What is this about him being taken off the project by Square Enix and asked to resign? What is the source for this? Partly because it shouldn't be in here unsourced, but also partly because that is fascinating and I want to know more. If true, was it due to the constant delay, or something else? Klondike 09:55, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

——Nobody knows any concrete details about Matsuno's departure. There is only rumor and hearsay and educated guesswork, though I have added a bit of interesting information regarding Yiazmat in Final Fantasy XII which should give some insight as to how the rest of the development team feels about it. It is indeed fascinating Sirchode 22:51, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And presumably you have a source for this, right? Because educated guesswork and rumor is not an acceptable source for an encyclopedia. Rebochan 19:20, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The source is the game itself, there are very noteworthy events and dialogues in the game which are all relative to the subject at hand. There is of course room for interpretation (as intended by the developers obviously), but they can be very helpful in putting together the pieces of this puzzle we're discussing. And what do you propose is a legitimate source for in-game dialogue? A series of screenshots? Sirchode 00:35, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sourcing in-game dialogue is done through an in-line reference with a dialogue transcript. Check some of the other Final Fantasy articles for format. Furthermore, there's no reference in the entire article to what these rumors are. While Yiazmat is an obvious tribute to Matsuno, it does *not* suddenly lend credibility to fan-made rumors about his departure. it only proves that the development team misses him, which also supports a departure related to illness. That's what you need a source for.Rebochan 11:57, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Added a link to another Wikipedia article which corroborates the information about Montblanc. Now you can go bug whoever wrote that article for a source! Sirchode 00:55, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

——I heard it was for health reasons.Acewolf359 18:14, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can we get someone to include information on his role in the Ogre Battle and Tactics Ogre games, similar to what's present with FFT, VS and FFXII? Sirchode 18:23, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Monolith Soft Rumor

[edit]

I just wanted bring this to the attention of my fellow editers, that someone keeps adding that matsuno/monolith rumor, we already know that he's possibly cooking up something with sakimoto we dont need anymore tackey rumors, it's not even sourced for crying out loud. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.244.16.205 (talk) 17:50, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll take a look at this, and will be back with comments within a day or so.--AlexandraIDV 07:36, 30 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Lead and infobox
  • Green tickY Should probably use the notable_works, known_for and employer parameters in the infobox, and fill out Ogre Battle and FF Tactics, Tactical role-playing game, and Quest/Square/Level-5/Algebra Factory
  • Green tickY first introduced to video game either you're missing a word or two, or "game" should be plural
  • Green tickY Italicize game titles
  • Green tickY Should mention what kind of companies Quest and Square are, and when he joined them
  • Green tickY The console is just called the Wii
  • Green tickY Consider adding years in parentheses after game titles to give an idea of the time frame
  • Green tickY You don't need quotation marks around his company's name. Something like In 2016 he founded his own company, Algebra Factory works
  • Green tickY Consider writing out the acronym MMORPG in full the first time it is used, like massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), as we write for a general audience and not just video game enthusiasts
  • Green tickY Should probably use a possessive apostrophe-S after Final Fantasy XIV for clarity. Also link expansion to Expansion pack.
  • Green tickY "Return to Ivalice" is a part of a work, similarly to a chapter in a book or a song on an album, so should not be italicized, but surrounded by quotation marks. Same goes for when it is mentioned later in the article body.
  • Green tickY Link raid to Raid (video games)
  • Green tickY It was well received and created a new scenario entitled Save the Queen: Blades of Gunnhildr for the next Final Fantasy XIV expansion Shadowbringers. - "Save the Queen" should be formatted the same way as "Return to Ivalice"; there should probably be a comma after "the next Final Fantasy XIV expansion"; and most importantly, what does "and created a new scenario"? How does an MMO raid create anything?
Early life
  • Green tickY I believe the phrasing "the Nintendo Entertainment System" is more common than without "the".
  • Green tickY The last two sentences are not backed up by any reference.
Quest
  • Green tickY Even the "Rhyan Sea" in the Ogre Battle world is named after "Seven Seas of Rhye". - what is the Rhyan Sea? If it's just the name of a sea, I would suggest removing the quotation marks and adding in something like ", a location in the...."
  • Green tickY Is there any reason for the inconsistency between referring to the system as the Super NES and the Super Famicom?
  • Green tickY Link grand strategy to grand strategy wargame
Square and Square Enix
  • Green tickY Smaller in scope than Final Fantasy Tactics, it was still highly regarded implies that small scope and being held in high regard are in some kind of opposition, which isn't true - I would remove "still".
  • Green tickY You should briefly explain what the PlayOnline project is.
  • Green tickY There is a freely usable picture of Sakaguchi in our article about him - would work well here
Freelance period and Level-5
  • Green tickY Several people linked to here have available images, too. I understand if not all can be used since they're all mentioned in quick succession, but one or two might work. Hino seems like a particularly important figure in this section, since he got Matsuno to join Level-5, so I'm thinking having a picture of him might be the best choice.
Game design
  • Green tickY We have an article about the original Star Wars trilogy specifically, so I would suggest linking to Star Wars Trilogy rather than the Star Wars franchise in general
Works
  • Green tickY Like before, single scenarios or raids should not be italicized, and should be written within quotation marks
References
  • Green tickY All are secondary RSs, or primary sources used for uncontroversial facts, so no problems here

All right, I think that's all - sorry for taking a little longer than expected. I will put this review on hold for seven days - ping me if you have any questions or when you have addressed the points I brought up, and I will respond asap.--AlexandraIDV 13:04, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
