Assessment

[edit]

This article just needs a songlist and some references to be upgraded to start. -- Ssilvers 23:08, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The official website is the reference. Should it be listed that way instead of as an external link? ConoscoTutto 21:54, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have a strong opinion on this. I don't think it's consistent from article to article. My own feeling is that if I have used a considerable amount of material from a website, it is a "reference." Good job so far on the article! I'll put in the infobox. -- Ssilvers 16:46, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article name

[edit]

The name of the musical is simply 'Sister Act' as opposed to 'Sister Act the Musical'. The page should be moved and thus renamed as such. 88.104.31.14 (talk) 16:25, 6 February 2009 (UTC) I agree it should instead be simply Sister Act (musical) Mark E (talk) 22:21, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the proposal was - unopposed move. Keith D (talk) 11:17, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sister Act the MusicalSister Act (musical) — The show is not billed as "the musical" and so the new page name would be correct. Can't move now as it is a redirect to this page. Can this page be redirected to the new name? Mark E (talk) 22:29, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Support. IAW WP:DAB.

[edit]

The section titled "2009 Synopsis" was copied from the official web site: [[1]]. That is a WP:COPYVIO and not permissable and I have deleted the entire section. These warnings are at the bottom of every edit page: "Content that violates any copyright will be deleted."; "Do not copy text from other websites without a GFDL-compatible license. It will be deleted." JeanColumbia (talk) 18:01, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

London production dates

[edit]

According to WP:MOS, "Articles on topics with strong ties to a particular English-speaking country should generally use the more common date format for that nation. For the U.S. this is month before day; for most others it is day before month." It also states, "Dates in article body text should all have the same format." Since this is an American musical, and the earlier productions use the US dating format, I have changed the London dates to conform to the US format. Song list

[edit]

Instead of a full Broadway song list, I suggest that there should just be a description, after the London song list, of the changes for the Broadway version; two such similar lists make the article too listy. Under the production section for B'way, there should also be a description of the major changes to the show. -- Ssilvers (talk) 21:53, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree re the song list, I may get to it this week.Flami72 (talk) 12:02, 25 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Cast list

[edit]

Per the Musical theatre article structure guidelines (at [2]):

"For the original Broadway or West End production, there may be a cast list, with notable actors bluelinked, or the casting may be described in prose. Please do not delete such lists. However, there should not be full lists of replacement casts. Notable replacement actors can be named either next to the original cast list or in prose in the description of the production. Other productions should merely name the notable actors and production team members who have Wikipedia articles and can be blue-linked, unless their names are important to an understanding of the musical and its history. A citation to the full cast lists can be given so that the information is easily accessible to anyone who needs this information."

Based on that guideline, I am resoring the cast list to the Broadway and West End productions and UK tour. I will then add in the appropriate cast names for the other productions (Hamburg, etc) in their respective prose sections.Flami72 (talk) 12:02, 25 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Other Productions

[edit]

This section has clearly gotten out of hand. This show is not that important. It won no awards. The infobox is proof that the page has become merely a dumping ground for promotional resume-style listing for every theater around the globe that has launched a production. This section has either got to go entirely or severely scrubbed or a template placed so that new listings do not clutter it in the future. I will be condensing this section on the basis that if the production was not reviewed or covered by a significant media outlet for a specific notable reason, it should not be included. Some of these productions are sourced by a simple press release and only ran a few days. Ridiculous. Maineartists (talk) 23:51, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
