When I saw this after my birthday vacation, I was amazed at hw low the standards in WPAC are for an article. Just because a new user created it doesn't mean you should worship it. Your rather disgusted Wikipedian, 🐔 Chicdat Bawk to me! 10:34, 7 October 2020 (UTC)
- There's absolutely no reason to merge an article on a storm that's caused 6 deaths and >US$30 million in damage. Even if it is a stub at this point, it can certainly be expanded – there are numerous Vietnamese news articles covering water rescues, power outages, building damage, agricultural damage, and repair/recovery efforts, see here, here, here, and here. - If you're talking about six-death storms, I can tell you right on the spot that six deaths doesn't necessarily mean the storm is notable. About 100 storms have taken this exact path. I'll give you three WPAC storms that caused six deaths and don't have articles.
- Tropical Storm Kajiki 2019
- Tropical Storm Danas 2019
- Another Tropical Storm Kajiki (but in 2014)
- Maybe the article standards aren't so low after all. 🐔 Chicdat Bawk to me! 10:07, 9 October 2020 (UTC)
- First, WP:OSE. Second, all tropical cyclones are by default notable as they receive significant coverage by independent reliable sources, even more so given the sources I've listed above. Third, quality is not a reason to merge an article that actually has potential to be improved since that completely goes against the idea of building an encyclopedia (which is why we're here in the first place, no?). ~ KN2731 {talk · contribs} 11:50, 9 October 2020 (UTC)
