Could you possibly explain this AFD closure with a "keep" outcome?

Hi Abishe,

@Abishe and JavaHurricane:

I'm referring to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/په اقتصاد کې پانګونه او سرمایه.

There's not explanation given why it should be kept.

I can see that the language was identified as Arabic, but Google Translate identifies it as Pashto. (While that's an Indo-European language, it is written in Arabic script, so that would be an easy mistake to make.)

Thanks - Pete AU aka --Shirt58 (talk) 09:57, 19 April 2020 (UTC)

Shirt58, I didn't close it. Ask Abishe. JavaHurricane 10:08, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
Just a drive-by comment with info that Google Translate identifies the language as Pashto. See [1]. Wtmitchell (talk) (earlier Boracay Bill) 10:26, 19 April 2020 (UTC)

@Wtmitchell: @JavaHurricane: @Shirt58: I am sorry for the blunder. I actually wanted to close the Afd discussion in order to nominate it for CSD. Unfortunately I tapped "Quick close" option in Afd discussion instead of giving clear explanation of why this Afd should be closed in order to make myself free to nominate the article to be speedily deleted. Abishe (talk) 11:44, 19 April 2020 (UTC)

On the subject of this article, and the others created by the same user - I am in the process of deleting these, in most cases as A10 of various article we already have. Please understand that your speedy nominations of Nonsense, Vandalism or Hoax were incorrect. An article being in a foriegn language does not make it vandalism, and it cannot be deleted purely for that reason, only if it meets another criteria for deletion - please read the instructions at WP:PNT should you encounter this again--Jac16888 Talk 12:57, 19 April 2020 (UTC)

@Jac16888: I take the responsibility for the blame and I forgot the basics to comply with WP:PNT when I went through those articles written in Arabic language. Yes it was me who nominated most of those articles to be speedily deleted by considering them as blatant hoaxes (G3). I hope this kind of a mistake won't happen in the future regarding the pages needing translation. In fact I was notified about this by a user in WP:Discord only after performing the tasks. Abishe (talk) 13:36, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
Thank you for the explanation. I'm pretty sure I'm speaking on behalf of everyone involved in this in admiring your candour here. We all make mistakes. (I was still getting pings in 2018 from when I mistakenly used the mainpage as a sandbox for the book cover of The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum in December 2016.) Thank you again. Pete AU aka --Shirt58 (talk) 11:46, 21 April 2020 (UTC)

You Mean You Aren’t Nigerian

Maybe because you are quite active in discussions pertaining to Nigerian articles or perharps because your name “Abishe” sounds Nigerian (ask any Nigerian) I somehow always presumed you were Nigerian. Seeing Sri Lankan made me pause in awe for a minute. Cheers dear colleague. Celestina007 (talk) 02:18, 25 April 2020 (UTC)

@Celestina007: Hi mate and thanks for the message. I am a Sri Lankan Tamil Wikipedian living in Sri Lanka and I have also contributed to Nigerian articles especially related to Nollywood. I actually started to create articles about Nigerian films from 2019 such as Nimbe, Sugar Rush, Living in Bondage: Breaking Free for the contest Wikipedia:WikiProject AfroCine/Months of African Cinema which was held from October-November 2019. I thought to contribute to Africa related articles as well and also took part in Afd discussions related to it. I actually do not know whether Abishe is a Nigerian name. I actually like to contribute to every countries in Wikipedia. Cheers mate and happy editing. Abishe (talk) 08:06, 25 April 2020 (UTC)

Deletion of UpGrad

Hello Abishe,

This is in regards to the deletion of UpGrad. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/UpGrad

I saw your comment which states that the references are not from reliable sources. The references used are from reliable sources like Economic Times, Times of India, The Indian Express, etc. – these are leading news portals in India, and independent sources like VC Circle – which is like a repertoire of recent fundings, mergers, and acquisitions in the Indian Startups ecosystem.

UpGrad is one the most notable education startups in India in the professional learning landscape, just like BYJUs is for school education.

