Bohfiwzangabo reply

Hi Alynna, thanks for taking our experiment in stride. I did not know of the list of newly created pages. My real name is Luca de Alfaro (you can Google me, I don't want to insert "link spam"), and I am doing this to gather info on how to make a content-driven reputation system for the Wikipedia that is robust wrt tampering. Best wishes, Luca

Thinghy

I think that leaving the link as you had done, should stay. Yes, there is not much difference, but 2. is described as an excerpt! The text is complete. Thinghy 23:57, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

Hmm. While the section header says "excerpt", the text is the same. I'll change the section header, but leave the link out - especially as the full text is buried in a paper about something else. --Alynna 00:00, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Basis

May I ask, by what basis did you arrive at the conclusion that PSI Seminars is not a stub?

There is virtually no information about their courses, their history, their structure or anything about the company. Other than the company website, the only information in the article comes from 'brief' mentions in anti-cult publications.

Did you read the article or any of the references?

Nothing personal, but if that article isn't a stub, I'm curious what is. Lsi john 02:36, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

The article is longer than the typical stub. Sorry, I'll put the stub tag back. --Alynna 02:37, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. It's longer than a typical stub, because it is a POV article with fluffy citations from anti-cult pov publications. There is very little information really available about the company. The technical description for the article is found here: WP:COATRACK.
Peace in God. Lsi john 02:39, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
I have removed most of the unrelated (trivia), and duplicated information, from the article. I apologize for not taking the time to do this previously.
I will accept that we disagree on the article being a stub. Do you agree that the individual sections are stubs?
The history on this article is that it was already deleted once before, as PSI World and was re-created as PSI Seminars. I don't personally believe there is sufficient information to even justify an article. Lsi john 15:44, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
Yes, the sections you have tagged as stubs are stub sections. The appropriate tag for stub sections is {{sect-stub}}; I'll change them. The article may well deserve deletion; feel free to list it at WP:AFD. --Alynna 15:46, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. Lsi john 18:44, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

thanks

Before nominating an article for speedy deletion, consider whether it could be improved or reduced to a stub; speedy deletion is for cases where an article does not contain useful content. Note that some Wikipedians create articles in multiple saves, so try to avoid deleting a page too soon after its initial creation. Users nominating a page for speedy deletion should specify which criteria the page meets; it would also be considerate to notify the original author. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rogue-Radio (talkcontribs)

I am aware of what speedy deletion is for. Assuming you are referring to Rogue-Radio, I did specify which criteria it met. It was blatant advertising ({{db-ad}}). I apologise for not notifying you; should you create another page that I tag for speedy deletion, I will notify you. --Alynna 19:52, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

Too essayish

Could you please explain further how the article as currently written is too essayish and what specifically could be done to make it less so? Thankyou. Please respond on my talk page. --Hfarmer 03:44, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

In response to your clarification. The large blockquotes seemed like the best way to express the facts. I mean there have just been so many times where I would summarize information like that just to have someone want to delete it for being "original reserach" or unsourced POV etc. I will try to summarize the information in the section you mentioned and see how it looks.--Hfarmer 01:54, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi, Spaceharper, welcome to WikiProject LGBT Studies!

We are a growing community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to identifying, categorizing, and improving articles of interest to the LGBT community. Some points that may be helpful:

  • Our main aim is to help improve LGBT-related articles, so if someone asks for help with an article, please try your hardest to help them if you are able.
  • Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
  • The project has several ongoing and developing activities, such as article quality assessment, peer review and a project-wide article collaboration, all of which you are welcome to take part in. We also have a unique program to improve our lower quality articles, Jumpaclass, so please consider signing up there.
  • If you have another language besides English, please consider adding yourself to our translation section, to help us improve our foreign LGBT topics.
  • If you're planning to stay, have a square in our quilt! You can put anything you want in it.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the talk page, and we will be happy to help you.

And once again - Welcome!

