The article Ruth Phillips has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Wgolf (talk) 20:15, 7 March 2015 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of The Let Down Reflex, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://nyevents.us/new-york-the-let-down-reflex/271199.
It is possible that the bot was mistaken and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.
If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) CorenSearchBot (talk) 20:29, 4 March 2016 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of The Let Down Reflex
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on The Let Down Reflex requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://nyevents.us/new-york-the-let-down-reflex/271199. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. FA9295 (talk) (contributions) 20:31, 4 March 2016 (UTC)
- Making an entire article as a quote from a copyright source is copyvio. If you own the material, see WP:DCM. DGG ( talk ) 02:07, 5 March 2016 (UTC)
Hi! Thanks for responding. If you look at the article, you will see that the entire thing is not a quote, but rather there are two very short quotes. There is duplicate text because both pages list all of the artists in the show, but that is not plagiarism as there is no other way to list them. Please advise how to move forward. Thanks. 13ab37 ( talk ) 8:55, 5 March 2016 (EST)

Event page
[edit]Hello, thanks for creating this page! I hope this event goes well. Just a recommendation - when you create an event like this, it's best to add categories for the event so it can be tracked (I've done this), and add it to the calendar and template. This allows people to find and track it, and also will likely increase the likelihood of remote support from experienced contributors who can correct mistakes on pages created and give feedback to new contributors. Hope this is helpful to you, let me know if any thoughts or questions. Blythwood (talk) 00:52, 1 February 2017 (UTC)
Account creator granted
[edit]After reviewing your request for the "accountcreator" permission, I have enabled the flag on your account. Keep in mind these things:
- The account creator right removes the limit on the maximum number of new accounts that can be created in a 24-hour period.
- The account creator right is not a status symbol. If it remains unused, it is likely to be removed. Abuse of the account creator right will result in its removal by an administrator.
If you no longer require the right, let me know, or ask any other administrator. Drop a note on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of the account creator right. Happy editing! — MusikAnimal talk 03:22, 3 February 2017 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Julie Tremble
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Julie Tremble requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Zazzysa (talk) 21:34, 11 March 2017 (UTC)
Nomination of Julie Tremble for deletion
[edit]A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Julie Tremble is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Julie Tremble until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Zazzysa (talk) 11:20, 12 March 2017 (UTC)

Discretionary sanctions notification
[edit]Please carefully read this information:
The Arbitration Committee has authorised discretionary sanctions to be used for pages regarding living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles, a topic which you have edited. The Committee's decision is here.
Discretionary sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimize disruption to controversial topics. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to the topic that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behavior, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. This message is to notify you that sanctions are authorised for the topic you are editing. Before continuing to edit this topic, please familiarise yourself with the discretionary sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.TonyBallioni (talk) 22:11, 21 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hi, sorry for the scary template, it is just to let you know that we have a special set of rules around biographies of living people and our policy that applies to them (WP:BLP). The issue on David McGimpsey is that the current consensus is that the accusations should not be a part of the article as per WP:BLPCRIME and because the reporting on it is based on one primary source (the CBC, which is high quality, but consensus is currently it isn't enough to include it under our policy.) This is because we are very conservative with our treatment of living persons, and typically a new report about an administrative investigation by an employer about criminal matters where no charges, much less a conviction, will not make it into a BLP except in exceptional circumstances. TonyBallioni (talk) 22:28, 21 March 2018 (UTC)
Hi, TonyBallioni I appreciate your feedback. There is not just the one CBC article. Please see: https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/local/transcona-bred-prof-under-investigation-475620603.html http://theconcordian.com/2018/03/complaints-filed-two-creative-writing-professors/ http://theconcordian.com/2018/03/complaints-filed-two-creative-writing-professors/ Moreover, I believe that it is our role to challenge guidelines and policies, on and off of Wikipedia, which uphold the patriarchy and which make permissible the type of silencing of voices that has allowed perpetrators of sexual violence to continue unimpeded for so long. --13ab37 (talk) 19:10, 22 March 2018 (UTC)
- Except you make the assumption that he is actually a perpetrator of sexual violence, which Wikipedia considers a problem since he has not been convicted. Wikipedia is not here to right great wrongs. A report of one instance of opening an investigation by two papers (again, same instance), and then the paper of the university itself, are not enough to merit inclusion in the article. He is a private individual in the eyes of our BLP policy, and thus we are very cautious about what we include. TonyBallioni (talk) 19:16, 22 March 2018 (UTC)
How is a public intellectual a private individual, especially when considering that the allegations were made by his students? I understand the BLP policy and who it wants to protect and I urge you to understand how that same policy upholds implicit and explicit bias on this site and in society. --13ab37 (talk) 20:27, 22 March 2018 (UTC)

