Looks good
[edit]There'a solid non-stub article here. Once it's released, I'm sure there will be more information about its reception, and the article can be expanded. Maybe even achieve good article status one day. Randomran (talk) 21:02, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
- It's a start. I actually put a little more work into the leftover summary in the Wii Remote article, which itself might need a little refinement. Dancter (talk) 21:23, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
- I've updated all the wikilinks I could find for the subject. I have not added a link to {{Wii}}. If there is enough support for the split, then someone else will add it. Dancter (talk) 21:28, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
New section
[edit]Should include a section of all the games that support this tech —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.161.189.107 (talk) 23:53, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
Logo
[edit]Shouldn't we have the logo on this page, above the picture? (24.107.104.178 (talk) 03:12, 13 June 2009 (UTC))
Nintendo's marketing babble in WP articles?
[edit]"with a high dynamic range, high mechanical shock tolerance, high temperature and humidity resistance, and small physical size." High compared to what? Both sources cited don't look independent to me. --Contributions/217.232.243.242 (talk) 13:19, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
All those things you quoted seem fine to me. Look each word up in the dictionary if you are confused of their meanings. Just because you can't understand it, doesn't mean it is babble. And high means here "high enough", presumably high enough to produce useful readings and survive shock and temperature ranges expected of a consumer level product. 219.90.179.144 (talk)
Software compatibility?
[edit]Is the MotionPlus backwards compatibility with existing games (i.e. will they automatically get more accurate controls)? Will it be supported in all games going forward or only on select titles? 207.58.192.150 (talk) 16:11, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- Answers to both of your questions:
- No.
- Only on software which is designed to support it.
- Do you have any suggestions on how to make this clearer in the article? Dancter (talk) 16:19, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- I added a section on Compatibility. Object In Space (talk) 19:56, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
- For the games listed, is the MotionPlus strictly required (e.g. can you still play them w/o it, with reduced accuracy)? 207.58.192.150 (talk) 14:55, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
- I added a section on Compatibility. Object In Space (talk) 19:56, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
But it seems to actually work on the original Wii Sports so you can hook more in Bowling. Frankyboy5 (talk) 19:49, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
- Is it possible the addition of additional weight on the back end of the remote simply shifts the center of gravity in your hand, thus making it easier to control? You can't really shift your grip too much without losing contact with the buttons, so maybe it's not a technology improvement, but a balance improvement.
About the Wii-mote Jacket
[edit]The picture on the box i saw at a store looked like it showed the device not connected to the Wii-mote, yet still in the sleeve. Please tell me that the thing isn't permanently attached to that damn thing, cuz i hate those dumb sleeves. If i have to, i'll rip it off.The Great Morgil (talk) 02:24, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
- It's not attached, but Nintendo recommend that you never remove it from the sleeve. There's nothing stopping you though. Object In Space (talk) 17:59, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure that the version in the picture has 2 small "feet" that stick out the bottom of the jacket and hold it in.--24.34.9.24 (talk) 05:22, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
- It is hooked into the sleeve with the aforementioned feet and two nubs in the sleeve plastic that stick into the screw holes of the sensor unit, but it is not irremovably attached. Nevertheless, the sensor unit is not designed to be removed from the sleeve, and removing it leaves an ugly gap at the transition, the feet and expansion cover prevent placing the thing vertically without a sleeve, the connection appears to be a little loose and there might be additional stress on the clamps that might lead to early failure. 87.123.43.214 (talk) 10:46, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

