Maps of Pakistan

[edit]

Hello, thank you for your contributions to the article of Covid-19 pandemic in Pakistan and its associated template of medical cases.

There are multiple issues to your uploads for the files of various maps of Pakistan on Commons.

  • 1)The map you are using is not to scale. It is also not consistent with the Mercator projection.
  • 2)The borders of the map lack detail.
  • 3) The legends and its colors have been set for a reason and you must not change them as you see fit.
  • 4) The files should not have time-stamps in them. The dates are to be instead stated in the infobox.
  • 5) You must never change the Author of the file and state yourself as one, even when you have uploaded a newer version of the file.
  • 6) You must not change the summary of the file without consulting the original author.
  • 7) You must not rush to update the files.

Warning icon Your edits can bee construed as disruptive or vandalism and result in community sanctions for you. It would be best if you leave the updating of maps to me. Thank you for your understanding. --Shawnqual (talk) 23:52, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

GDP (PPP) Map Update

[edit]

Hello. Regarding this change, for future updates, could you just update the vector file instead of uploading a new one? I named the file generically for precisely that purpose. We don't want to have bitmap images when vector versions are available. Regards. Getsnoopy (talk) 18:01, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of country subdivisions by population, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Nanyang (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

@Ytpks896: Hello! I'm sorry for not creating the article over the last few weeks as I told you I would, but I'm ready to do it now. Just before I make the article, I must ask you what do you think of the idea that when we make the article "Divisions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa", we just create a redirect towards the section about Divisions in the article Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. I think that the article about Divisions will be a stub and will be too small on its own to stand as a meaningful article. -- Abbasi786786 (talk) 21:09, 9 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Abbasi786786, I've seen your recent edits and comments on the talkpage of List of metropolitan areas in Pakistan. Your, one claim is right and I agreed with it that districts can't be considered as metropolitan area as they are not classified officially by the Government of Pakistan. But I disagree with your 2nd claim in which you stated that there are more than one city in districts so it can't be considered metropolitan area. In largest metropolitan areas of the world, there are also multiple cities in them. Greater Tokyo Area is the largest metropolitan area of the world and it contains 6 cities (Tokyo, Yokohama, Kawasaki etc). Just like in this list, Gujranwala District has been considered as metropolitan area and it also has 3 famous cities in it (Gujranwala, Kamoke, Wazirabad). The largest city is Gujranwala so district is named with Gujranwala just like Greater Tokyo Area is named with its largest city (Tokyo). In this Pakistani list, each metropolitan area has a city proper population of at least 500,000. I can mention more than 50 metropolitan areas around the globe having multiple cities in them. Hi Abbasi786786! First of all I want to thank you for the creation of the article List of cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by population. There was a dire need of this type of article and I was also thinking of creating it. Anyways, I want to tell you that I've made certain changes in this article. You added an additional column for references but I removed that column and added a single ref of citypopulation.de at the top of the column of Population (2017). This single reference can cover each and every city of the list. Secondly, I removed the towns from the list as the title of list shows the list of cities by population, and the area having population of less than 50,000 is not considered a city but a town. Adding Towns in the list is only possible in such a way that first we have to change the name of the article. Thanks once again for the creation of this article. Cheers, Innocent Paki (talk) 18:06, 28 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Abbas, I've noticed that in the Constituency Results section, there are only 10 districts listed. Is there not supposed to be 14 districts in Gilgit-Baltistan, since I'm pretty sure there were four new districts made in GB?

Source: https://www.pakistantoday.com.pk/2019/06/17/gb-notifies-four-more-districts-total-number-of-districts-now-14/

@Taimoorahmed11: Yes, you are correct. There are supposedly four more districts in Gilgit-Baltistan: Gupis-Yasin, Rondu, Darel, and Tangir. Unfortunately, no mention of these districts has been made on the Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan's official website or any other website in result dissemination. The official names of the constituencies only display the ten districts that were in existence before 2019 (Gilgit-I, Gilgit-II, Gilgit-III, Nagar-I, Nagar-II, Hunza, Skardu-I, Skardu-II, Skardu-III, Skardu-IV, Kharmang, Shigar, Astore-I, Astore-II, Diamer-I, Diamer-II, Diamer-III, Diamer-IV, Ghizer-I, Ghizer-II, Ghizer-III, Ghanche-I, Ghanche-II, Ghanche-III). This is why I only added the four districts created between the 2015 election and 2019. If the Election Commission Gilgit-Baltistan listed those four districts' constituencies with their names, I would've added them. There also is the issue of GBLA-20 (Ghizer-II), which spans parts of both Ghizer and Gupis-Yasin Districts. This would be difficult to put into the table. -- Abbasi786786 (talk) 23:41, 15 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Abbasi786786: Ah, understandable. Yeah I also noticed that hardly no one mentioned that it's 14 districts and not 10, which slightly concerning if you ask me, but nevertheless it's good to know that you had considered this. Thank you. :