Hi there, just wanted to say thank you for taking the time and energy to merge the content from petula oil and redirect the link, and then clean up the non-wikified information too. You rock! Eliz81 14:40, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Feminism re-write

Hi Alynna, thanks for having a look at my feminism rewrite. Nobody's paying any attention to it at the moment. Have you any strong views on where the present page is better or not? I know I need to source a few things - most things that are unsourced are actually unsourced in their own articles so i'm having to do primary research but that's fun in its own way. It's still here - I've made a few changes, but nothing too wild, since you last saw it.--Cailil talk 01:12, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

The rewrite definitely looks like a big improvement. Sorry I haven't had more time to look at it. --Alynna 01:24, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Martin dugard

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Martin dugard, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}. Hammer1980 19:52, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Redirect of Pegnet

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Pegnet, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Pegnet is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Pegnet, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article PEtALS, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Hi Alynna,

I am the author of the Pete Sears bio which you recently deleted. It was a more condensed version of the first one that was deleted by the last editor, and it should provide a good concise platform for other people to work from (adding links to names mentioned in the bio, etc). If possible, as I am the author, I would like to obtain official permission to post the recently deleted Pete Sears bio in Wikipedia. Thanks for keeping an eye on this stuff...this is a wonderful medium and I understand your concern regarding someone just copying and pasting information. All the best, Pemburyclose —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pemburyclose (talkcontribs) 10:12, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello, Pemburyclose. To find out about granting permission, please refer to Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. Following those instructions, putting a notice on the article´s talk page, and following the guide to layout should prevent any future problems. Otherwise you may find other well-meaning editors reverting your changes again. Happy editing, --Alynna (talk) 23:11, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Slog (blog)

An editor has nominated Slog (blog), an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Slog (blog) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 01:29, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

LGBT issues and Wicca: agree with your rename but has been renamed before...

Hi there, just thought I'd let you know that this renaming has been an issue before! See this diff which renamed the article from Sexual orientation and Wicca (my preferred title) to Homosexuality and Wicca - this was apparently to bring it in line with other articles in the category Category:Homosexuality and religion. Personally I agree that your title is better, but others who watch this category may differ... Kim Dent-Brown (Talk) 14:13, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I know. I've been trying to get the naming scheme changed for accuracy (since "Homosexuality" is not an accurate title for some of the articles), but every attempt ends in "No, because the other ones are all like that". I figured maybe if I started with a single article that definitely needed to have a more inclusive name it would help... I'll let you know if I start another broad proposal --Alynna (talk) 01:53, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello AK, thanks for your kind comment. Actually it's way underdone still isn't it! But I thought putting the relevant sections in with some links would just be a good way to start. Cheers for the encouragement. Wikidea 20:42, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

When I put those links there I was simply replacing some old broken/inappropriate ones. I chose some "top level" links from the Bisexual Community article where I has just pruned the self-serving and non-notable.

IMHO each Sub-entry in an article such as LGBT culture should probably have the same format. So if there are links for Bisexuals there should probably be equivalent links, see also, etc. of ubiquitous groups/media and cultural touchstones for all the Communities, (HRC, the Task force, GLAAD, Lambda Legal, Victory Fund, the Advocate, LOGO, Dinah Shore Weekend, L-Word . . .) Who is Alynna Kasmira?

I'm pretty sure I've seen your Wiki faerying before. Thanks again.

I'm curious about your attractive nom de plume.

It reminds me of Assyrian names, and then again Russian names. I'd go Slavic over Semitic on the shape of the words.

I imagine this is the name of a significant woman, and would like to know her.

I might disagree with her opinions, but I care almost as much about passion as I do about truth. I find a thing about life is that it is sometimes exceedingly challenging to share passions with people when we're at odds over something, so we retreat. I think that's normal, realistic but sad.

It strikes me that anyone worthy of your admiration is worthy of my attention.

If you get a moment between compiling recalcitrant coding attempts, please educate me.

Congratulations on your engagement, I wish you both adventure, joy and comfort. Alastair Haines (talk) 14:04, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Alynna is a name I first made up for a D&D character, and then adopted as an online alias because I liked it. Kasmira is a Slavic name meaning "bringer of peace". I found it on the Internet. --Alynna (talk) 12:57, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of The Terrorist Handbook

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article The Terrorist Handbook, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. Alynna, you've been around long enough to know the rules. No editing to disputed revisions without an attempt to address those issues to consensus. You offered no sources, nor attempted to address issues raised by dissenting editors. Alastair Haines (talk) 17:30, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

You are wrong. My prefered version is quite different. I am reverting to the neutral version -- before Ilkali arrived. Check your facts. Seek consensus before making changes. Cease making personal attacks on me without any evidence. Second warning. Alastair Haines (talk) 17:54, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
