European sales
[edit]I can't find any information about this units european production run. Does anybody know the amount of European Multimega units that were produced? I have one and would like to know how rare it is.
- 5000 was a popular number I've read, but I can't really believe that. It sound pretty few compared to the commercials sega did with the Multi-Mega in Germany. Check eBay for prices, if you want. --32X 00:12, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
- I even heard about 5000 pieces worldwide which sounds even more unbelievable. Ok, maybe it was a nice gimmick for Sega and meant for fame. --32X 23:43, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
names in the article
[edit]This is partly a reminder for me, partly a hint/question for other editors:
The article begins with the Multi-Mega (int. name) being a combined version of the Genesis (US name) and the Sega CD (US name). It was named CDX in the US. \o/
That needs rework. Another problem (a question for all of you): Was the Japanese name really Multi-Mega? I have read some time ago it was not, but I have neither found any information that would support nor any information that would oppose that statement. I haven't even found serious information that confirmes it was sold in Japan. Sega of Japan has quite some stuff in their hardware archive, even strange/Japanese-only stuff, but no Multi-Mega/CDX: http://www.sega.co.jp/community/segahard/ --32X 23:51, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
- O.K., the first task is done but I still don't have any information about a Japanese release. The Sega Mega-CD article mentiones the Sega Mega LD together with the Multi-Mega and CDX in the BIOS list, but the Mega LD in fact is another system. --32X 14:54, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
Page move
[edit]Based on the discussions at Talk:Sega Mega Drive#Proposed move and Talk:Sega Mega-CD#So no move..., this article should be moved to a single name. This eBay auction indicates that the non-US name is indeed Sega Multi-Mega; since the other two articles use the original names rather than the American ones it makes sense that this derivative hardware should also be at its original name. If nobody objects within a few days I'll fix the name and redirects and all that. GarrettTalk 00:07, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
Picture
[edit]I have a Multi-Mega (PAL, with box): If I take a picture, is it useful for the article, and will some image-nazi remove it for breaking *Inset obscure picture rebuttal here*? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.149.182.210 (talk • contribs) 19:24, 29 May 2007
- I can assure you, as long as the image quality meets some standards, your photo is very welcome. Have a look at commons:Category:Sega Mega Drive to get an impression of some photos of different (mostly adequate) quality. It might be clever to take the picture without the box since it will most probably only fair-use (copyrighted box-art and stuff). --32X 21:11, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Misinformation
[edit]I own a CDX and a 32X. The 32X came with 'seats' so it would sit nicely on the various Genesis units and reduce cartridge slot stress. My CDX came with a mail-in offer for a free 32X seat so the 32X could also sit nicely on the CDX. Using this CDX seat for the 32X is what blocks the CD tray from opening. This is why it is widely reported that the 32X must be removed in-order to insert or remove CDs, but this is not entirely accurate. Although, the lid does not fully open with the unseated 32X in place, it will open enough to comfortably insert or remove CDs. And this is an absolutely necessary arrangement for multi-disc games. Of course info this cannot be added to the main article because it was verified firsthand and Wikipedia only considers 3rd hand information to be reliable. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.191.180.171 (talk) 20:26, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
Can Wikipedia recommend any good message boards which deal with the Sega CDX? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.199.192.62 (talk) 22:20, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
Move discussion in progress
[edit]There is a move discussion in progress which affects this page. Please participate at Talk:List of Sega Mega Drive games - Requested move and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RM bot 23:00, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
