Why is the developer listed as "Tengen" when Namco made the game two years before its US release?--Dwedit 08:21, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Because Namco made the Family Stadium version in Japan, Tengen in the US converted the Famicom code to the American NES and added new rosters and some features. Is it standard to list the Japanese developer when they port a game to an American console? Gantry 01:43, 26 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I can distinctly recall this being cloned (minus the MLB license?) on the Gameboy. Called "Extra Bases" or something. 24.76.102.140 05:39, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've played a ton a baseball games on various systems throughout the years, but the only one that really hooked me was Baseball Stars on the NES. Ya, it didnt have a license, who cares. Its scary to think how much of my life I spent building teams. --Somedude

Wii

[edit]

So is there any information about this game making a comeback on the Wii as so many original NES games are doing? -Phoenixrod 00:35, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There will not be a release on the Nintendo Wii Virtual Console, because this game was an unlicened game for the NES. -Trypietrysoda

Box art

[edit]

According to the top of this page, "A request for box art or an application icon has been made to help better illustrate the article." Would Moby Games count? I don't know enough about copyright issues to say. -Phoenixrod (talk) 04:53, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nintendo Seal of Quality

[edit]

If I recall correctly, this game did not receive the Nintendo Seal of Quality for some reason (perhaps the strange shape of the cartridge?). Does anyone remember why? Funnyhat (talk) 00:34, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tengen would release games unlicensed sometimes, for one reason or another. When ever a game was unlicensed, legally it couldn't have the traditional NES cartridge design.--Hellmark (talk) 20:16, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Was a licensed version released later by Namco? List of Nintendo Entertainment System games seems to imply it was. 68.156.95.34 (talk) 06:07, 1 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Needs updating.

[edit]

~This needs significant updating as now R.B.I. Baseball is produced and developed by Major League Baseball Advanced Media, Polygon has published this January 22, 2018 article regarding R.B.I Baseball '18 that reveals that the franchise is being produced and developed by Major League Baseball Advanced Media: https://www.polygon.com/features/2018/1/22/16911760/rbi-baseball-18-ps4-switch-xbox-one-mlb-mlbam-history KSweeley (talk)

Ive added some material to the history section, using that article as a source. The problem is this article is both about the series and about the first game inthe original series. I think the article needs to be split. oknazevad (talk) 17:57, 6 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