Also, I always try to ensure a neutral point of view for all my edits, however, your inputs are most welcome to highlight the text that looks promotional, and we can change it.

I would request you to kindly restore the Deletion Talk, as due to the lockdown across India, I happened to login to Wikipedia today, and saw the invite to participate in the deletion talk, but could not.

Best, Kulwinder Rishi Kulwinder Rishi (talk) 06:39, 8 April 2020 (UTC)

@Kulwinder Rishi: Thank you for your message but you had missed your opportunity initially to take part in the Afd discussion as I understand you were inactive. I didn't comment anything about the references but I questioned the notabiliy and neutral point of view only. My comments were "The article has been written as WP:PROMO and fails to comply with WP:NPOV." You can even request the article to be reverted from deletion at Requests for undeletion. Abishe (talk) 15:10, 8 April 2020 (UTC)

@Abishe: Thank you for your response Abishe. I'm requesting for undeletion and may need your help in restoring it. Stay safe & healthy. Best, Kulwinder Rishi (talk) 05:09, 9 April 2020 (UTC)

@Kulwinder Rishi: If you are attempting to restore your article you have to comply with WP:NPOV. Stay safe and happy editing. Abishe (talk) 07:42, 9 April 2020 (UTC)

@Abishe: Agreed Abhishe. I'll go through the draft once again and try to make it more neutral.Kulwinder Rishi (talk) 05:16, 11 April 2020 (UTC)

@Abishe: Hi Abishe, I checked in the undeletion request, the admin has suggested to contact you to restart the discussion. Let's restart the discussion on UpGrad's talk page, and modify the draft to make it meet NPOV guidelines. BestKulwinder Rishi (talk) 05:36, 11 April 2020 (UTC)

@Kulwinder Rishi: I am sorry for the late response and I am lagging behind due to network issues. Hopefully I can help you out with the restarting of deletion discussion on UpGrad. Abishe (talk) 20:18, 11 April 2020 (UTC)

@Abishe: Hello Abishe, hope this finds you safe & healthy. Let's restart the deletion discussion. Probably there we can discuss NPOV, Notability, and other issues. Kulwinder Rishi (talk) 14:31, 18 April 2020 (UTC) PS - Apologies for the late response. Not being too active on Wikipedia these days due to quarantine.

Hi I just wanted to verify myself that I am not an administrator here. I serve here as a new page reviewer as well as pending changes reviewer but I can nominate articles for deletion. However I do not have any authority to delete the article or to close Afd discussions as delete. I am saying this because you mentioned me as an admin in Wikipedia which is not true and you have misunderstood the facts. I read this discussion on your undeletion request on UpGrad where I couldn't participate. But still as a newbie you can improve a lot and you can recreate the article really well. It might not be suitable for you to go ahead with another undeletion request as your initial request was not accepted by the time. Abishe (talk) 12:11, 19 April 2020 (UTC)

@Abishe: Thanks for clarifying :) I was under the impression that you are an admin, my bad. How can I recreate the article, please suggest. Also, I've joined WIRED and have picked one of India's sportsperson - Gursharan Preet Kaur, and this time I'm creating an article through AfC, so that there are no speedy deletions, is there a way we can invite more Wikipedians to work on a page while it is in draft stage. Also, is it Ok if I bother you for any help I may require while learning new things on Wiki? So far I used to make grammar edits, corrections of wrong facts, or reverse vandalism/blatant advertisement attempts... Best, Kulwinder Rishi (talk) 17:16, 25 April 2020 (UTC)

WikiCup 2020 May newsletter

The second round of the 2020 WikiCup has now finished. It was a high-scoring round and contestants needed 75 points to advance to round 3. There were some very impressive efforts in round 2, with the top ten contestants all scoring more than 500 points. A large number of the points came from the 12 featured articles and the 186 good articles achieved in total by contestants, and the 355 good article reviews they performed; the GAN backlog drive and the stay-at-home imperative during the COVID-19 pandemic may have been partially responsible for these impressive figures.

