is there a reason why everything i put in gets deleted?
- Yes. The simple answer is that Wikipedia is not a game guide. Putting in a list of every single team in the game or the Xbox 360 achievements that can be earned is not encyclopaedic. The teams that Konami has bought the licenses to, etc., is fine, but indiscriminate lists are not. – PeeJay 12:32, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
I seem to have got the wrong idea about wikipedia then. i thought i was posting info on the game not walkthroughs —Preceding unsigned comment added by Litewait (talk • contribs) 09:35, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
Leagues
[edit]Strictly speaking, Serie A is not licensed. It is called "Italian League" as Konami have not secured the rights to use the Serie A name or logo. Konami have however separately and individually secured the licenses for all 20 Serie A clubs. I propose moving Serie A back to the list of unlicensed leagues with the note that all 20 clubs are licensed.Frankieg21 (talk) 16:34, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Stadiums
[edit]"Bristol Mary Stadium" is clearly not the Veltins Arena. Please look at pictures. It looks nothing like the Veltins Arena. Someone seems to have made this claim about PES 2008 and now it's being repeated even though it's clearly not true. "Bristol Mary Stadium" is a fictional stadium.
Likewise, please cite a source for claiming "Mohamed Lewis Stadium" is Brookfields National Stadium. Bearing in mind this is a very obscure stadium, it seems highly unlikely and is again repeating a bizarre claim made about PES 2008.
PES 2009 includes 4 fictional stadiums so it's a waste of time trying to work out which real stadium they might've been based on or most closely resemble because they are quite simply made up.Frankieg21 (talk) 18:35, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
The Ville Marie Stadium definetely is the Ernst-Happel-Stadion in Vienna, but I cannot change it althought I confirmed my email. :P

Sourcing Other Leagues
[edit]Can whoever listed all those clubs in "Other Leagues" please cite their source? The only published list of licensed clubs so far is in the October 2008 edition of PSM3 magazine and previously formed the list on this page (which correctly included Manchester Utd and Liverpool). If the clubs that have been added are just speculation or a wishlist, these should not be added to the published list of confirmed licenses.Frankieg21 (talk) 11:12, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- Once again, more clubs have been added which were not on the list published in PSM3. It is expected that more licensed clubs will be added before release, but unless the person who's added these can provide a source for claiming Lokomotiv Moscow, CSKA Moscow, Dynamo Kyiv, Anderlecht, Club Brugge, Sparta Prague, Red Star Belgrade, Partizan Belgrade, Panathanaikos, Aalborg, Internacional and Sao Paulo are licensed, they will have to be removed yet again. Please do not add clubs to this list unless you have and cite a reliable source.Frankieg21 (talk) 23:22, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

