Avatar Color
I just saw this: "A starting avatar's head shape is always randomized. Colors are always the same until the user purchases new clothing from the catalog."
The part about the color is not true, you can change your avatar color without buying new clothes, color changing is free. Someone should probably fix this. Rocks25 (talk) 14:06, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Criticism
On Roblox, a lot of people hate how the Roblox staff is running the game, as well as lots of idiots, commonly called "noobs". Why not put this in? 66.67.22.212 (talk) 00:01, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
- I wish I could add that. I'm gonna see if forum threads are allowed. Jeremjay24 13:35, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
This is part of the reason this article is like an "advertisement"
" Roblox has no pre-defined goals, unlike some games. " See how "unlike some games." points out that ROBLOX has features that other games do not? I didn't want to edit it in case someone disagreed, but everyone really should consider removing or changing this into a neutral-stand-point type viewpoint. Early Concepts
I managed to dig up an early concept of the Roblox Minifigure, which is surprisingly cautious of not infringing on LEGO copyrights, but instead ended up very similar to the Megablocks minifigure

Advertising issues
I've highlighted in bold the bits that sound like an advertisement to me in the leading section.
... virtual playground and workshop designed for children aged 6 and over. While it can be played for free, many features are omitted without a subscription. The game is made up of building bricks of various shapes and sizes. Roblox has no pre-defined goals. Players can build anything such as houses, cities, swimming pools, and more and share them with the Roblox community. Roblox users can program the places they create with a modified version of Lua 5.1. Roblox is part of the TRUSTe privacy program and the Better Business Bureau rated 'A'.There Is A bunch of famous people like Roblox,JJ5x5,Telamon,Spidey7823 etc.
1. "designed for" and "virtual playground"? These are not technical terms.
2. "such as..." why give examples? not needed.
3. "program places" This is an incorrect use of the verb "program"...
4. "better business bureau" Well known for being biased.

Number of places
It says in the article that there are over 8 million places based on players. However, if you look at the number of pages of places in the "Recently Updated" section of the Catalog, there are (when I checked)471,194. Considering there are 20 places per page, 471,194 x 20 = 9,423,880. Therefore, should the article be changed accordingly? PaleoKaden (talk) 02:10, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

Problems?
First Problem.
1. The Roblox HQ is located in Redwood City, not Portola Valley. I think that needs to be changed, right here, first line.
Second Problem
2. Right here it says "Dependent on what the model contains, the model's icon differs." icon should be replaced with thumbnail.

- Yeah, I agree with Gordon. Are you saying that we should put something about Ogre? Endofskull (talk) 15:15, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
- If I correctly understood what the user was trying to say, is that in the Infobox, the Engine name is "ImPlicitNgine", when, the engine ROBLOX uses is and outdated version of Ogre. Monkey Fox Contributes! . 20:09, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

Change of the Logo in the Infobox?

"GUIs"
This entire section, I believe, it useless. It's one thing to include information that the game is a lua sandbox, but most people don't even have an idea of what GUIs are. The fact that ROBLOX has them is pretty much irrelevant. --ANormalUsername 17:02, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

- How about we merge it with scripting? I'd be happy to merge it, and make it flow together, just give me the word. Endofskull (talk) 01:58, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
- I think that the "GUIs" section needs to be a bit grammatically corrected and clearer of what they are. "Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) are a method of putting 2D objects on the player's screen. They can be scripted via Lua, ROBLOX's in-game scripting language. etc..." Scribbleno1 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.3.161.194 (talk) 17:55, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

To be able to edit the article in general, you will need to become an autoconfirmed user--this happens automatically after you have had an account for 4 days and made at least 10 edits. Please note, though, that in the case you do become autoconfirmed, when you edit the article, you need to be sure to only provide information that is supported by reliable sources--you aren't allowed to just bring what you know from being a player and add it to the article based on your own personal knowledge. I'm going to leave some general information for you on your talk page, and if you have any questions, you're more than welcome to ask me on my talk page. Scripting- consider adding this as a new page?
ROBLOX allows players to use Lua 5.1 code to script in any of their places. Scripting in ROBLOX is becoming increasingly popular, and players are becoming more aware of the endless possibilities of it. More information is avalible here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.223.222.68 (talk) 04:24, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
- I don't think that is necessary. The ability to write scripts is not unique to Roblox, many games have scripting built in and also use some form of Lua. This article already states that players can use scripts in their places and I think that is enough. If they want to know more they can follow the link at the bottom to the Roblox wiki. Although, it might be helpful to link the word "scripting" in "Users use this program for building and scripting" to Scripting Language. --Rocks25 23:58, 7 January 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rocks25 (talk • contribs)