Our top scorers in round 2 were:

  • New York (state) Epicgenius, with 2333 points from one featured article, forty-five good articles, fourteen DYKs and plenty of bonus points
  • England Gog the Mild, with 1784 points from three featured articles, eight good articles, a substantial number of featured article and good article reviews and lots of bonus points
  • Botswana The Rambling Man, with 1262 points from two featured articles, eight good articles and a hundred good article reviews
  • Somerset Harrias, with 1141 points from two featured articles, three featured lists, ten good articles, nine DYKs and a substantial number of featured article and good article reviews
  • England Lee Vilenski with 869 points, Gondor Hog Farm with 801, Venezuela Kingsif with 719, Cascadia (independence movement) SounderBruce with 710, United States Dunkleosteus77 with 608 and Mexico MX with 515.

The rules for featured article reviews have been adjusted; reviews may cover three aspects of the article, content, images and sources, and contestants may receive points for each of these three types of review. Please also remember the requirement to mention the WikiCup when undertaking an FAR for which you intend to claim points. Remember also that DYKs cannot be claimed until they have appeared on the main page. As we enter the third round, any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed now, and anything you forgot to claim in round 2 cannot! Remember too, that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them. When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Precious

new page patrol

Thank you for quality articles about diverse topics, women such as Susmita Mohanty and Marta Zaynullina, films such as Inba Twinkle Lilly and Living in Bondage: Breaking Free, for magnificent new page patrolling, for "I actually like to contribute to every countries in Wikipedia", - user from Sri Lanka and Planet Earth, you are an awesome Wikipedian!

You are recipient no. 2391 of Precious, a prize of QAI. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:58, 3 May 2020 (UTC)

Gerda Arendt: Thank you so much for this appreciation and for this honour. I am quite speechless and glad to achieve this award from a veteran Wikipedian like you. I really appreciate it and this will further give positive incentives to me in creating new articles and patrolling pages. Abishe (talk) 03:37, 4 May 2020 (UTC)

Thank you! - I noticed your name often regarding new articles by my friend LouisAlain, and it seems that we foreigners - he's French and I'm German - understand each other easier. His talk page is full (worse last year) of nagging just because he translates, and naturally the article come with features from the other Wikipedias which are sometimes not wanted here, mostly different referencing style. Thank you for approving many, and I'm sure that if you had something to complain about, you'd say it in prose not template ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:09, 4 May 2020 (UTC)
Oh I see yeah I used to patrol articles since 2018 and I also reviewed several articles of LouisAlain which were mostly about musicologist from France and Germany. I didn't find much difficulties in reviewing his articles as I acknowledge that those articles are also available in foreign language Wikipedia. Anyway thank you for recognizing my contributions. Cheers! Abishe (talk) 08:31, 4 May 2020 (UTC)

Hello Abishe, I've moved your articles to the new Indian challenge which will be copied to the Asian list every 100 articles. Sign up there!† Encyclopædius 10:52, 8 May 2020 (UTC)

Abishe (talk) 13:41, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

Help with AfC submission about a Greek rock fusion guitarist

Hello Abishe, hope you are well. I submitted a draft about Yiannis Papadopoulos (a Greek rock fusion guitarist) more than a month ago https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Yiannis_Papadopoulos_(guitarist) and I've been working on it since then. Is it possible to have a look please? Sorry if I bothered you, I appreciate your time and help. Rhythm Zero (talk) 22:37, 14 May 2020 (UTC)

@Rhythm Zero: Thabk you for the message while also regretting for the delayed response and I also acknowledged that you have asked about this with other editors as well. I am of course not a AFC reviewer and I usually review only new articles as a part of NPP and I don't generally review draft pages. I saw comment by one of the reviewers of your draft: "Most references are interviews. I have tried looking for references in Greek too and weren't more helpful, so I am a bit concerned on this one." You need to cite more reliable secondary sources other than interviews. Abishe (talk) 12:49, 15 May 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for your reply Abishe, I appreciate it a lot. I know that you are busy, just please help me. Like you said, I've been talking with other editors too about this, as you see they didn't reject the article, they were just not sure. I based the layout and the sources of my article on similar articles, like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nick_Johnston_(guitarist) and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Maxim_Micic, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jason_Richardson_(musician), https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ioannis_Anastassakis. These articles -and many other articles about guitar players in wiki, use mainly interviews as sources. It seems logical -and fair, since it's the same type of article and the same sources that my article should be accepted too. Can you please have another look? I would appreciate it very much. have a nice day! Rhythm Zero (talk) 12:06, 16 May 2020 (UTC)