The article Siân Evans (librarian) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Non-notable individual lacking in-depth, non-trivial support. References are single line mentions or examples of work.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. reddogsix (talk) 15:48, 22 August 2018 (UTC)

URGENT: 2 weeks left to sign the new Wikimedia confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information
[edit]This is a message from the Wikimedia Foundation.
This is a reminder to acknowledge and sign the new Confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information. As you know, your volunteer role in Wikimedia projects gives you access to secure and sensitive information.
The new version includes one major change.
- There is a change regarding the way personal data may be released. Accordingly, functionaries must notify the Wikimedia Foundation at check-disclosure@wikimedia.org before releasing data, in order to obtain a written approval for doing so. The Foundation will respond within 10 days. However, for emergencies, such as cases involving threats of violence, functionaries may release the personal data without such explicit permission, but they should notify the Foundation immediately following the disclosure. If they choose not to disclose the data, the request for disclosure should be forwarded to the Foundation's emergency email address (emergency@wikimedia.org).
There are also some wording changes that were made to more closely align the language with evolving industry norms, best practices and laws. The most notable of these has been the change of the term "nonpublic information" to "nonpublic personal data". None of these changes are intended to make fundamental changes to the scope or practice of the policy but we know they could appear as such, hence wanted to flag them.
The aforementioned changes require users that have already signed the previous version of the policy to sign the new version as well.
We therefore ask that you to sign the updated version. Signing the agreement is tracked on Phabricator's Legalpad. An online guide is available to help you with signing the agreement: Confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information/How to sign. If you wish you can sign it directly at https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/L37. The exact policy is located here: Access to nonpublic personal data policy. The text of the confidentiality agreement is located here: Confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information
If you have already received this message and signed the updated agreement, you need not sign it again. Once is sufficient. In this case, we ask that you respond to Samuel (WMF) letting him know when (date) and how (method/process of signing) you have signed it so that we can update our own records.
Note: please bear in mind that if you still haven’t signed the updated version of the Confidentiality Agreement by February 13, 2019 your rights will be removed.
Thank you for your understanding,
Samuel Guebo (User:Samuel (WMF)), Wikimedia Foundation

Recent account creations
[edit]Hi 13ab37, I notice that you've created a lot of new accounts today. I've also noticed that for two of them, you entered an email address in the "reason" field, which is publicly logged, as such I've had to suppress those log entries. I must ask you to take much more care when creating accounts.
On that note, I notice that you've created all of them today by specifying a password, which means you technically have knowledge of that password and thus the accounts you've created could be classed as compromised and blocked. I assume that this is for an outreach event, and as such you should be checking the "Use a temporary random password and send it to the specified email address" box when you create the account, which emails a temporary password to the user for their first login. I believe the outreach dashboard can also handle this for you, but I'm unfamiliar with it. I get notified of every single account which is created by a user holding +accountcreator without using this checkbox, so naturally today you've popped up no fewer than 21 times with a notification I rarely see.
As a final point, I don't know why you've been granted the more sensitive +accountcreator right, when you asked for +eventcoordinator. I presume your work with outreach is planned to continue, so I hope you don't mind if I switch you over to the event coordinator right? Thanks! stwalkerster (talk) 22:28, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
Hi Stwalkerster - yup please switch me to Event coordinator! The accounts were created for a class context in which students were asked to create accounts at home and NONE did so. I didn't use the Outreach Dashboard, which I normally use to authorize accounts, because the work of creating an account was supposed to be done in advance and I follishly thought it would be. Thanks for checking in and sorry about the confusion! --13ab37 (talk) 21:09, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
