Hello Sir!
I was trying to add geocode location of this subject dam, but couldn't find it anywhere on the map. Well... there is a fairly good chance that it hasn't been marked on map and hence isn't available. But i tried searching on http://india-wris.nrsc.gov.in also, but found none. (I don't know if the website is complete/reliable or not. But having looked at the data for various dams on it, i find it to be fairly reliable and good, if not best, source of information; well organized one.) However, on this website there is a Bhavali Dam which is close to Igatpuri and also built on Darna river; which is the basic description in our article. Of course, there are various dams near Igatpuri and various dams on the Darna river as well, best example being Darna Dam. Bhavali is also available on map. To name a dam "Godavari", after one of the most popular and important rivers of India, especially when it is not based on that river, sounds very odd to me. Do you think the Bhavali Dam is actually misnamed here as Godavari Dam? I suppose you may have some knowledge on this or at least some better way to find about it. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 06:49, 5 March 2013 (UTC)
- Let me check from my books. I will get back to you.--Nvvchar. 06:57, 5 March 2013 (UTC)
- No rush! Take your time. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 07:36, 5 March 2013 (UTC)
- I have verified my documents of the Godavari Tribunal. There is no mention of this dam as Godavari dam. It is mentioned only in [1] and [2] gives a different name. May be the name of the dam has been changed recently. May be some some irrigation engineer near Igtadpur (if you know any one there) could clarify.--Nvvchar. 03:11, 6 March 2013 (UTC)
- Well... going by the list Dams in Maharashtra which lists both Bhavali and Godavari Dam as two separate dams, there is a good chance that they exist and are different. We probably are just not looking at the right place in the map. Anyways... thanks! §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 03:53, 6 March 2013 (UTC)

We really need to be better organized with listing our DYKs on the A-Z page. I'm done with the project for today. --Rosiestep (talk) 20:46, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
As we can't seem to get this large project completed, I'm wondering about splitting it. If you and Dr. B are agreeable, my recommendation would be 3 projects (meaning 3 hooks): Pancha Rathas (6 articles), cave temples (6 articles), and everything else (4 articles)? --Rosiestep (talk) 03:50, 10 March 2013 (UTC)
I am done with my edits to Atiq Mosque (Awjila). --Rosiestep (talk) 04:12, 10 March 2013 (UTC)
Let's get the Pancha Rathas completed and nomed -- I can't imagine breaking them up -- and then figure out the other hooks, ok? Another maybe not obvious benefit of multiple hooks is that we can use multiple images and there are so many striking ones. --Rosiestep (talk) 15:42, 10 March 2013 (UTC)
- And I was going to suggest an alternative of let's get Group of Monuments at Mahabalipuram nomed by itself as it is so comprehensive (can it get to GA?) and would pave the way for others. There's no incentive for a multihook (fewer reviewers want to deal with them). Can you get some feedback from Dr.B? --Rosiestep (talk) 16:35, 10 March 2013 (UTC)
Well, I think it makes more sense to just get them out of the way in a single hook. There's no rush to get them all finished if you currently don't feel like editing them.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 17:29, 10 March 2013 (UTC)
I'm done working on them for the day in case someone else wants to take over. --Rosiestep (talk) 17:41, 10 March 2013 (UTC)
Nvv, ask Materialscientist to move the articles into the mainspace, I'll ensure they are all copyedited before nomming, I dislike working in sandboxes and am more likely to edit them in the mainspace. We have 5 days, I'll see that they're OK.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 17:49, 10 March 2013 (UTC)
Termit Massif Reserve - I've completed my edits to this one which you mentioned awhile ago. If California articles interest you, you may want to work on Wolf Creek (Nevada County, California) and Banner Mountain. --Rosiestep (talk) 19:19, 10 March 2013 (UTC)

Hi,
I added a bit to the article. Thanks for reviewing! Star767 (talk) 13:42, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
- Over the years I have drifted towards sourcing articles from books with preview as far as possible, or journal articles, and trying to avoid websites because they often have errors. That naturally leads to the {{sfn|lastname|year|p=123}} style of citation, so each page referenced can be cited individually without repeating the book or journal details. It also moves the clutter of source definitions to the back of the article, and I think putting the sources in a separate alphabetical list gives a more professional appearance. It is easy enough once you get into the habit. Just a personal preference. Aymatth2 (talk) 15:31, 11 March 2013 (UTC)