Notice

The article 2020 Maligawatta stampede has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Is a case of WP:NOTNEWS, in that not all verifiable events are suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia and most newsworthy events do not qualify for inclusion. It fails WP:EVENTCRITERIA.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Infobox film

Hey! Thanks for creating these film articles. I noticed that in the film infobox template, you are using both the |writer= and the |screenplay= parameters. According to the template documentation, you should only use the screenplay parameter (in conjunction with the story parameter) if the film makes the distinction between the two credits, otherwise you can just use the writer parameter. Also, make sure you are sorting the articles correctly. If the title starts with a definite or indefinite article, you can add {{DEFAULTSORT}} to the bottom above the categories and remove the article. BOVINEBOY2008 20:54, 22 May 2020 (UTC)

Bovineboy2008: Thank you for letting me know about these minor errors when I create articles related to films. I will make sure that I won't use both screenplay and writer in the infobox together and I also be aware about DEFAULTSORT option to use in articles. I hope to correct my mistakes in the upcoming articles. I also thank you for uploading and adding film images to articles and keep up your fine work. Abishe (talk) 05:19, 23 May 2020 (UTC)

Dead end tags

Hi — I patrol the dead end articles list, and recently a number of articles (to do with female speed skaters) have appeared there, tagged by you as dead ends, although they do contain links. Can you tell me why you're adding those tags, just so that I understand what's happening? Cheers, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 06:06, 24 May 2020 (UTC)

@DoubleGrazing: I completely apologise for my mistake as I mistakenly used dead end tags instead of orphan tags. I will correct my mistakes and make sure these things don't happen again. Cheers. Abishe (talk) 12:06, 24 May 2020 (UTC)

Wrong tags

Hi, and thanks for review my articles! But with tagging something is going wrong. I noticed you tagged several of articles with the Dead end tag, to articles containing links, and placing underlinked tags to pages that have enough links. Please make sure to understand the function of every tag. Earlier in May I explained the functions of the tags to you at my talk page (Articles tagged with orphan and underlinked templates). Keep on the good work, SportsOlympic (talk) 10:02, 24 May 2020 (UTC)

I think on pages where you place the dead end tags, you should have place the orphan tag. SportsOlympic (talk) 10:03, 24 May 2020 (UTC)

@SportsOlympic: Once I again, I confused myself with tagging. I completely apologise for my mistake as I mistakenly used dead end tags instead of orphan tags. I will correct my mistakes and make sure these things don't happen again. Abishe (talk) 12:06, 24 May 2020 (UTC)

Thanks! No worries :) SportsOlympic (talk) 14:57, 24 May 2020 (UTC)

Do you know how to make the reviews of drafts fast?

I have three drafts pending -- Kartikeya Gummakonda, Gouri G Kishan, and Ramya Pandian. I want to convert the first two into articles. How many months do the review take? --TamilMirchi

@TamilMirchi: I usually review only new articles which are in the main space and review any pending changes. I am not a member of WP:AFC and I usually don't review draft pages to be honest. You need to be patient as there is a backlog on reviewing draft pages or if you want you can move your draft into mainspace if you think your draft work is perfect. I urge you to not to confuse yourself as I reviewed most of your articles as I am a member of WP:NPP and hasn't reviewed any draft pages so far. Abishe (talk) 06:42, 25 May 2020 (UTC)

WikiCup 2020 July newsletter

The third round of the 2020 WikiCup has now come to an end. The 16 users who made it into the fourth round each had at least 353 points (compared to 68 in 2019). It was a highly competitive round, and a number of contestants were eliminated who would have moved on in earlier years. Our top scorers in round 3 were:

  • New York (state) Epicgenius, with one featured article, 28 good articles and 17 DYKs, amassing 1836 points
  • Botswana The Rambling Man , with 1672 points gained from four featured articles and seventeen good articles, plus reviews of a large number of FACs and GAs
  • England Gog the Mild, a first time contestant, with 1540 points, a tally built largely on 4 featured articles and related bonus points.

