Naulakha Palace
[edit]- @Dr. Blofeld: I want to start an article on Naulakha Palace but it leads as disambaguation page of Gondal, India. How to resolve this issue. Thanks.--Nvvchar. 14:39, 30 June 2015 (UTC)
Started Naulakha Palace. We've been getting unusually great weather here at the moment and I've been making the most of it! I see Rosie is away until the 6th now, I don't know if she wants to wait for the mining ones or not, it's not a problem for me to wait another week, plenty to be getting on with!♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:05, 30 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Dr. Blofeld:I think Rosie wanted to edit all the articles before posting on DYK. I think we should wait.--Nvvchar. 15:18, 30 June 2015 (UTC)
- Yes I thought the same. Naulakha OK for you now?♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:20, 30 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Dr. Blofeld: Thanks. I will expand it in the next few days. Can you pl look at the additional text I have added here and also record reply in Template:Did you know nominations/Coffee production in Peru.--Nvvchar. 15:37, 30 June 2015 (UTC)
- Char and @Dr. Blofeld: Yes, please wait for me on the mining ones. I'm on vacation but I will be editing as time permits. I'm not sure we should include an Outlook section on the mining articles, i.e. it could be construed as forecasting. Unless one of you has strong feelings about keeping that section in the articles which have it (they don't all have it), I'm inclined to delete it. --Rosiestep (talk) 02:23, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
- @Rosiestep:@Dr. Blofeld: We had based it on some standard article and decided on that pattern. Outlook is not our opinion but sourced to reliable sources. I feel it should be retained.--Nvvchar. 02:38, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
- I know we discussed mining article layout. In reviewing the other mining in Africa articles, the only countries which have an Outlook section are Algeria (which used a U.S. Geological Survey, 2008, reference) Mozambique (U.S. Geological Survey, 2007), and Namibia (U.S. Geological Survey, 2008). I think if we followed suit by using a government reference, or something like UNESCO, it would be ok to have an Outlook section. I've been working on the Malawi article. The Outlook section is sourced to Mbendi. There's no Wikipedia article about Mbendi, nor is there any information about Mbendi in a book, at least not that I found; it does say it is run by 2 men in South Africa. --Rosiestep (talk) 03:55, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
- I'll let Rosie sort it out when she has time. Nvv, I think we should get a Pakistan article up to GA, you know the quality suffers generally on here. I've asked User:Faizan what he'd be interested in promoting. Something like Islamabad or Lahore might be worth it, but it would have to be well watched as I can see it degrading through traffic much like Varanasi.♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:34, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
- @Dr. Blofeld: In Varanasi article there are many unreliable sources which need to be removed along with the text sourced from it. Yes, we can do Lahore provided it is added with more unsourced stuff. --Nvvchar. 16:46, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
- Yes I thought the same. Naulakha OK for you now?♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:20, 30 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Rosiestep:@Dr. Blofeld:Completed my inputs to Naulakha Palace article. May like to edit.--Nvvchar. 17:51, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
- Char, The Guides 2013 ref is missing the Bib section entry so it's showing as "Harv error: link from #CITEREFGuides2013 doesn't point to any citation." I couldn't find the book myself so hoping you can re-locate it. --Rosiestep (talk) 16:50, 3 July 2015 (UTC)
- @Rosiestep:@Dr. Blofeld: How about this hook suggestion ... that the Navalakaha means rupees "nine lakhs" (Rs 900,000) which was its cost of building, and it has impressive stone carvings with exquisite jharokhas (pictured) (balconies) and other features? --Nvvchar. 02:13, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
Simply "that the Navalakaha, a palace in Gondal, India, means "nine lakhs" (Rs 900,000), which was its cost of building" is fine.♦ Dr. Blofeld 04:38, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
Huzoor Palace really should be dabbed and moved to Huzoor Palace, Gondal, can you start Huzoor Palace, Porbandar, that seems to be the best known Huzoor Palace.♦ Dr. Blofeld 07:37, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
- Surprisingly there are hardly any reliable sources to make a DYK of Huzoor Palace, Porbandar. I have created a stub for any further additions.--Nvvchar. 16:20, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
- @Rosiestep:@Dr. Blofeld:Huzoor Palace, Porbandar needs few more ch to add if you can find the references.--Nvvchar. 17:47, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

Char or @Dr. Blofeld: can you please take a look at the reviewer's note here and see what needs to be done: Template:Did you know nominations/Bissau Cathedral, Port of Bissau? I'm at a family event and can't right now. --Rosiestep (talk) 04:04, 3 July 2015 (UTC)
- @Rosiestep: The coffee articles on Guam and Martinique have mostly PD text which are not counted for the length requirement for DYK. Text from other sources are not enough to make up 1500 ch. I can't find any more text with latest information to add to make it 1500ch. They may have to be withdrawn. Pl take a view.--Nvvchar. 15:10, 3 July 2015 (UTC)

- @Rosiestep: Can you kindly look into this problem here Template:Did you know nominations/1630 Crete earthquake?--Nvvchar. 02:32, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
- Kythria Strait needs some additional research and I can't do it right now. Specifically, does it only encompass the area between the Peloponnese, Kythira and Elafonissos, such as pictured here? Does it include that area of water 'plus the area south of Kythira and north of Crete, to include Antikythera, which is mentioned in the lede? Google maps (at least the version I can see) doesn't show a waterway named Kythria (Cythera, or any other alt spelling) so that's a drawback. I would also suggest that the geography sentences/section be merged with the earthquakes, tsunami sentences -- make it one paragraph. One more point the reviewer makes is to split the double hook into 2 hooks; I would support this suggestion. If all this can wait until after 20 July, I can deal with it then. --Rosiestep (talk) 13:39, 7 July 2015 (UTC)@Dr. Blofeld:
- Thanks for the review. There are two articles here Template:Did you know nominations/Warangal Fort, Kakatiya Kala Thoranam and to that extent review needs to be revised.--Nvvchar. 18:11, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
- @Dr. Blofeld: Thanks again. Both artecles appeared in the main page in the lead. How about Varanasi?--Nvvchar. 14:30, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, Varanasi, will definitely get it up to GA within the next few weeks.♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:34, 15 July 2015 (UTC)

As you may know I have collaborated with Rosiestep and Dr. Blofeld in more thn 700 articles. --Nvvchar. 18:28, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you. And yes, I know. Rosie has tried to convince me otherwise, but it is ridiculous how many articles are being pulled back, how many solid DYK pieces are being waylaid while the fluff articles sail by. I am completely and totally discouraged with the whole process. I went to review some articles for Dr. B the other day and found no less than 10 articles that had been approved and pulled back because someone didn't think the hook was "hooky" enough or didn't like the way something was worded. What is interesting as a hook to me, may be totally uninteresting to you, but no where do I see in the DYK criteria does that give anyone the authority to pull it back and yet ... (Steps down of soap box and sits in corner). I'd rather just write articles than deal with the control issues of others. SusunW (talk) 18:39, 13 July 2015 (UTC)

[edit]On 31 July 2015, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Nature Reserve of Saint Bartholomew, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Nature Reserve of Saint Bartholomew, which includes Île Frégate, is battling an invasion of lionfish? You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |
