The hits just keep on coming ...
The article Gernatt Asphalt Products, Inc. has just been added to Wikipedia. Paging EEng; and if interested, OrangeMike and Ad Orientem. I find this very odd considering DGG's two warnings last month: [1] and [2]. It's basically merely a renaming and revival of Gernatt Family of Companies, which Dekema2 nominated for deletion in November, and the consensus was to merge to Daniel R. Gernatt, Sr. The article creator, Daniellagreen, has created 13 articles/templates on the Gernatt family, 7 of which have been AfDed. Softlavender (talk) 00:10, 31 December 2014 (UTC)
- Oh my. I will take a look at this when I get a few minutes. But given the problematic track record of the editor I think we need to give this article more than a cursory spot check. The two main issues that we need to get a clean bill of health on are notability and potential promotionalism. That said, I am not prejudging the article. At this point I haven't done anything more than glance at it. -Ad Orientem (talk) 00:27, 31 December 2014 (UTC)
- Update: After being notified, DGG redirected the article to Daniel R. Gernatt, Sr. per the previous AfD. As per comments on his Talk page and a new warning on Daniellagreen's Talk page, he cannot take admin action because of prior involvement, so if there continue to be problems, unless some other admin chooses to act, it will be necessary to take it to ANI. Softlavender (talk) 01:50, 31 December 2014 (UTC)
- Hopefully it won't come to all that. Let's see how the editor responds to the friendly advice given to her by DGG and others. Her editing style has definitely improved though; - Gernatt Asphalt Products, Inc. is fairly succinct as opposed to the usual bloat we are accustomed to. - NQ (talk) 15:46, 31 December 2014 (UTC)

Newspaper article
Hi NQ, hope you had a good Christmas/New Year. I know you are on a break at the moment but I am in no rush (I have just had 2 weeks away from WP myself). If you get chance could you check if you have access to the following article: http://www.newspapers.com/newspage/52740252/. Many thanks - Dumelow (talk) 17:29, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
- Never mind, just realised it was one of the batch you sent me last time! All the best - Dumelow (talk) 17:30, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

You have been doing a great work at WP:RX. Much needed and appreciated. Skr15081997 (talk) 10:34, 13 January 2015 (UTC) |

Giving warnings
Hi, I noticed you have given the final warning to 180.43.66.137 before the third, second and first warnings. That's not how the final warning should be used, use the only warning template for that instead. Thank you. --ToonLucas22 (talk) 19:32, 19 January 2015 (UTC)
- @ToonLucas22: Hi. Thanks for the note. Since the IPs appear to be dynamic in nature and is obviously the same user, it's often best to request page protection at WP:RFPP to stop the disruption, rather than reporting them to WP:AIV or opening an SPI like you did. - NQ (talk) 07:01, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

protecting people
Thank you for quality articles for inviting new users, warning others for vandalism, nonsense, unconstructive, not neutral view, conflict of interest, for answering resource requests, for thorough clean-up, for not only removing copyvio but also finding sources and rewording (Kevin Anderson), for protecting fellow editors, - you are an awesome Wikipedian!

- Thank you so very much Gerda. You are a lovely angel on this encyclopedia. - See SL, I TOO am an awesome Wikipedian. - NQ (talk) 08:52, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
- Hmm. Maybe it's time I unwatch this page. I actually for some reason didn't get pinged (yet?), I noticed Gerda's mysterious edit summary. And then again we already knew you were awesome .
(I don't know how to do the Gerda spy thing on that.)Softlavender (talk) 09:37, 22 January 2015 (UTC)

- I use "awesome" because those before me did, starting in 2007. Study the early ones (bottom of the list), each one with a personally selected poem! My first - not yet called Precious then - came three years ago (yesterday), see? My battle and my klatsch, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:54, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
- @Softlavender: Well, my talk page may not be one of the most fun places on Wikipedia like that of EEng, but hey, that's no reason to un watch. - NQ (talk) 10:00, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
- @Gerda Arendt: Does that mean I get to display this userbox on my user page? - NQ (talk) 10:00, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
- You can display it, - it's old style, showing tradition ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:23, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
- Is there a new style? :) - NQ (talk) 10:36, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
- Funny question ;) - not yet, create one if you like, - I don't need it, too small a box, and no round corners ;) - I show the whole message, received in 2010, on my user page. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:15, 22 January 2015 (UTC)

Query
Knock, knock ... you there? I have a follow-up Q re: the Gale libraries. I have found the PDF-form pages of another company in its most-recent International Directory of Company Histories iteration per your excellent instructions. I want to use it as a reference in a wiki article. How do I change the (restricted) PDF file to a Google Drive doc like you provided for me for another company? I hate to sound like I haven't a clue, but I HAVEN'T A CLUE. (Also, the Google Drive doc you provided for me previously no longer exists. Does that mean you delete these things after a while? Or that Gale was able to have it deleted? Or what?)
By the way, I found an Awesome Wikipedian ("Precious") userbox on Hafspajen's userpage, about 14 userboxes down (to find the code in edit view → Control+F awesome). Gerda needs to get with the program. . Softlavender (talk) 09:07, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
- If you turn to the list, you find the former userbox (created before I took over, so before "Precious") rather below, after the 1000 or so precious, and something (not a box) in more br'erly style rather on top. - I have only one user boy, but kept the original message on my user page since 2010, because it made my day. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:22, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
- ps: for background, see the discussion which lead to the new "box", --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:24, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
- @Softlavender: Hi! You cannot link to most of the materials obtained through WP:RX, as many, including gale resources are copyrighted and not in the public domain. Editors can only cite them on Wikipedia without linking to the actual content. They are not allowed to publish and/or pass them on to others, as it effectively constitutes copyright infringement. Simply put, If you have access to a restricted database via an institution or otherwise, you may download the content to conduct research and/or use them as a bare reference, but you may not upload it to services like Google drive for public viewing. Usually at the RX, editors share resources only through email exchanges, but since some users don't wish to disclose their email address, to make things easier, I upload the pdf to the drive, send the link via the wiki-mail interface and delete it soon after the material is successfully downloaded. - NQ (talk) 13:08, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
- Gerda , SL - No more userboxes. Just simple text. :) - NQ (talk) 15:18, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
- K thanks NQ; hadn't bothered to actually look at your userpage. :) I'm still going to try to figure out how make a Google Drive doc so I can have the reference at hand on my screen while I add to the article in question. I suppose registering a Google Drive account is the first step. Softlavender (talk) 01:30, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
- Update: NP, figured it out ... -- Softlavender (talk) 02:57, 22 February 2015 (UTC)

Request for a newspaper
Hey Nick,
I'm looking for the 1 August 1926 edition of the Los Angeles Examiner. I'm looking for an article entitled "Kemal Promises More Hangings of Political Antagonists in Turkey". Please let me know if you found it. Thanks, Étienne Dolet (talk) 02:46, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Étienne Dolet, I was not able to locate archives of the Los Angeles Examiner online. However I did find this scan along with this which contains the article you are looking for. Regards, - NQ (talk) 03:14, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
- That's good enough. Thank you! Étienne Dolet (talk) 18:56, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
How are you able to find every specific study that I've requested in the past?
I was wondering how you are able to locate scientific studies. You seem amazingly good at it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joey13952 alternate account (talk • contribs) 00:46, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
- All the resources you've requested so far have been open access and are freely available online. I’m going to take the liberty to personally thank you (Barnstars being rather unusual at de.wiki) for your great work at RX and it’s German counterpart. It’s people like you who make Wikipedia great! Regards ✦ hugarheimur 20:54, 30 March 2015 (UTC)
French resource request
Aloha. I need to request
- Gélineau (Jean-Claude). - Renoir, sa fille Jeanne Tréhot et l'Orne. - In : L'Orne au XIXe siècle. Culture et société, Bulletin de al Société Historique et Archéologique de l'Orne, CXXII, 3, septembre, 2003. - p. 33-60 : ill.
Should I request this on fr.wikipedia? I tried to find the request page there but had no luck. Any ideas? Viriditas (talk) 01:46, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hi @Viriditas: as far as I know, the French Wikipedia does not have an equivalent of RX. I couldn't find this particular journal or the subsequent 2007 book anywhere online. It has been digitized by Google from the University of Michigan Buhr Library but is only available as snippet view. I've reached out to a few people who might have a copy and if I don't hear back in a day or two, you can try your luck over at the german request page - de:WP:BIBA. - NQ (talk) 05:30, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
I'm sorry about the RX thing
I should have checked before posting links at WP:RX. I'm really sorry about this. Thanks for the journal article.--Skr15081997 (talk) 14:02, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
- @Skr15081997: It's not a big deal. Don't worry about it. - NQ (talk) 14:04, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
- I will clip those articles very soon and in a few months Symphony Six would be at FAC. Thanks a lot for all your help.--Skr15081997 (talk) 14:14, 5 April 2015 (UTC)

I want to thank you for helping me find sources that I otherwise would not have been to obtain for the article Romance (Luis Miguel album) which has now been to featured article! Thank you so much for your help! Erick (talk) 14:22, 24 April 2015 (UTC) |
- Hi Erick, thank you very much for the note and great job on both Romance and Romances. If you plan to take Segundo Romance to FA status, let me know, I'll try to dig up sources. Regards - NQ (talk) 02:20, 30 April 2015 (UTC)
