The article says it was the first crosser since forrest in 1992, im fairly sure though Typhoon Manny (1993) crossed in to the NIO from the WPAC. Per:http://groups.google.com/group/sci.geo.meteorology/browse_thread/thread/693d4a465e0c6cc/542271daf5f96c87?

Also here is a copy of the IMD BT for Linda - It comes from the Excell spreadsheet that is downloadable from their site. i was just sayin what the jtwc report said. also, jtwc has manny dissipating over the malay peninsula, so it wouldnt count. Viennaiswaiting (talk) 17:27, 22 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

also, can you give me a link to the IMD report?? Viennaiswaiting (talk) 17:30, 22 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
i will look in to Manny a bit further as i may off made a mistake The IMD and JMA BTs dont seem to match. Heres the Link to the IMD BT you have to click on Best Tracks Data (1990 - 2008) and open it in Excel and scroll through to the 1997 data.Jason Rees (talk) 17:53, 22 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
thx bro. everything with manny makes sense. it dissipated over malay on the 16th, and maybe reformed on the 19th as BOB 5. --Viennaiswaiting (talk) 18:09, 22 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

GAN

[edit]

Just to clarify, this article is not a WikiCup nomination, as all of the work was done before this year. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 20:06, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'll take on this review. --Starstriker7(Talk) 20:58, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Criterion 1 (clear/concise prose, spelling/grammar correct [a]; complies with MOS guides on lead, layout, W2W, fiction, and list incorporation)

[edit]

Lead

[edit]
  • "was the worst typhoon in Vietnam in at least 100 years" -> was a Pacific typhoon and the worst storm to hit Vietnam in at least 100 years?
  • "Several countries around the world sent relief aid, including medical teams, food, and clothing, and ultimately the food supply and health status of the storm victims were not as bad as originally feared." - This sentence seems awkward to me. Do you mean they helped until the problem was alleviated, or that they came and found that the problem wasn't as bad as expected?
  • "killing at least 164 deaths." --> causing at least 164 deaths.

Meteorological history

[edit]

Impact and aftermath

[edit]

Criterion 2 (all info cited, inline refs and ref section used [a]; reliable sources cite challengeable info [b]; NOR [c])

[edit]

Criterion 3 (addresses all main aspects of topic [a]; well-focused [b])

[edit]

Criterion 4 (no undue weight)

[edit]

Looks fine here.

Criterion 5 (stable)

[edit]

Stable is looks indeed.

[edit]

Looks good here.

Overall comments

[edit]

The edit history tells me that you didn't do a great deal of work on this article. I must say, nice find! I'll put this on hold for a week or so to give you time to work on this, although I'm sure it won't take so long to patch up. --Starstriker7(Talk) 22:07, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I did do most of the work. For a time, I edited under the name Viennaiswaiting to see what it was like being a new user and get a fresh new start. I'll get these issues in a minute. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 23:51, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, I think that should do it! :) --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 00:34, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Almost...! You forgot to change "Ca Mau" into the Vietnamese spelling in a few places, and I also replied to your comment regarding the first sentence in the lead; I still don't feel so good about it. Otherwise, you've addressed everything else. :) --Starstriker7(Talk) 07:30, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I won't push my lead concern any further. It won't affect the GA review, so no worries.
I'll pass the article momentarily. Congrats on another one. :) --Starstriker7(Talk) 05:55, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming the page

[edit]

I wonder why the page is called Tropical Storm Linda? It is neither classified as a tropical storm on the scale, and it is both a severe tropical storm and a typhoon. Destroyeraa (talk) 19:03, 22 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Destroyeraa: - WPAC severe tropical storms are simply titled "Tropical Storm X". Titles should be as precise and concise as possible. Seeing as the JMA classified it as a (S)TS, it's named TS Linda. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 19:12, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
