TomskaThomas Ridgewell – It would be more appropriate for an encyclopedia to use his birth name instead of his YouTube username. TomSka can be redirected to Thomas Ridgewell. Also, it would suit the format of other YouTube video makers associated with him such as Charlie McDonnell (charlieissocoollike) and Liam Dryden (littleradge). Change of TurboPunch to CakeBomb

[edit]

Is this change correct? —BarrelProof (talk) 20:27, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

That's accurate, TurboPunch came much later - Geesi (talk) 03:11, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Why isn't there anything about TurboPunch? OblivionWingTech (talk) 16:40, 26 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Probably because no secondary sources reported on the matter. TurboPunch is a network by and for TomSka, as was CakeBomb. Lordtobi () 16:41, 26 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

TomskaTomSka – Suggested in the recently closed RM without opposition. Seems to be more common than "Tomska". —BarrelProof (talk) 20:33, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Don't Hug Me I'm Scared

[edit]

This article should probably bring up the fact that TomSka was an executive producer and voice actor for the YouTube series "Don't Hug Me I'm Scared." 108.88.114.250 (talk) 18:09, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

He explained in one of his videos that he is only credited as director because of his high funding through Kickstarter, not his actual influence on the show. Secondly he does not have a voice role. Lordtobi () 18:12, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
yes he does
he voices the Magnet in DHMIS 6 LittleMAHER1 (talk) 03:03, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Animator

[edit]

Ok, given this edit can we once and for all formally decide if TomSka is an animator? Has he received any animation credits? Best, Nicnote • ask me a question • contributions 22:50, 2 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I certainly don't think that this applies: Out of his "Cartoons" playlist only 1 out of 22 videos were made by him, from his asdfmovie playlist, 0 out of 16 were made by him, so 1 from 38 videos in total would not mark him as an animator, especially since that one video he actually made himself is from 2008, so even if he was an animator, he is no longer active as such. That's like calling every independent video game developer that released their game themselves a publisher, just because they published their own game once. Lordtobi () 16:25, 3 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Nicnote and Lordtobi: This is a long-running in-joke among TomSka's fanbase. — foxj 01:54, 4 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Well then, this "factual" joke should definetly not be included. Lordtobi () 06:17, 4 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Projects worked on

[edit]

Why is there no list of projects that he has worked on? He IS a filmmaker too, and just because it's uploaded to YouTube doesn't mean it's not a film. OblivionWingTech (talk) 16:42, 26 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Mostly because of WP:CATALOGUE, as most videos aren't covered in reliable, secondary sources, but you could create a list of notable works (with proper sources) though. Lordtobi () 16:51, 26 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

DarkSquidge youtube channel

[edit]

He's already gotten the silver play button for DarkSquidge, should this be added to the fact box too? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.15.57.199 (talk) 19:55, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm... I think a separate section + infobox would be more applicable for this case. Lordtobi () 20:08, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

asdfmovie 11 released

[edit]

As this page is protected, can someone add that the 11th installment of asdfmovie has been released on august 10th 2018? [3] Dh3201 (talk) 15:24, 14 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Other than asdf1 and asdf10's inclusion in Just Dance, the series is not extensively covered on the article, so I currently don't think naming asdfmovie11 specifically is necessary. Lordtobi () 17:17, 14 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Splitting proposal

[edit]

I propose that text about asdfmovie be split into a separate page called asdfmovie (there is a redirect). I think of recreating page about asdfmovie because, well, news sources (some are affiliated with TomSka, some are not. also, some of them are not in English): [4], [5], [6], [7], [8] and others in Google news search. GrischaDJ (talk) 17:44, 25 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Citation 1

[edit]

It is no longer cited within the article text. ??? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.143.232.12 (talk) 16:22, 27 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It cites information in the infobox which is hidden by default (about the play buttons). — 🦊 01:17, 28 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Can someone add a link to his secondary channel as well? I don't know how to, so can someone else do it please? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 47.14.42.1 (talk) 21:21, 7 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The muffin song

Should the muffin song be added to the career section? --The Tips of Apmh (talk) 12:43, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

splitting asdfmovie from this article

[edit]

asdfmovie redirects to this article; i think it should have its own article. Rguyr (talk) 04:21, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I also think maybe it should have it's own article. Idk, it seems to be very much notable enough for its own article. And it's massive enough of a topic to have probably quite sizable article.Artemis Andromeda (talk) Artemis Andromeda (talk) 04:31, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It depends on whether or not asdfmovie has a sufficient amount of credible sources to make up its own article. Going by the The Asdfmovie page's history, it appears that it was protected specifically for this reason. 155.135.54.250 (talk) 03:05, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Remove BFDIA from this article?