Champions League
[edit]Although widely rumoured, it has not yet been confirmed that PES 2009 will feature the UEFA Champions League license. If/when this is announced, it has not been confirmed that this would necessarily mean all Champions League particpants being licensed. In particular, it is unlikely PES 2009 will have Bayern Munich, Werder Bremen, Chelsea or Arsenal licensed since EA Sports has exclusive deals to have them licensed in FIFA 09. If anyone knows different, please cite a credible source (ie, not a blog/forum posting).Frankieg21 (talk) 11:12, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- Not confirmed on PES 2009. It was a rumor. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.139.101.9 (talk) 15:21, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
- It is now confirmed the UEFA Champions League is fully licensed in PES 2009. Konami has agreed an exclusive 4 year contract with UEFA. Promotional material shows Manchester Utd, Liverpool, Barcelona, Villareal, Internazionale, Marseille and Sporting Lisbon fully licensed. Yet to be confirmed whether or not all Champions League clubs are licensed in the game.Frankieg21 (talk) 10:49, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
The sources cited do not say that all UEFA Champions League clubs are licensed in PES 2009 and these clubs should not therefore be listed. In fact (as noted above) it's very unlikely that some of the clubs listed will be licensed in the game, even in the Champions League mode.Frankieg21 (talk) 12:38, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
There is either a mistake in or a mistranslation of the Hobby Consolas review of PES 2009. Either way, it is not true that all 32 Champions League clubs are licensed in PES 2009 for the reasons that have been known for some time and are noted above, and are also discussed in length on the blog entry cited as the source for this claim. Editors should not list as licensed clubs that are known to be unlicensed in the game. Pictures have since been released confirming that Arsenal and Chelsea are unlicensed.Frankieg21 (talk) 10:18, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
The 24 Champions League clubs currently listed are licensed in PES 2009. Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Werder Bremen and Atletico Madrid are definitely not licensed because EA Sports have the exclusive rights to them for FIFA 09. Konami did not originally plan on licensing Aalborg, Anorthosis Famagusta or BATE Borisov and they are unlikely to feature in the final game despite their surprise qualification for the Champions League group stage.Frankieg21 (talk) 10:43, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
The Champions League mode is featured on PS3, XBOX 360, Wii and PC versions of the game only due to capacity limits. Zacitty (talk) 12:34, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
Become a legend
[edit]Someone should mention the "become a legend" feature, which for me is one of the most exciting one, and surly for many others. Also, if anyone knows anything, is the Master League going to be revamped or is it like in the previous versions? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.88.56.97 (talk) 00:57, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
La Liga Unlicensed?
[edit]Are there any sources that can be cited to confirm that the Spanish La Liga will not be licensed this time around? Jeez it sounds more and more like this game is going to be a step backwards. No doubt in place of La Liga we'll get more great background music tracks [/sarcasm]. What a crock. --Simonski (talk) 16:22, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
- http://www.info.ea.com/news/pr/pr1145.pdf. EA Sports have secured exclusive rights to use the La Liga logo etc and to have all La Liga teams licensed. This does leave a loophole for Konami to try to get most of the individual clubs licensed. It's not yet clear which and how many they will have licensed in PES 2009.Frankieg21 (talk) 17:32, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
- Why can't both Konami and EA get the la liga official license and other team licenses, why it must be exclusive to a particular developer. It looks like 2009 version does not promise much. Goodcapcay (talk) 13:19, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
- It doesn't have to be exclusive but most likely the company pays for it to be exclusive. Lympathy Talk 15:57, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Commentators and Setanta
[edit]When I got this information of the source yesterday, I said that the liklihood was that Jon Champion would keep his commentary role and Lawro would no longer want his. Someone has put in some text saying that a portugeese company have a contract for "him" to be in the game. It does not make itself clear as to who it is referring to, and so is incorrect with the Wikipedia guidlines. Please will whoever did this explain. Thankyou. Zacitty (talk) 18:18, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
- I have recently seen a Gameplay video of PES 2009, it does feature Lawro, so i believe he is still in. - 1 Oct 2008, 22:56 GMT —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.11.3.130 (talk) 21:56, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
- Mark Lawrenson is definitely the English language co-commentator alongside Jon Champion. The Setanta deal has nothing to do with the commentators and the commentary was recorded a long time before this deal was struck.Frankieg21 (talk) 23:46, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
- Have they re-recorded it then?
- Fuck lets hope so, the commentary in the last one was so dire that most people I knew just switched it off.
- Have they re-recorded it then?
SportTV's appearance on some in-game advertising boards has nothing whatsoever to do with Jon Champion and Mark Lawrenson. I think the original post about SportTV was confusing and has confused subsequent editors. The person who first mentioned SportTV did not cite a source and I don't think it's important to list every sponsor who appears on in-game advertising boards so I'm removing the reference to them to tidy this section up and clear up any uncertainty.Frankieg21 (talk) 16:47, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
Cover
[edit]Can someone please add to the page that Andres Guardado will be on the cover of the American version along with Messi? Here's the source but it is in Spanish. http://www.wemexico.com/blog/?p=59 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gizzy80 (talk • contribs) 11:29, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Spanish licensed teams
[edit]Somebody has incorrectly added Valencia and Sevilla among others as licensed teams, when infact they are not. They may have real player names but that does not mean they are licensed as their badge, kit etc aren't in it. --Simonski (talk) 10:54, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
- Konami are releasing a free update in a couple of weeks, with four new licensed Spanish teams. News "PES adds to its rosters" - Konami --Cbailey3000
The list of teams in unlicensed leagues is garbage. It says Liverpool and Man Utd are licensed in unlicensed league implying the prem is on there. It also says this of Besiktas and CFR Cluj which implies the Romanian and Turkish leagues are there. Fix. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.22.191.252 (talk) 15:53, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Please update this page or make it available for others to edit instead. Firstly, include the 19 stadiums like this page did before as these have already been proven. Also teams like FC Copenhagen have been confirmed as licenced club teams but not shown on this page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by StretfordEnders (talk • contribs) 11:44, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
Are Rangers not a licensed team as well, because Celtic are and the rights for the old firm usually come as a pair? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.35.103.196 (talk) 12:15, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

More South American Teams
[edit]I was at my friend's house and i discovered he made an adjustment i think a download and found out you can play as LDU Quito the champion of Copa Libertadores 2008 and as you can see its not listed i suggest u guys do more research on teams you never know there might be twice as much teams. Justinian43
This game is famous for his modified versions, anyone can modify a team even inside the game legally, so in the original game it haven't LDU or another. See ya. CobraMJD (talk) 05:52, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

"The PlayStation 2 version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 was the 100th best-selling game in Japan in 2008, selling 135,128 copies, with total lifetime sales of 680,152,[32]"
The 100th game was World Soccer Winning Eleven 2008, see below. The 2009 japanese version (Word Soccer Winning Eleven 2009) in fact was released only on january of this year, 2009.

El Monumental is not Boca Juniors Stadium
[edit]El Monumental is for River Plate. Boca Junior's stadium is "La Bombonera", named in PES 2009 and PES 2010 (only PS2 edition) as "Estadio Gran Chaco" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.246.202.165 (talk) 21:49, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