- Nvvchar, sorry, I saw your question on DrBlofeld's page. DAB=disambiguation, meaning to correct the article links to point to the correct, informative articles relevant to the topic. I couldn't find any mention of a "third Caliph al-Hakim" in an existing Wikipedia article. If we wikilink, the link should go to something specific about the mentioned item. There are too many Al-Hakim articles to know which applies, if any. I found an article discussing a "sixth Caliph Al-Hakim", which I linked in the DYK nomination discussion, but not a "third". It appears to me that the comments related to the Atiq Mosque (Awjila) nom pertain to content in the article before I started editing it,[4] so I'm not sure which refs, translation tools, etc. you used at the time. Can you re-trace your editing steps to sort it out? As there are only 1536 ch, I'm hesitant to start a c/e (i.e. removing close paraphrasing and questionable phrases such as "is of great regional importance") a this time. Olakkanneshvara
[edit]Hello. I'm confused. The infobox for the Olakkanneshvara Temple article features this img: Mahishamardini Rock Cut Mandapa.jpg. The infobox also states that there's an alt name, Mahishasuramardini Cave Temple. The lead states that the Olakkanneshvara Temple is near the redlinked Mahishasura Cave Temple. We have an article on Mahishasuramardini mandapa. Are these all different buildings: Olakkanneshvara Temple, the Mahishasura Cave Temple, and the Mahishasuramardini mandapa? Also, I don't find one gbook-hit for the word Olakkanneshvara, which seems unusual; also none for Mahishasura Cave Temple. Thanks for helping me understand what's what. --Rosiestep (talk) 02:46, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
So is it appropriate to use an img of Mahishamardini Rock Cut Mandapa.jpg in the infobox for Olakkanneshvara Temple? --Rosiestep (talk) 03:00, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
Ref2, Ayyar, doesn't mention Olakkanneshvara at all. Ref3 and Ref4, Puratattva.in, doesn't seem like a RS: "With a nearly impossible target, to document all major and minor heritage monuments of India, this IT professional has gone into a very different trajectory to accomplish his passion. Hailing from Mathura and settled in Bangalore, Saurabh is an immature blend of north and south India. However, we don’t know how, he has been able to keep his passion kindled. He is ever ready to bore you with his remarks and talks, so beware if you spot him somewhere in ruins or deserted monuments as this is where he wanders most. He is the main brain behind spoiling this site with his content. Please write all your abuses via Contact Us, he will surely answer you as this might be his best past time. I have received few comments that why I am being humorous when the site content is serious. I agree that the site content is serious however I prefer to put some humorous element as well. I am not sure whether I am right or wrong in doing this, so I thought to ask you directly. How you feel about reading my little introduction, do let me know if you visit here." I just can't seem to find any RS other than, maybe, Ref1 which has a brief mention of Olakkanneshvara. --Rosiestep (talk) 03:12, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
I think I've found it but with a different spelling. Give me a little time to do some research. --Rosiestep (talk) 03:20, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
UNESCO spells it, "Olakkannesvara", and there are many gbook-hits using this spelling, so I'll move the article to "Olakkannesvara Temple". Thank you for the picture... truly a picture is worth a thousand words. According to UNESCO, it is a structural temple like the Shore Temple, so in the navbox, I'll move it from the Mandapas section. --Rosiestep (talk) 03:38, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
Yes, if you can upload it, that would be great, but can you give me an hour to work on the article so we don't edit over each other? --Rosiestep (talk) 03:48, 19 March 2013 (UTC)