@Magnolia677: Does this link suffice? From there a downloadable list of every single county by Hispanic and Non-Hispanic population will be found -- Abbasi786786 (talk) 22:29, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
At Hidalgo County, Texas, you wrote it "is Texas' second-most populous majority-Hispanic county and the seventh-largest nationwide. It is also the largest county which is over 90% Hispanic." Where can this be found in the linked data? Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 22:39, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Magnolia677: It can easily be found by downloading the excel file and sorting the table. In fact, you don't even have to download it. You can see a full list and table of all the data you could want by clicking here. -- Abbasi786786 (talk) 22:42, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Magnolia677: Thank you very much! Does this allow me to re-add the sentences about county Hispanic populations onto the county pages?
On a related note, if you have the time, would you consider verifying this data source? It's the same thing as the previous one but on cities (List of cities by Hispanic population), and I have plans to add sentences about cities onto city articles the same way I was doing with counties earlier. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. LearnIndology (talk) 02:29, 17 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Some questions about country populations for you

[edit]

I want you to look at the populations of all the countries of the world in 2010 and compare them with their populations in 2020. Some countries increased in population, others declined in population. I want you to look at the population growth for all 195 countries between 2010 and 2020. Please answer the four questions for me below:

  • Which country had the greatest numeric population growth between 2010 and 2020?
  • Which country had the greatest percentage population growth between 2010 and 2020?
  • Which country had the greatest numeric population decline between 2010 and 2020?
  • Which country had the greatest percentage population decline between 2010 and 2020?

I want to know the answers to all four questions above. Please feel free to do so for me. 50.24.26.218 (talk) 20:10, 17 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@50.24.26.218: No problem, according to https://www.populationpyramid.net/ between the years 2010 to 2020:
Greatest Numeric Increase: +146 Million increase in India, +70.5 Million increase in China, +47.6 Million increase in Nigeria
Greatest Percentage Increase: +67.9% increase in Oman, +55.2% increase in Qatar, +48.7% increase in Equatorial Guinea
Greatest Numeric Decrease: -3.86 Million decrease in Syria, -2.07 Million decrease in Japan, -2.06 Million decrease in Ukraine
Greatest Percentage Decrease: -20.1% decrease in Puerto Rico, -18.1% decrease in Syria, -12.9% decrease in Lithuania
Included the top three for each category
I have to ask, though, why did you come to me specifically? -- Abbasi786786 (talk) 20:22, 17 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Because you are a fan of population. 50.24.26.218 (talk) 20:24, 17 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I already know this data for US states. Between 2010 and 2020, Texas had the largest population gain of any state, Utah had the highest population gain of any state, Illinois had the largest population loss of any state, and West Virginia had the highest population loss of any state. I was wanting to know the same data for worldwide countries. 50.24.26.218 (talk) 20:28, 17 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A fun fact about Canada's population

[edit]

Ever wonder how small Canada's population is? It sure is small compared to quite a few countries around the world, even some smaller countries by area. Below is a fun fact about Canada's population:

Canada's population is smaller than all of the following things:

  • Colombia
  • South Korea
  • Uganda
  • 1/4 of Bangladesh
  • 1/2 of Germany
  • California
  • Jiangxi Province
  • 1/6 of Uttar Pradesh
  • Greater Tokyo area
  • 1/3 of Java Island

Are you impressed by my list of things above with more population than Canada? Which of these surprised you? Please reply to this discussion for your thoughts! Ar Colorado (talk) 14:26, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

When you updated the current population estimate at Maricopa County, Arizona, you deleted the sources supporting the historic data. I reverted the edit, because your edit also created a reference error. Could you please restore the sources you removed on other county articles? Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 22:42, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, 2021–23 Cuban migration wave to the United States, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hello, Abbasi786786. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "2021–23 Cuban migration wave to the United States".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 15:54, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

November 2024

[edit]

Information icon Hello. Your recent edit to Winter Springs High School appears to have added a non-notable entity to a list that normally includes only notable entries. In general, a person, organization or product added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Thank you. Meters (talk) 20:27, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Meters: He has 10.1 million followers on TikTok, 2 million followers on Instagram, and 615K subscribers on YouTube. -- Abbasi786786 (talk) 20:42, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So what? You're asking to include someone simply because of your unsourced claims. He does not have an English Wikipedia article to show his notability, and he does nto have a reliable ref to show his attendance. If you think he is notable then WP:WTAF. Meters (talk) 20:46, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Meters:
Damn that's crazy bro
That's way too much work, and I don't think I should have to do all that.
My claims are not unsourced. Link to TikTok, Instagram, YouTube:
https://www.tiktok.com/@joerauth_?lang=en
https://www.instagram.com/joerauth/?hl=en
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-ZmdZJ3FyDValzOTsJb_fg
This amount of following certainly should qualify for notability, and it reflects negatively on Wikipedia that you aren't flexible enough to allow someone to add it without writing an entire article. -- Abbasi786786 (talk) 21:30, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You didn't provide any sources in your edit. You simply added "Joe Rauth, social media personality". Now that you have given me some links to his social media, I can see that he has lots of followers. That's nice, but number of followers is not something that lets us presume notability. See WP:NBIO, Have any independent sources written about him? And you still have not shown that he actually attended the school. If you can't be bothered to follow the rules and show his notability and that he attended don't blame us. Meters (talk) 21:44, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
