Typhoon Damrey (2017)Typhoon Damrey – Typhoon Damrey caused desolation to the country of Vietnam. Hundreds of people were killed and it caused quite a lot of damage. INeedSupport (talk) 15:18, 9 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You should also note that despite the tragic loss of life, there have been many other typhoons/West Pacific storms that have caused much greater losses. Unless this storm's name gets retired, the storm should have caused at least billions in damages or thousands of deaths, to warrant such a title change. It would have been a valid reason had the damage/losses been great enough. However, this is not the case, and there have been many other typhoons (and even tropical storms) that caused significantly more damage than this storm in the same basin. • Oppose per LightandDark2000. While this Damrey has been deadly and caused widespread effects in Vietnam, looking at monetary losses, damage isn't at catastrophic levels (below US$1 billion right now). FWIW this is neither the costliest nor the strongest incarnation of Damrey. ~ KN2731 {tc} 08:24, 12 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