The picture could be the one in the infobox of the Descent of Ganges. It is entirely up to you to finalise. and rightfully post it on DYK. [edit]ICHTHUS |
April 2013 |
Membership report
The parent Christianity WikiProject currently has 357 active members. We would like to welcome our newest members, Thomas Cranmer, Mr.Oglesby, and Sneha Priscilla. Thank you all for your interest in this effort. We would be able to achieve nothing here without the input of all of you. If any members, new or not, wish any assistance, they should feel free to leave a message at the Christianity noticeboard or with me or other individual editors to request it.
From the Editor
We apologise for the hiatus in the publication of this newsletter due to unforseen circumstances leading to the wikibreak of John Carter, and so I have taken over as acting editor, and have taken this opportunity to move the publication date to the start of each month as planned, to better reflect on the previous month and look ahead to the next. This issue covers the period of time from mid-January to the end of March.
Since the last issue we have seen the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI and the election of Pope Francis. This has received much coverage both in the world media and on Wikipedia. While there is still much work to do, several quality articles have been written and the editors involved are thanked for their efforts.
This month we look ahead to Easter and the celebration of God's love for mankind through the crucifixion and resurrection of his Son Jesus Christ. With that, I wish you all happy reading!
P.S. Please click here to add the new Christianity noticeboard to your watchlist to follow the latest discussions relevant to WikiProject Christianity and subprojects.

Church of the month
This image of the Church of Saint Ildefonso, Portugal by Poco a poco was recently promoted to Featured Image. Thank you and congratulations for the great image!
Contest of the month
No particular contest this month. I am however getting rather close to getting together a more or less complete set of articles relating to different areas of Christianity which can be found in recent reference sources on the broad topic of Christianity, and about various subtopics, which I hope to have finished in the next few weeks. I wonder what the rest of you might think of, maybe, making the contests of future months be basically directed at filling in the gaps of our existing coverage of topics, like those topics given significant coverage in specialized reference works which we don't yet have content on, and giving the thanks, and rewards, whatever they might be, to those who create and develop such content. I am starting a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Christianity noticeboard#Future contests, and would very much welcome any input from interested parties in how to set it up, determine winners including how many winners, etc.

Christian art
Spotlight
The Spotlight this month turns to the the Jesus work group. The scope of this project includes the life and teachings of the central figure of Christianity, Jesus Christ and aims to write about them in a non-denominational encylopædic style. Top-priority articles include Jesus, Christ, Resurrection of Jesus, and Holy Grail, whereas High-priority articles include Aramaic Language, a former FA, as well as Sermon on the Mount, Lamb of God, and Passion (Christianity). The workgroup has also published two books, covering Christ's final days and the Parables of Jesus. The workgroup has two GAs, Nativity scene, and Jesus in Islam, but unfortunately the flagship article, Jesus was delisted in 2009. It is also responsible for three WP:1.0 articles, and the WikiWork of the project is 4.56, which indicates the "average" article is between Start and C class.
By Gilderien
Calendar
This coming month (end-March through end-April) includes Easter Sunday in Western Christianity and both Lazarus Saturday and Palm Sunday for the Eastern Orthodox Church. Other major feasts in the next month include those of Saint George, Saint Mark the Evangelist, Saint Stanislaus, James, son of Zebedee, and Benedict the Moor.

The Candle Creek article and all the other Alaskan geo articles I've started up recently are based on PD material, verbatim and/or closely paraphrased, with appropriate attribution. No problem with that. The problem with the Candle Creek article is that it was nomed without re-working the verbatim and/or closely paraphrased PD material. I've started up a few more Alaskan geo articles in the same way, and want to do many more because there is so much PD material out there on geo features which interest me and don't have a presence on wikipedia. But let's not nom them unless you or Dr. B or I or someone else want to re-work them first. In the meantime, I'll c/e Candle Creek. --Rosiestep (talk) 15:48, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
- Me too!! I've been there twice, once in the winter and once in the summer. Beyond lovely! I am working on improving the attribution on these articles so there's no mistaking that they are full of PD (verbatim or close paraphrasing), which is fine, but they can't be nomed as is. --Rosiestep (talk) 16:09, 30 March 2013 (UTC)

? Name
[edit]I recall you said that Alaska's geography interested you, so I wanted to mention Cape Nome... an interesting place with an interesting etymology. The current article is verbatim PD so it would need a re-write for dky. I found a lot of present day references which I haven't incorporated (at least not yet). No worries if you're busy with other things. I love the garnet sand photo! --Rosiestep (talk) 14:46, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
Yes, all the verbatim PD would need to be re-phrased. The hook will be fun: ... that the map notation of "? Name" may have been misconstrued as "C. Nome"? Re this for Groenendael Priory, it seems to have good info, but blog aren't considered to be RS so I totally avoid them. --Rosiestep (talk) 04:14, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
Looks good. If you'll let me know when you're done with you additions, I'll ce out the verbatim stuff and I'll nom it. Thx --Rosiestep (talk) 03:01, 6 April 2013 (UTC)

Inline Reference Format
[edit]I noticed that you've added references in a particular style, eg. [1] from Aldabra . They aren't rendered in a way that I can understand what they refer to. Perhaps they are pointers to resources that you haven't finished putting in. Perhaps they need some adjustment in the syntax. Perhaps there's something going on that I don't understand. Could you help me understand in which direction these need to be adjusted? It looks like you have a clear idea of what these represent, it would be nice to make sure your valuable contributions reach the end audience. --Wcoole (talk) 00:58, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for the explanation. I see the convenience and expository clarity of being able to tag in multiple places, but only putting the detailed information in the Bibliography. Now that I understand what this tag means, I can decipher what the reference is to. There is still a style problem: the reference (and the resulting tool tip) hyperlink to the References section. The References section hyperlinks to the points where the tags are. Neither hyperlinks to the Bibliography.
By a bit of trial-and-error, I've made some adjustments that make the hyperlinks connect better. The main change was to make the Bibliography data use "last=Coe|first=Malcolm James" in place of the previous "author=" style. It seems like using the "page=" format for the in-line references allows the page to be shown properly.
If you get a chance to look over my changes, you might want to try these style adjustments in your future work. If, on the other hand, you don't agree that the new version is improved, please be so kind as to explain why you think so or point me to a reference that explains how these are intended to be used or how they work.--Wcoole (talk) 23:22, 9 April 2013 (UTC)
Wildlife of Vietnam
[edit]I have left a note at Talk:Wildlife of Vietnam#National parks. I don't see the need to have a draft version of a section in a live article. -- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 10:35, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
I've moved it to Protected areas of Vietnam. Let's not rush the Wildlife article just for the sake of DYK. We did 11 provinces of Vietnam a while back anyway!♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 10:14, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
Wildlife of Vietnam isn't complete though. It has barely any prose about actual wildlife which is what the article is intended for and the fauna section is a big list not prose. Please, no rush. I'd rather it was well-written over time with a broader range of sources than just the national park website and tourism websites. Let that one pass and concentrate on the Protected areas article but I think I'd rather the effort went into expanding the stubs on the individual national parks. Perhaps just add a full list of reserves to the protected areas article underneath? ♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 10:28, 6 April 2013 (UTC)

References for native Dysoxylum species of trees of the Indian subcontinent
[edit]G’day NVVChar from Australia,
thank you for your edits to Australian genera of the plant family Proteaceae, just now.
Please assist me with better reliable reference sources on Dysoxylum species of trees native to the Indian subcontinent, if possible.
I saw your interesting user page after those edits, including your interest in trees and massive WP experience.
I have massively expanded the Dysoxylum genus article recently but the sources i did find for species found naturally there leave a lot to be desired. The best information i got and wrote on the article was "India and Sri Lanka have about four recorded species." by indirect reference from the neighbouring region’s Flora Malesiana.
One assumes there are some good quality, reliable, (and scholarly?) sources for Indian and Sri Lankan flora. I could not find my way through the many different government flora and herbarium websites and also blog pages and so on, to the best sources.
Thank you for reading this and in advance for any reply. ——--macropneuma 03:26, 9 April 2013 (UTC)
Yes, I will try.--Nvvchar. 04:03, 9 April 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you NVVChar for your good faith edit and efforts. I’m very grateful for the effort, responding to my above request; however the information added is in error as it refers to the plant family Meliaceae distribution and numbers of species (statistics), not specifically referring to this Dysoxylum genus. ——--macropneuma 09:10, 9 April 2013 (UTC)