Does MotionPlus really have a single dual-axis gyro?
[edit]The page currently states:
The device incorporates a dual-axis "tuning fork" angular rate sensor, which can determine rotational motion.
At least one of the refeneces appears to back this up, but does it only have one? This interview with some Nintendo engineers says:
combine the Wii Remote’s accelerometer with a gyro sensor, it can detect movement along 6 different axes.
6 different axis implies 3 gyros to go with the 3 accelerometers. The reverse enginnering going on here also indicates 3 gyros. Given all that, I wonder if the MotionPlus really uses a single InvenSense IDG-600 dual-axis gyro - surely it must either have two of them, or it uses something else entirely.192.171.3.126 (talk) 11:35, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
- Me again. This page from InvenSense describes a setup of one dual-axis XY gyro, and one single axis Z gyro for a game controller (plus accelerometers). This pdf shows a three chip collection of one XY-gyro, one Z-gyro, and one XYZ-accelerometer (although InvenSense do not make the Wiimote's accelerometers).192.171.3.126 (talk) 13:00, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
- The section was meant to be worded ambiguously enough to allow for the possibility of multiple sensors. The presence of an IDG-600 is what was reported at the time. Dancter (talk) 13:19, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
- Me again again. I Googled a bit, and discovered the Wii MotionPlus also appears to have an Epson X3500W single axis gyro, as well as the InvenSense IDG 600 dual axis. For example here or here. So what are the Wikipedia reference requirements again? 79.199.77.169 (talk) 17:18, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
- I don't believe the actual model number can actually be confirmed based on what has been shown (Why would it be X3500W, rather than XV-3500W, or XV-3500CBW?). I think you could mention that based a similar form and markings to the XV-3500CB, a microchip identified in a teardown of the Wii MotionPlus is believed to be a one-axis rate gyro by Epson Toyocom. As for standards for reliable sources, you may want to seek references that are not open wikis. With respect to editing, go ahead and be bold. Hopefully I or someone else can help as necessary, but my focus has been on other articles. Dancter (talk) 16:42, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

- I would note that the PS3's SIXAXIS controller is also claimed to detect movement along six axes, but only has one single-axis gyro to supplement the accelerometers. Dancter (talk) 13:31, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
- I think it's pretty solidly known that the Motion Plus has one dual-axis gyro and an additional single-axis gyro now. Reverse-engineering of the hardware and the TWI-like communication protocol has shown that. Source: http://www.wiibrew.org/wiki/Wiimote/Extension_Controllers#Wii_Motion_Plus for example. I will change the article accordingly. 141.83.115.17 (talk) 15:19, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
Zelda Wii
[edit]It was recently confirmed that Miyamoto is putting MP into the next Zelda game, is it worth including it yet? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.232.157.117 (talk) 21:34, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

Supported Games
[edit]The list of supported games is incomplete, using Amazon website is possible to see some games that are not on the list, for example NHL 2K11. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 187.86.208.10 (talk) 16:28, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
Zelda Bundled
[edit]Due to the release of the Wii Remote Plus, there is a very very small chance that Skyward Sword will be bundled with the Wii Motion Plus. Should we remove the question? Alshain01 (talk) 18:23, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
Do we really need a list of supported games?
[edit]I believe this list of supported games is irrelevant and not notable. This should be removed --Ryan Vesey (talk) 23:39, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
I would like for the list to make its way back... it's very useful! For example, Star Wars Unleashed 2 was released but didn't support Motion Plus :( The Wii Balance Board has a similar list that is still going strong. --Chicknfood (talk) 05:03, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
Empty Space
[edit]Is there any way to remove all of the white space by Wii Remote Plus?Ryan Vesey (talk) 13:00, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
- There's a specific template that makes the next section start after the end of the infobox (it look like this: {{-}}); simply remove that and "Third-party accessories" will start directly below the "Wii Remote Plus" paragraph instead. However, if you do remove it I would recommend placing another one at the end of either "Third-party accessories" or "See also", as otherwise it will stack with the references section.
- Alternatively, the infobox could simply be removed - all the info is already covered in the Wii Remote and Wii Motion Plus infoboxes anyway (the image should be retained as a thumbnail if that approach is taken though).
- Alphathon /'æl.f'æ.ðɒn/ (talk) 13:42, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
- Do you believe it would be better if we removed the infobox then? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ryan Vesey (talk • contribs) 18:10, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

“Successor”
[edit]Wii U was the least successful product Nintendo ever made, so why does it say “and it’s successor, the wii u.”? 185.176.247.191 (talk) 18:59, 9 June 2024 (UTC)
