Map

[edit]

I think the problem with the map (which Eleassar has pointed out) is unavoidable. The map is accurate, but due to the small scale of the map the point covers the small projection of Slovenian territory, creating the illusion that it's on the wrong side of the border. The same issue can be seen to varying extents with maps for other settlements (e.g., Ceršak, Libeliče, Jevšček, Golo Brdo, Neblo, Vipolže, Kolomban, Vukovci, Miliči, Ocinje), but it's just a scale effect. It's exacerbated by the fact that the name appears below the point; if the name were to the right, it would draw the eye into Slovenian territory. (The same is true for Miliči with the label right of the point, drawing the eye into Croatian territory, and for Ocinje, drawing the eye into Austrian territory.) We've discussed this at sl:Pogovor:Robidišče in the Slovene Wikipedia. Yerpo mentioned that the only solution would be to make the point smaller or semi-transparent. You may see some examples here (of course, a different point may be chosen).--Eleassar my talk 18:26, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I've moved the map label from bottom to right, which I think helps draw the eye to Slovenia rather than Italy. Doremo (talk) 03:16, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with the move and have added a related alt text that is displayed when one moves the mouse cursor over the image. --Eleassar my talk 17:09, 15 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