Hi there! Yes yes all is very well in my world, though I do have problems with spring allergies. I think I've just been busy with family, work, etc. and spending less time on the computer. Hope all is well with you. Adding an img to a nom is always nice when it works out but neither of the images in the Bangui Anomaly article would really work for the nom, so best to leave as is, I think. The best way to move this along is to do nothing. I know that is hard. But there are no outstanding issues, so it will not get dropped. The more complicated a DYK discussion looks, the less any reviewers want to get involved. The last line starts with , and says "Still needs a fresh review". Adding anything to that would just make it look more forbidding. It is getting near the top of the list of old nominations, so someone will get round to it eventually.
On the date question, 7th century is extraordinarily old for a mosque. Only a handful are that old, and they are famous. This is not one of them. But "atiq" means "old", and the mosque is certainly very old. The legend that the mosque dates back to the time when the Arabs brought Islam to the oasis is probably true in the sense that soon after they arrived they built a simple mosque where the present one stands. But the Arabs have never been very sentimental about old buildings. By the 12th century the original mosque was probably falling apart, and someone pulled it down and put up the fine mosque that stands there today. Aymatth2 (talk) 14:08, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
- I will not speculate on how the Muslims could have taken the destruction of the Babri Mosque in the "right spirit". I find the hate-filled and homicidal religious fanaticism that led up to and followed the event impossible to reconcile with my image of Hinduism as a mature and tolerant religion. I cannot accept killing people in the name of religion. I do not want to discuss it. Aymatth2 (talk) 00:29, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

I've moved your comments to here. I'm very disappointed in the way you've completely ignored me over this which indicates to me that you have no desire to continue to work together with me. The organization of our work has become incredibly difficult to follow and monitor what you are doing and what has been nominated.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 09:05, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
I put in considerable effort yesterday to try to put some organization into our work. I left you several messages and an email asking for some feedback and you didn't utter a single word in response, yet found the time to post your comments on article completions to Rosie. I found that rather rude Nvv, although I'm pretty sure it wasn't intentional, but it looked like you intentionally skirted the issue for whatever reason. Yes, our talk pages have been mutually exclusive but it has still been done in a haphazard way, having to shift through your or Rosie's talk pages. How am I supposed to remember all of those articles you've nominated for DYK and what exactly needs doing? I'm an organized guy, I'm pretty sure you are too. Having one place for our discussions and a place to monitor our work I thought you'd happily embrace. If you can list new expansions on this page at the bottom of the Current articles list with a date, we can keep track of the five day window and steadily work through them. I'm often guilty of not putting as much effort into our collaborations as I'd have liked, and the reason for that has been losing track of the sheer number of articles and what we're doing if I happen to be not so active for a few days.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 10:33, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
"I attribute this to your's and Rosie's constant goading and support to me to write on various subjects." Goading???? Neither of us "goad" you, we always say "you may be interested in" and Rosie and I made it perfectly clear to you that you can pick and choose what you are happy to write. You're under no obligation to expand everything. Obviously you enjoy working hard and writing here, but my concern, maybe it is Rosie's too I dunno, is that you take DYK way too seriously and everything you do revolves around it. We're pretty loose editors and we don't feel this pressure to have to nominate everything we ever do for the sake of DYK. We write because we like to write. If anything I feel pressured by you urging us to rush articles just to meet the 5 day deadline and is one of the main reasons I've set this up so we are all well aware of how much time is left to edit and nominate. As an editor the first priority after expanding should be "is this readable, of a good quality" not "only one left to nominate for DYK". I get the impression you will not edit an article for anything other than DYK. If you feel we are goading you to overwork I strongly suggest you stop and take a long hard look at why you are here. You are under no obligation to make a single edit here, but we genuinely love having you around and we never thought you'd return to wikipedia. Let's try to take things easier between us and reduce the number of articles we produce together, Quality and readability is most important, not the number of DYKs we churn out.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 11:00, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
As for our achievements, we've done a tremendous amount, but I was only looking yesterday through articles like Dal Lake and Chamba, Himachal Pradesh and marveling at the quality of them. For me those sorts of articles we took the time to gradually improve and attain a higher standard regardless of DYK stand out much more.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 11:27, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