[edit]

This article currently has a credit for BFDI, an web series that he recently had a voice role in. However, it should be noted that BFDI has been a massive target of disruption for years due to a lack of notability, as detailed here. Should we take it off for the time being? 118.149.75.119 (talk) 01:23, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think having it as a credit is comparable to an entire article, it's merely a bullet point in a larger list of accolades. Leaving it there should be fine. 155.135.54.250 (talk) 04:08, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It has been removed now. The entry should cite a reliable source that is independent (from BFDI and Tom) and verifies the material. ObserveOwl (chit-chatmy doings) 15:24, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If I the creator of show XYZ says Mr. ABC is in XYZ while at the same time Mr. ABC says he is in XYZ i think that's a reliable source via this rule. 2007GabrielT (talk) 23:38, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, but there is also the issue of due weight. It was a relatively small role on a single episode of a non-notable series that wasn't noted in independent reliable sources. Previous attempts at adding it were completely unsourced anyways. ObserveOwl (talk) 08:18, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It is also a relatively small part of the page 2007GabrielT (talk) 15:27, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hm, I suppose the filmography was getting a bit big, but now that it's sourced and no one else is opposing it for now, I guess I'll let it be. ObserveOwl (talk) 17:52, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@ObserveOwl Maybe you know this, but this article is discussed on reddit:[9] Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 13:50, 8 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@2603:7000:b8f0:80d0:280f:2c79:c8bc:457f, is there any reason in particular this revision was undone? It seemed like there had already been a common ground reached regarding the matter and simply linking to the WP:BFDI page is not really a sufficient explanation, as that page only really covers why an actual BFDI page cannot exist, not whether or not it's suitable to include on other pages. If someone else with more know-how would be willing to comment on the matter, that'd also be appreciated. 2603:8001:E600:2741:84F0:FF67:9112:BA53 (talk) 09:12, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • @MultPod: I see you've reintroduced the entry, so I'd like if you elaborated a bit more on your reasoning here. I've been having some mixed feelings about it, but personally, now I don't think the filmography should be listing every single video that he's been in - in that case, the filmography would be very big. I would narrow down to those series he's created on his channel (or major roles like producer outside of it), or roles on notable series, which have more impact on his career than a single BFDI episode. ObserveOwl (talk) 14:35, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@ObserveOwl: That's not a bad argument, but it's certainly not supported by WP:BFDI, or by the other contents of the list; TomSka is not involved in the writing of all of the listed works. In addition, while it's true that Pineapple was only in one episode, he did have quite a few lines. I'd also like to note that if being in multiple episodes is a prerequisite toward that show being mentioned in a person's article, than Kevin MacLeod, who voiced Pan Flute in BFDIA 12, 13, and 14, should also have a note of his BFDI voice work. (However, I don't think there should be; there's already a list of voice work on TomSka's article, while the same is not true of MacLeod's.) MultPod (talk) 18:10, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@MultPod I agree with you for the most part however I think the source chosen is less than viable. It is simply Tomska stating that he would like to voice a character on the show, and also dates prior to the episode's official release, meaning that in my opinion the source does not really serve as evidence he acted on the show. I would recommend replacing it with a tweet like this one where he directly acknowledges his role on the show as Pineapple. 2603:8001:E600:2741:1CD2:E657:E906:AC86 (talk) 02:08, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I would do that, but I'm not currently sure how to turn this link into a proper citation. MultPod (talk) 11:05, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    Okay... I made that change. MultPod (talk) 17:41, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It appears someone has removed the BFDI credit. Coolman1151 (talk) 18:10, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Juice that makes your head explode!

[edit]

"Juice that makes your head explode" is a short YouTube film uploaded to TomSka's YouTube channel, but I don't see it mentioned anywhere on his page here on WIkipedia. The Juice that makes your head explode! itself made an appearance in one of the asdfmovies, where someone drank a sip of it and said "This isn't milk!" before his head exploded. The reason the person confused it for milk is because (except in the two skits where there was color, and the one skit where everything was kinda realistic) everything in the asdfmovies is black and white. I think this should be added to the page here on Wikipedia, as it is something he made. Sleepyfellow03 (talk) 08:49, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:NOTEVERYTHING, this addition is not necessary 2601:98B:4480:2040:CCAF:A2C4:65BD:2543 (talk) 01:05, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Does this constitute an edit war?

[edit]

The last few edits to the article have either added or removed the BFDIA credit. I believe that the credit should be included, and I have been among those who add the credit after it is removed, but I feel that further discussion is warranted; I would like to see more arguments from those who feel that the credit should not be included. MultPod (talk) 18:11, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