Between them, contestants managed 14 featured articles, 9 featured lists, 3 featured pictures, 152 good articles, 136 DYK entries, 55 ITN entries, 65 featured article candidate reviews and 221 good article reviews. Additionally, Denmark MPJ-DK added 3 items to featured topics and 44 to good topics. Over the course of the competition, contestants have completed 710 good article reviews, in comparison to 387 good articles submitted for review and promoted. These large numbers are probably linked to a GAN backlog drive in April and May, and the changed patterns of editing during the COVID-19 pandemic. As we enter the fourth round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 3 but before the start of round 4 can be claimed in round 4. Please also remember that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them. When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met. Please also remember that all submissions must meet core Wikipedia policies, regardless of the review process.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! Internet censorship topic

Hi. Internet censorship topic is Semi-protection and I can't add information about internet shutdown in Iran, at the Shutdowns part of the topic. It's link of the topic: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_censorship

There are some useful things about Iran internet shutdown, you can help me to add (only two or three sentence is enough): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019–2020_Iranian_protests#Internet_shutdown

Respectable Abishe, best regards. A few months ago you marked an article for lack of references [2]. Can you take a look at it? Thank you. --Jairon Levid Abimael Caál Orozco (talk) 05:13, 6 August 2020 (UTC)

@Jairon Levid Abimael Caál Orozco: I have just checked your article and the issues have been solved. Thanks for reminding me about it and glad that you added sufficient sources. Regards! Abishe (talk) 05:26, 6 August 2020 (UTC)

revert of "sri lanka elections"

I see that you have reverted my revision of Sri Lanka elections entry on 6th August. Many reading this page on the election does so to primarily find out the names of the main parties and their abbreviations, e.g., United National Party (UNP), etc. Even this basic information is not given in the article up front, and the article is very user unfriendly and poorly written. So I added a very constructive paragraph. I invite you to revert it back and put in my material, or equivalent material.Bodhi dhana (talk) 12:52, 6 August 2020 (UTC)

@Bodhi dhana: Hi I would like to let you know that I have briefly added the information regarding the parties who are contesting in the election in the introduction paragraph. I was concerned that it was not necessary to add the past history of the political parties. I would also like to remind you the fact that you should provide reliable sources for the addition. Cheers. Redirects

Hi there, thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia. On those redirects you created it is best to avoid creating them until there is firm evidence. In this case ticks carry lots of different viruses so these redirects are not helpful particularly as the redirect was to a very general page about an order of viruses not a specific virus. It would be good in future to run this kind of redirect past one of the relevant Wikiprojects to avoid confusion. Unfortunately the age of coronavirus brings frequent false or misleading information about viruses and my only goal is to stop it by ensuring we are using only high quality sources. Thanks and see you around. PainProf (talk) 14:31, 7 August 2020 (UTC)

@PainProf: Hi I am extremely sorry for those redirects especially regarding the Tick-borne virus which most of the sources have stated as new outbreak. I was literally confused and thought of creating such redirects to avoid possible article creation by others as I also acknowledge the fact that the news regarding the Tick-borne virus haven't been confirmed yet according to most of the sources. Cheers. Abishe (talk) 15:03, 7 August 2020 (UTC)

Concerned about a Wikipedia Page

Hi. I'm new to wikipedia. I have created a page in wikipedia about an Indian Student Activist (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rinshad_Reera). But when ever i search it on Google the page isn't appearing . Kindly help. Lillyshang (talk) 16:54, 7 August 2020 (UTC)

@Lillyshang: Well thanks for the message as I can understand you are newbie here and I would like to let you know that your article didn't appear in Google search index as it was not reviewed. Now I have just reviewed your article but still I am having bit of concern over notability issues. Rinshad Reera article will appear most likely in one or 2 days in Google. Please address the concerns. Happy editing. Abishe (talk) 17:06, 7 August 2020 (UTC)

Graphic

Allow me to point out the obvious. This graphic panel ...

