Edit filter missing?
So I was watching the abuse log recently and found an impersonation vandal spam bunch of middle-finger emojis against a talk page. I don't know if I've mixed something up, but weren't middle finger emojis supposed to be disallowed by an edit filter? ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 12:07, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hi AlphaBetaGamma - I know that I added a change to filter 680 to block the middle finger emoji, but that filter only blocks attempts to add this to the mainspace; it doesn't monitor any other namespaces such as Talk, Wikipedia, Help, etc. I can add it to mine if you'd like, but the filters I created only flag positive hits; it doesn't block positive hits from being saved. TPA removal request
Hi, and sorry for making another request here, but the discussion with the blocked user Jacobchoi20 (indef blocked as a sock/potentional meatpuppet of their colleague) which has been dragging on since April has been going nowhere close to the user (and the colleague which is a de-facto meatpuppet) showing signs of editing constructively. Now, they have started ranting in the talk page and even showing signs of legal threats using their CEO.
Per the reason above, I request a removal of Jacobchoi20's TPA access as it is starting to drag time away from other editors. Also, I think I forgot where to request things like this. ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 11:21, 8 May 2024 (UTC)

No apologies are needed; I'm happy to help. :-) Looking at the user's talk page, they've been given instructions for properly appealing their block in that they need to do so on the master account, not one of the sock accounts. That fact aside, the two unblock requests made by this account don't address the sockpuppetry issue at all - just that they're back and want to contribute genuinely. Is it okay for a user to manufacture hundreds of articles with just two lines ?

(He was given Autopatrolled rights by https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:BU_Rob13 )
Just came to this user saqib created 200+ articles with Autopatrolled rights only with two lines (alosmost all articles) and most of them are not properly cited. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and hundred more.
Is it okay to manufacture short articles with Autopatrolled rights? Because as per guidelines creating "clean" , well cited articles is mandatory!. Lkomdis (talk) 16:47, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
- Lkomdis - Wow, that is... concerning. If you haven't started a discussion at ANI, I would gather some more evidence and examples of poorly-sourced articles that the user created, and start a new discussion there about this. Make sure that you notify Saqib on their user talk page about the ANI discussion involving them (this is required, and there's a template provided there that you can use). With that many articles created, and the fact that you have concerns regarding quality and the lack of reliable sources where needed (especially if any article is a BLP), I think this concern needs to be reviewed by the community and by additional eyes. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 19:55, 8 May 2024 (UTC)

It wasn't meant to take any sides or explicitly agree with them (though reading my response now, I would understand if I gave that incorrect interpretation to anyone). It looks like they've already started a discussion on COIN about this... Some UPEs Aanuarif (talk · contribs) have been sneakily trying to slip WP:PROMO into Waqar Zaka's BLP too and I've been on cleanup duty. Thanks for helping out at AFD but please become familiar and use Wikipedia:XFDcloser. It will take care of all of the steps for you like untagging the article, placing the appropriate notice on the article talk page, deleting redirects, taking care of links for articles that are deleted. This AFD wasn't completed so I thought I would bring it to your attention so you could finish it manually. We also try to close AFDs close to when the 7 day period of discussion is over unless they are relisted discussions and you closed most of these AFDs hours early. Sockpuppetry
Hi Oshwah. Could you please take a look at the recent activity on Saturday Night Live season 50? Mcleodaustin immediately jumped into edit warring which didn't seem like enough to request a check on its own, but then NotSoDangerousPanda (a sleeper account named after DangerousPanda, a former administrator desysopped "under a cloud") jumped into the edit war and their second edit is very precocious and includes a CheckUser request. I blocked NotSoDangerousPanda as a sock of Mcleodaustin, but based on the topic interest, the focus on article coloring, and the disruptive editing, I believe the accounts may be Banana Republic sockpuppets. I unfortunately must agree with this deletion; it had contentious content that wasn't supported by any reliable sources, which is not good. I highly implore you to go through Wikipedia's getting started page and complete the Wikipedia tutorial for new users. Both pages will tell you exactly why your content was deleted. It obviously was erroneous on my part, and I'm very happy that Wikipedia has users such as yourself to keep us honest and improve the project. Was I drunk? Uhh, no. - Hi Nicolas134! Welcome aboard! :-) Ooohhh, yeah, don't do that... please. You should not be touching any articles (let alone creating any) that involve article subjects that you have a personal conflict of interest with. It opens the window for the creator to add original research to the article (which isn't allowed), as well as make it impossible for you to adhere to a neutral point of view when writing the content. Wikipedia is not for advertisement of businesses or other services. I highly advise you not to waste your time, because anything you create will get deleted. See Wikipedia's getting started page; if you're at all interested in contributing to this project outside of your initial goals to write about your business, this page will guide you through how to help us. Two questions
Hi Oshwah! First off, thanks for everything you've done on Wikipedia! Seems like you've been doing a ton of work, and I think that's awesome :). Anyway, I'm a relatively new editor (about three months old) and I had two random questions (because you've been assigned as my mentor):
1. About a month ago, I published my first article (Susan Hutson). It was rated C-class and low importance, but it has not been patrolled, so it won't appear on any search engine yet. I saw that pages are automatically patrolled after 90 days, so I was wondering, will it always take 90 days for an article to show up on a search engine? Or are articles sometimes patrolled sooner than that? Because mine was low importance, I'd assume it'll take 90 days, but I was just wondering what to expect and what's usual, as I don't have a ton of experience with this :)
2. In general, I've tried to include a citation after every sentence when writing/editing. But let's say you write three sentences in a row whose information all comes from the same source. In that case, do you put the same citation on all three sentences? Or just on one? And if only one, do you put it on the first or last sentence?

- Hi Schtamangie! Welcome aboard, matety! I'll be happy to answer your questions (and I apologize for the delay with responding - life is... sigh... busy right now). This page is going to be the most straight-forward method of informing you of when articles are mined by search engines and when they will not be. The page must be a certain age old and be be marked as patrolled before a search engine will include it in their scraping of pages. This is obviously to make sure that the article isn't libelous, untrue, etc. Having multiple sentences adjacent to one another does not require you to cite the same source at the end of each one. Just cite the source at the end of the content you're adding, and you'll be fine. You're already doing the right thing by even citing one in the first place. Hi, I made a wikipedia account because I encounter to many errors and inconsistencies between pages. For example: On the Djokovic career statistics page it's extremely clear that he now has 18 consecutive years reaching at least the semi-finals in Masters 1000. Novak Djokovic tennis season 2024 page says the following: Equalled Nadal's record of 17 consecutive seasons of least one ATP Masters 1000 semifinals per year.
It's even written on that page that he reached the semi finals in Monte Carlo in 2024. How is that equalled with 17 and not record breaking 18. I just don't understand and I see it daily. Can this editor be banned and can you make it correctly. Thanks --J0HNNYC4$HH (talk) 15:57, 25 May 2024 (UTC)

You have just as much right to edit the content as an administrator does. Remember that nobody owns content on Wikipedia.
