I have added the ref and clarified the article, but in future you're likely to get more attention if you follow the talk page guidelines or common sense and add new comments to the end of the talk page, perhaps by using the new section button. Nil Einne (talk) 09:39, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

PICTURE! PICTURE! PICTURE! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.175.171.124 (talk) 12:54, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If anyone cares to upload it, there is a decent shot of a wand at Sony Insider. Although it was posted by Christopher MacManus, the majority of the text was copied almost directly from this Wikipedia article, without attribution (which violates the GFDL), so the image could very well have been stolen from somewhere else, too. Dancter (talk) 15:57, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
They mention in the video that it's just a prototype, so more than likely the final design will look different. ScienceApe (talk) 05:47, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm well aware of that. Aesthetics aside, an image of the prototype is still useful. It is not always elegant trying to convey information purely in text. Even after a final design is revealed, an image of the prototype may be remain useful to help illustrate a progression in its development. Dancter (talk) 08:17, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding the prototype, here's a quotation from the source I recently added:

I think it is representative of what the product will include. In other words, it will have buttons. It will have the ability to have a trigger if you're having that style of game […] the other key is the light on the tip of the wand.

Dancter (talk) 08:27, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

so, it's a Soniimote? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.19.204.170 (talkcontribs) 18:12, 25 June 2009

Can anyone confirm whether the grey things on the sides of the TGS version are buttons? Dancter (talk) 17:58, 26 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Interview with the developers.

[edit]

Might be useful for extra info [1]

- X201 (talk) 10:52, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good article. There's not much in there that hasn't been reported before, but the points are conveyed much more clearly in interview form. It's a shame that many of the popular sites that get the big scoops are so horrible with details. Even in reporting this interview, Engadget makes it sound as if the controller has a built-in microphone, even though Hirani is clearly referring to the microphone array in the PlayStation Eye. PlayStation 3 Motion ControllerPlayStation Motion Controller — Capitalization issues aside, from the moment the controller was introduced at E3, this has been the most common name used to refer to the subject, and is most consistent with Sony's own conventions. The "3" is unnecessary for disambiguation or other purposes. Dancter (talk) 10:38, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Gem"

[edit]

I think we should add that the name of the controller used to be "Gem" (Or something like that.) John Riccitiello called it that at the UBS 37th Annual Global Media Conference.[2] Later, he pointed out that that was what it used to be called, during development (before public announcement). [3] Just a little tidbit that I thought might want to be included. (rct2guy (talk) 06:29, 24 December 2009 (UTC))[reply]

It's already in there. Dancter (talk) 07:02, 24 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
"Gem" is also the name of the SDK for the motion controller. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.47.171.211 (talk) 14:34, 25 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Was this published somewhere? If so, perhaps you could provide some details which would allow us to verify it? Dancter (talk) 20:17, 25 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The name will be Arc , according: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/the-ps3-wand-is-called-arc-reportJack007 (talk) 10:54, 20 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This is a rumour until it's confirmed by Sony. They're still towing the "We don't comment on speculation or rumour" line. Chimpanzee - User | Talk | Contribs 11:37, 20 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
There's always this little nugget which could be used as confirmation: PS3Arc 86.169.45.8 (talk) 13:48, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
What does that prove? You don't honestly think that's an official Sony website do you? :) Chimpanzee - User | Talk | Contribs 14:15, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Best Move Game Yet

[edit]

"Ape Escape PS3" was named "The Best PlayStation Move Game Yet" by the PlayStation Move development team. Should this have a mention somewhere? Source available on the Ape Escape PS3 page.Apeaboutsims (talk) 01:17, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Honestly I don't think it's relevent enough and even if it was the original quote ("Sony “Playstation Move Staff” have said that “Ape Escape PS3″ may be the best game so far for PS3 Move") reads to me that they mean it is the most suited game so far, rather than the most fun or the best implementation or whatever, so it is at the very least ambiguous. Does Playstation Move use ultrasounds to determine depth?

[edit]

We where wondering with my friends when we stumbled into this:

It begins? Sony patents that break-apart controller

I personally belive that it doesn't use since it could cause problems for example animals around us. And I fail to see the point in it since Eye tracks the ball in wand and can calculate depth from that.

Doesn't use... ultrasound? Forum posts I can find suggest they decided against using it. Also, it can calculate depth visually. I.e. The glowing ball gets bigger when it's closer. This is also why the ball is relatively large — so the change in apparent size is more obvious. —Pengo 03:40, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Release Date

[edit]

The release put up for Europe is 15th, but everywhere I look, everyone I ask, it's the 17th. Even the Playstation site has it at 17th. Change it Y/N? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.78.73.123 (talk) 17:00, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No. You can't just come along and say "I know better than everyone on the internet" and expect anyone to believe you. If you have some kind of verifiable proof then maybe, but otherwise why should we trust your word (some random guy on the internet) over everyone else. Alphathon™ (talk) 19:00, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Wait, I think I misunderstood what you wrote. Hold on. Alphathon™ (talk) 19:08, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I misunderstood what you were saying - I thought you said "I know it's the 15th, but everywhere else disagrees with me", which is obviously not what you said. Seems to check out, but I'm not sure. Alphathon™ (talk) 19:26, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I can confirm that the Move wasn't available in the UK until September 17th Dlegros (talk) 22:40, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Lag

[edit]

Are there any good third-party sources on the amount of lag? Eurogamer claim 133ms, but that was back at GDC in March. I find it quite laggy across the games I've tried and find this figure reasonable, but obviously that's subjective. Any other sources? —Pengo 05:26, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

For me it appears to be at least 100 ms, if not more.. Like most Sony stuff this device is overhyped. My gyration remote doesn't have that sort of lag and also no drift problems. Can somebody add a criticism section, or reference to this: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/playstation-move-controller-lag-analysis-blog-entry 80.249.84.110 (talk) 12:26, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Been using a Move for well over a year now for various games. I've never noticed much if any lag at all. 86.29.42.64 (talk) 10:29, 1 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Photo of the unit

[edit]

In the infobox a photo of the Move controller unit is shown. Maybe you can turn the image 90 degrees clockwise, so the controller stands up. That's an easier way to see how it looks like and where the placement of the buttons are. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dylanspronck (talkcontribs) 01:09, 13 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was thinking of doing that anyway; I'll get on to it as some point (today or tomorrow probably). Alphathon™ (talk) 19:45, 13 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wii Copycat

[edit]

Seriously, hasn't anyone realized it's just the Wii controller with different buttons and a useless balloon at the top? Seriously, Nintendo should sue Sony for stealing their ideas. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gabriel Marín (talkcontribs) 05:33, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