卐卐卐卐卐卐卐卐卐
ॐॐॐॐॐॐॐॐॐ
... at the top of you user page contains swastikas, which Nazi Germany made into the world's most detested symbol. – Sca (talk) 13:53, 9 August 2020 (UTC)

@Sca: Believe me I am neither a cruel person against Jews nor a supporter of Adolf Hitler. I used these symbols Swastika which continues to be used as a symbol of good luck and prosperity in Hinduism. I am a person following Hinduism and so I use it as a religious philosophical thing. I wonder Hitler should have used this symbol to bring some luck in his favour at that time. Abishe (talk) 14:13, 9 August 2020 (UTC)

I understand your cultural background regarding this ancient geometric form. However, even before the advent of Nazism – ie. in the late 19th and early 20th centuries – the swastika (German: Hakenkruez = "hooked cross") was co-opted by Germano-Austrian ethno-centrists and anti-Semites. Hitler adopted it for the Nazi Party in the early 1920s. Eventually the Third Reich and all it entailed made it a globally recognized symbol of aggression, oppression, hate, cruelty and genocide.
Given this history, I respectfully suggest you not employ it on your user page, as it could be misconstrued as a pro-Nazi statement on your part. – Sca (talk) 17:38, 9 August 2020 (UTC)

Sca: I have understood your concern regarding the use of Swastika and now I have removed the symbol from my user page completely. I think you don't have concerns with this symbol "ॐॐॐॐॐॐॐॐॐ". Happy editing! Abishe (talk) 13:07, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

In matters associated with the great evil of Nazism, it's best to be cautious – if only to avoid offending others. Thanks.

Please note the documentation page for {{WP Dab}} which says "Please do not use this template solely to create talk pages that otherwise have no content". Unlike most other WP Projects, the disambiguation project can recognise all its relevant articles from their categories directly, and there is no need to create a talk page unless there is actually some "talk" which editors might want to read. Thanks. PamD 07:09, 22 August 2020 (UTC)

Hiru media

Just saw you nominated Hiru FM. Is Hiru TV which I just cleaned the infobox of related? Sure looks like it. I've been wading through hundreds of bad infobox transclusions in TV and some of them are in places where I just have no expertise. Raymie (tc) 05:46, 30 August 2020 (UTC)

@Raymie: Hiru FM, Hiru TV, Sooriyan FM, Sun FM and Gold FM are all subsidiaries of Hiru Media owned by Asian Broadcasting Corporation. The FM articles are poorly written stubs without sufficient reliable sources and I don't think they deserve standalone articles in Wikipedia. Abishe (talk) 09:34, 30 August 2020 (UTC)

WikiCup 2020 September newsletter

The fourth round of the competition has finished, with 865 points being required to qualify for the final round, nearly twice as many points as last year. It was a hotly competitive round with two contestants with 598 and 605 points being eliminated, and all but two of the contestants who reached the final round having achieved an FA during the round. The highest scorers were

  • Free Hong Kong Bloom6132, with 1478 points gained mainly from 5 featured lists, 12 DYKs and 63 in the news items;
  • IndonesiaHaEr48 with 1318 points gained mainly from 2 featured articles, 5 good articles and 8 DYKs;
  • England Lee Vilenski with 1201 points mainly gained from 2 featured articles and 10 good articles.

Between them, contestants achieved 14 featured articles, 14 featured lists, 2 featured pictures, 87 good articles, 90 DYK entries, 75 ITN entries, 95 featured article candidate reviews and 81 good article reviews. Congratulations to all who participated! It was a generally high-scoring and productive round and I think we can expect a highly competitive finish to the competition.

Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. It would be helpful if this list could be cleared of any items no longer relevant. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email.
