're wasting everyone's time. With almost no work at all, I found these edit summary gems on the first page of your contribution history: [8][9]. The second edit overall is the nicest example of a personal attack and a WP:BITE violation that I have seen in a long time. And I see the poor recipient of that attack has not edited since - I hope you're proud. —Wknight94 (talk) 18:35, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
First off I am not trying to hunt down all of ACS' questionable moves, because I would probably grow old and gray by the time I found them all. I just provided a direct link to something I took offense too. As for the edit summaries you provided the first one was someone using different IP's to re-add the same POV statement over and over, breaking 3RR in the process. The Second edit is a friend, poking fun at his first few contributions. He hasn't edited since because he is extremely busy. I do not have the type of record ACS has. 00:51, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

People, people, please. Don't fight over little ol' me. (Especially here.) We're all, largely, on the same side here. I'll try to set a good example for my fellow Wikipedians. (Without biting or attacking them!) Just watch. I think I'll make you all very happy. Ace Class Shadow; My talk. 18:44, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

OK. I'll polish off a barnstar and keep it in the cupboard for you. If you get no civility complaints in the next month, you can come round and claim it. :) --Docg 19:08, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

Promise

What about the whole "Heroes as personal feifdom" trip? Or are you ok with that? WookMuff 18:55, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

When did I ever say that, my good sir?
It wass bound to happen. Someone blows Ace's comment up, and another challenges it. It's like a one-two punch. This behavior of Wookmuff's is clearly baiting Ace to see if he can't make Ace blow it in hours. It comes off as probably incivil to me. ThuranX 21:59, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
Silly rabbit, incivil (which i don't think is a word) would be if i told you to just shut up. ACS can defend himself, as he has shown NUMEROUS times in the past. He doesn't need your cheersquad, though i am sure he enjoys your slavish attention to his needs. WookMuff 00:01, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
The above has been warned to desist from trolling. Please don't be temped to feed him.--Docg 00:06, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Spider-Man 3 plot

Hi, sorry if I neglected to provide a citation for my sourses, but I don't know how to. But remember that plot section chat in the discussion page? It showed a link which says Sandman and Venom are allied, as well as the New Goblin. Well, actually, I don't think it included the New Goblin, but yeah, that's what I found. Also, it said on a very well designed webpage(not those fan-made Angelfire websites) which said Sandman wanted Peter's forgiveness more than anything. Until I can provide citations and prove this, have a Happy New Year! 65.101.86.69 13:53, 11 January 2007 (UTC)65.101.86.69

Vandal comment

Who the **** do you think you are — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pooper16022 (talkcontribs) 02:14, January 12, 2007

That's a very relative question. At least...I think it's a question. The lack of any punctuation or other proper, definitive markings makes it ambiguous. Anyway, how is my sense of self relevant, sir? Ace Class Shadow; My talk. 02:24, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Nothing to Lose (Heroes)

The result was closed as Delete (clearly there was no consensus for this) - as the page creator you may be interested to note I have taken this to DRV to over-turn deletion. thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 13:25, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Babel Boxes

You really have a lot of xx-0 Babel boxes. I don't mind, but WP:BABEL says that you don't need a userbox for every language you don't speak, and there are 22 on your userpage.--Grand Slam 7 | Talk 01:59, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Heads up

70.253.174.42 Just vandalized your user page and might do it again in the future just a heads up. Oh and you can change your userbox to 6 vandalizations. Congrats --St.daniel 02:00, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
