Not too shabby, is it?
[edit]Best cartoonist ever, Possibly. Good job. The things you learn about on the Teahouse. I'm willing to move this to article-space myself, but I don't know if that would mess something up, since it's been submitted and I'm not a reviewer. Valereee, do you know? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 09:51, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
Note: The title should be The Magic Portal, but there is a redirect in the way. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 09:54, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, it needs a history merge with the redirect, which has an earlier version of the article in its history. I agree it is ready for article space. Thanks! --- Possibly ☎ 09:56, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
- Ugh, yes, the redirect has a longish history. I think this is what's referred to as a simple merge, though, since there's no overlap. Everything at The Magic Portal and its talk are before 2013. I've never done it before. Hm, it looks like there's some sort of tool admins can use...ai yi yi, this seems like one of those things I could easily be a net negative on, but I'll go take a look. —valereee (talk) 10:17, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
- PrimeHunter, perhaps you'd like to offer advice. Incase you haven't heard of them, Legos are toys for children. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 10:21, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Gråbergs Gråa Sång: I'm Danish like Lego. This is like telling a Swede that IKEA makes furniture. I have history merged The Magic Portal and Talk:The Magic Portal to here. PrimeHunter (talk) 11:30, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
- My attempt at humor. And thanks, beater-of-Wales. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 11:49, 28 June 2021 (UTC)

- Hm...this looks like it may be specialist work. There's a warning to admins that incorrect attempts are very difficult to undo. I think I'll just watch. Looks like you tag the target article (not the talk) with {{History merge | originalpage= | reason= | details= }} —valereee (talk) 10:30, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
- This was quite the team effort thanks everyone! @Gråbergs Gråa Sång: I did the move following the history merge. --- Possibly ☎ 13:55, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
- Excellent! Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 14:01, 28 June 2021 (UTC)

I just came across the Magic Portal short on YouTube one day, and thought people who venture through Wikipedia should get a little more in-depth with the development and plot line, so I appreciate the help, guys. Best cartoonist ever (talk) 19:10, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
Infobox
[edit]Any reason some of the info is invisible? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 14:19, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
The film’s credits don’t have enough detail to fill in the infobox’s criteria, if you’re referring to the empty spaces. Best cartoonist ever (talk) 19:06, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
- No, I'm referring to the filled-in spaces that don't show in the article, like runtime and country. Compare The Lego Movie. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 19:57, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
- Re Gråbergs Gråa Sång I fixed that. The "music" parameter had an unclosed template, causing problems down the line, and the "year_of_release" parameter should have been "released". There was a leftover named ref that said the film was produced in the USA; I removed that. --- Possibly ☎ 20:57, 28 June 2021 (UTC)

A Trip Down Memory Lane
[edit]So I found that I was not the first person to put up a page based on the Magic Portal, because the first edit dates back to 2009. Then, I found the page was taken down for some reason, and now, twelve years later, I put it back up with help from you guys. I just wanna ask, why was the last version taken down? Best cartoonist ever (talk) 19:21, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
- WP:GNG fail, apparently: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Magic Portal. One aspect is that sources like The animation bible : a practical guide to the art of animating, from flipbooks to flash are easier to find today without actually having to stand up or something. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 19:58, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
- However, it's not unique that articles can make a comeback, if the circumstances are favorable: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Meghan Markle. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:08, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Best cartoonist ever: the issue at the last AfD seem to be that, for whatever reason, the participants did not discover the sources we did this time around. If you look in the history, you will find that someone also added a gigantic chunk of what we call fancruft, written int he voice of the film's director. That does not help first impressions. At this point there is a lot of good sourcing available online, which makes notability clear. --- Possibly ☎ 22:19, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
