Is it really needed ?

[edit]

Hey, um... so Tropical Storm Danny finally dissipated, so......is it required (just asking you guys) Beraniladri19 🌀🌀 09:37, 29 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Also it haven't done much damage as Claudette did Beraniladri19 🌀🌀 09:38, 29 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'll check for more impacts from Danny locally at South Carolina and I think this article can stay (in the meantime). 🌀HurricaneParrot🐦 10:27, 29 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I found many references about Danny (more informations, rainfall amounts from the storm in South Carolina and Georgia). I'll update the article later. 🌀HurricaneParrot🐦 12:04, 29 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Tropical Storm Don (2011) and Tropical Storm Ana (2009) have articles because they required tropical cyclone warnings for the United States while causing only minimal damage.DachshundLover82 (talk) 16:25, 29 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

DachshundLover82, Ok can I move to the mainspace ? Beraniladri19 🌀🌀 03:02, 30 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I think Danny's draft can now be moved to the mainspace. Also good for a C-class. 🌀HurricaneParrot🐦 04:13, 30 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
HurricaneParrot, i agree, the draft is now ready. HurricaneEdgar 04:19, 30 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
HurricaneParrot, Ok then moving to mainspace Beraniladri19 🌀🌀 05:08, 30 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hey I can't move this, there's already a redirect page Beraniladri19 🌀🌀 05:12, 30 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Beraniladri19, I already submit afc, to prevent copy paste move we should wait for now. HurricaneEdgar 05:18, 30 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Chicdat, Hey why did you remove the AfC tag ? There's a redirect page here which obstruct us to move to a mainspace so should we use the cut-paste move (manual move) Beraniladri19 🌀🌀 11:41, 30 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Beraniladri19: I requested deletion of the redirect. Once an admin deletes it, we'll have no trouble in moving the draft to namespace. 🏳️‍🌈 Chicdat  Bawk to me! 11:45, 30 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Chicdat, ok gr8 Beraniladri19 🌀🌀 11:48, 30 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Beraniladri19: It's not a good idea to deliberately make copy-paste moves, since this just wastes more administrator time than just deleting the target redirect page (and histmerging is also logged in the merge log, not the move log). Administrators will gladly delete a redirect under CSD G6 in order to make way for a move. Chlod (say hi!) 15:35, 30 June 2021 (UTC) (please ping on reply)[reply]
Chlod, Ok, but the matter has solved thanks to Chicdat. Beraniladri19 🌀🌀 15:48, 30 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Beraniladri19: I know, but just for future reference to avoid mistakes. Chlod (say hi!) 15:54, 30 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Merge?

Tropical storm Danny was not really that notable. Danny was very short lived and weak. The damage was very minimal and insignificant. I don’t think the article is needed anymore IBlazeCat (talk) 23:42, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Neutral There is a significant amount of information, but with $5,000 I’m not sure it passes WP:GNG to have an article. 209.201.121.4 (talk) 15:00, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose – This article has enough information to stand on its own, and while it may not have been very notable, it was a notable storm and passes WP:GNG. This article contains too much information to merge into the season article without losing key information, and at least one editor (User:Destroyeraa) has told me off-wiki that he can find enough information to get this article to GA. LightandDark2000 🌀 (talk) 04:19, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose The IP's point There is a significant amount of information; that is what "notable" means. There is a significant amount of information, therefore Danny is notable. 🐔dat (talk) 11:24, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but my neutrality comes from WP:INDISCRIMINATE. And there have been good and even featured articles which have been merged due to a lack of notability. Besides the TCR, I couldn’t find any WP:LASTING coverage, and the TCR comes out for every storm. Tropical Storm Mindy doesn’t have an article, it was shot down after a discussion. Danny just feels like another Mindy. Merging would cause a severe loss of information, but articles shouldn’t just be fluffed either. 209.201.121.4 (talk) 15:12, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Impacts provided are just WP:ROUTINE coverage that happens with every storm that affects land, which doesn't make them notable. Yes, Danny may meet GNG, but so does every other tropical cyclone that's existed. For a TC to have an article, its impacts should be notable and different from others, and a few thousand dollars in damage, rain, power outages, and flooding isn't something people will remember. Tropical Depression 08W (2021)'s article is similar to Danny's in amount and type of impact, and since 08W's article got merged, I don't see why Danny's shouldn't be either. Akbermamps 15:32, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • We don't get to pick and choose what's notable and what's not notable. Danny requires an article because of the information provided to us via its TCR. Removing the article would not only bloat the main article, but would then force us to remove important information. There's enough information in the article for it stand on its own. I agree with LightandDark200 and Oppose the merge. Gumballs678 talk 01:48, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
      • I'd argue that the impacts can easily get compressed into a few sentences, e.g. "Several warnings were issued for parts of South Carolina. Ten people were rescued in North Carolina, with a weather station recording gusts of...". The specifics of what warnings were issued where aren't important information. 08W's preparations and impacts were arguably more detailed and harder to compress than Danny's, and yet it got overwhelming consensus to merge for much of the same reasons I provided above. Akbermamps 02:46, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per LightandDark2000 and see example Tropical Storm Arthur (2020) HurricaneEdgar 22:42, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge. The content can easily be condensed into a two paragraph section for the season article. There isn't enough content here to sustain the article. As another user said to me online, there are average thunderstorms that were worse than Danny. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 00:33, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per LightandDark2000 and HurricaneEdgar. Arthur was a tropical storm that almost never hit land (except for the weak impacts in North Carolina) and even was promoted to a GA. Severestorm28 20:45, 3 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Indifferent While there could be a chance that the article could be promoted into a GA, it's heavily unlikely. I'd say that, depending on the quality, the article should be kept. Otherwise, a merge is more useful. Mobius Gerig (talk) 09:46, 5 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support merge. Although there was a fair amount of media coverage, I'm not convinced that an article for Danny is justified, as it was, according to the TCR, a "small tropical storm" that "caused no significant damage." As others have said, the contents of the current article can easily be stated in a couple paragraphs in the storm's section of the season article. Drdpw (talk) 16:14, 5 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Support I think, as the same as @Drdpw, despite being some information to make a full page, Tropical Storm Danny (2021) should be integrated into the @2021 Atlantic hurricane season, because it was an irrelevant storm. Scre2010 (talk) 00:59, 19 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose merge DONT MERGE IT DONT!!!!!! 66.212.145.14 (talk) 03:39, 20 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