The entire Upgrades, Parents, Test Sites and Compatibility sections should be removed.
Some time ago I removed a table of BC benefits from this article. Such a table is not encyclopedic and definitely not necessary to explain about the main subject. I suggest this table be removed and be replaced with a small paragraph of NEUTRAL explanation in a subheading of another main point.
The "Parents", "Test Sites" and "Compatibility" sections are awfully written. They are written in completely the wrong style for Wikipedia, and the Compatibility section uses questionably technical vocabulary ("dumbed down", "does not work with the button", "more updates will come"). The "Test Sites" section could be put in a simple sentence such as "ROBLOX has open testing of new features in its website and game in staging areas." and Parents could be similarly replaced.
I'm just an IP address, and it appears on Wikipedia that "IP address == idiot/spammer", but I have put my points as ably as possible and strongly suggest my requests are taken into consideration. In its current state, the article is questionably neutral thanks to these issues. In truth, I'm tired of creating new Wikipedia accounts, not using them for 3 months and forgetting their credentials. Thanks for reading 90.196.224.68 (talk) 14:31, 19 February 2011 (UTC)
Userbase
According to alexa.com, Roblox.com has an exceptionally high userbase often exceeding the 2000 rank, and is closing in on the Second Life user numbers. Also time on site appears to exceed second life. There should be some data on this page about number of users and popularity, as it appears to have a significant amount. New GUI Has Been Added To The Game, As Well As Other Updates
I just want to know if someone could find out when these updates happened so that I can edit the page! Ambient Occlusion?
Should the recent addition of ambient occlusion be mentioned? I think it should. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.94.204.87 (talk) 03:17, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
- Not done: Ambient Occlusion is a simple cosmetics update, and did not affect the ROBLOX community. Which would mean it is a Minor update. It isn't like changing all the in-game menus they can from C++ coding to the in-game Gui objects that we use. That is affecting the community, and would go in the category of major history.-- JJRcop (send msg) 21:50, 25 March 2011 (UTC)

Problem with objectivity of article.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roblox#Roblox_Studio
"Roblox Studio is a program similar to Microsoft Visual Studio and is used to construct places.[15] Users don't really use this program for building and scripting, they usually go in Solo mode and plagiarize game objects from other hard-working members."
This little quip is not objective and seems to be an insult directed at some Roblox users. It should be deleted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.48.99.226 (talk) 17:21, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

It was protected because it was being used to create an article for Roblox at a time when Roblox's notability had not been established. That is not a problem now, so I've unprotected the page. However this is not a go-ahead to move this page there; there still needs to be agreement from others, which we don't have. —Soap— 14:07, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

New "See alsos"
I think Minecraft and LittleBigPlanet should be listed in the "See Also" section, since they both have similarities to Roblox. Minecraft is an open-ended game which allows people to do just about anything, including create games, and LBP focuses more on level and game creation than openness-of-world, and therefore has a vast creation toolset, similar to Roblox. --Zero TalkContribs 21:34, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

@Wagner we dont need to add a roblox popularity. We know it is as popular as minecraft. In my opinion, we need to put a little more security on this article as about 19,000,000 (inactive people excluded) people could have access to this. And people will just put this as their ambassador link. So, we need to verify you have played since '09 or before.

I agree this is more of an ad than an arcticle. It acts as though there is nothing wrong with Roblox. I am a Roblox user. In reality there are a lot of glitches and swearing from chatters. They say just the first letter of the swear word to avoid being reported. That is soooo annoying. I deleted the tag and considered inserting criticism on the reception section instead. Hill Crest's WikiLaser (Boom). (talk) 03:51, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
My reasoning for the tags I just put on the article
As you may see, I just tagged Roblox with problems with neutrality, and referencing. The reason I tagged it for neutrality is this:
- The section "Reception"; it says things such as "good reception", "it also has been known that the community can be very rude"
- "Although Roblox claims to be free-to-play" seems as if it is attacking Roblox
I tagged the article for insufficient referencing because entire paragraphs are unreferenced. Here's some examples:
- The section "Reception"
- The first sentence of the article, "designed for children aged 7 and over." This has no reference whatsoever
- Part of the introduction, "Players also have the ability to customize their virtual character with hats and clothing and communicate with one another through groups, built-in instant messaging, and private messaging."
- The section "Character customization"
- All of the section "Economy", except for the last sentence
- The entire section "Upgrades"
Aside from all of this, I might put the section "Game cards" into the section "Upgrades", if there's no objection to that. Thanks for reading my thoughts. Please give your input.
Endofskull (talk) 22:54, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
Well, I am a bit inexperienced after all, and I wrote the Reception section. Can you help me reach a sense of neutrality?- Ilikepie757 (talk) 01:11, 21 March 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks, and I put the "Although Roblox claims" thing as I thought it helped explain misleadence to that everything on Roblox is free. Hill Crest's WikiLaser (Boom). (talk) 02:15, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
- What is neturality? CoolWill (talk) 19:58, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
- CoolWill, what I mean by not having neutrality is that some of the stuff is written from a negative view points, or positive. If the article were a person talking, it should sound as if they were knowledgeable, but didn't have any biases or take any sides of the article. Understand? Also, Ilikepie757, I'll talk to you on your talk page. Endofskull (talk) 22:50, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
Reception section
I saw a reception section, but I blanked it out due to the poor quality of it. The information that was on it was inside the game that would have absolutely no signification to be included in this article. Press reception is more notable. Jeremjay24 22:17, 25 March 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, but press reception mostly looks at the pros of a 20,000,000 registered accounts game. Ilikepie757 (talk) 23:11, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
