I think the idea that Pinball Dreams is better than Pinball Fantasies cannot be supported if you look at general critical reception and reviews. Also, I would characterize the PC conversion as excellent without reservation, having features the Amiga version didn't such as a high-resolution mode. Having played both the Amiga and PC versions, I notice nothing missing or lacking with the PC version. There is an abominable unfaithful SNES conversion that isn't mentioned here, though. -mjw

I agree with mjw. Pinball Fantasies is superior, which seems to be the general opinion as it has been mine (and my gaming friends') since it came out. Also, i think 'Stones 'n Bones' is the best table, followed by 'Partyland'. That also came back in a lot of reviews i read and in what i know from people that played the game. Last but not least: the music (by Olof Gustafsson) to this game is just awesome. It suits the table themes incredibly well. It is one of my favourites in this respect together with the music to Turbo Outrun (C64), Dune II (PC), and Road Rash (Sega Megadrive). --Vunzmstr 21:14, 11 October 2005 (UTC)

"In my early childhood, at just the age of four, Pinball Fantasies for MS-DOS was my favourite game by far, especially the Stones 'n Bones table. The music is really good, but best of all is the opening music, which IMO is some of the best music EVER. Truly a masterpiece, even if the ball can sometimes be lost even through just very bad luck, such as the ball coming out of Offroad into the exit lane in Speed Devils, or an unlucky bounce out from the vault in Stones 'n Bones. Unfortunately, the game is now difficult to play because of the end of MS-DOS, but it might be coming out for the Xbox 360 in the Xbox Live Arcade in future, so that's okay. Pinball Fantasies is one of the best Pinball emulators there are. It provides the real experience. (Played on a 386SX computer, both with the PC speaker and Sound Blaster). I don't know who reviewed the game, but "He praised the graphics but assessed the game to be completely lacking in fun due to the limited gameplay, stating that "anybody who thinks a $60 video game should offer some imaginative surprises will be severely disappointed."[5]"... what a load of nonsense, this is PINBALL, you are supposed to chase around a metal ball by hitting it with metal flaps, and I did. When I caught the wave, I did some 80-million points in the 4-th table, gained several extra balls, and all it took was several hours in front of a slow 10-inch DSTN screen. On the first launched ball. Loads of fun. Limited gameplay? Nope, I did not reach many of the goals in the game, as I was interrupted and lost my concentration for good. Try it and you will understand why 80-million on the first ball was very exciting.

The music is in the MOD format, and when played in Winamp for example, is NOT correctly reproduced. Adrenaline.mod for example, which is the much acclaimed intro piece.

Gameplay review: What makes the gameplay so captivating? It is the "story" generation, the situational music and sound effects that guides you, coaxes you, taunts you, or cheers you on. There are special bonuses that alleviate your stress, such as the extra ball, or a temporary or quasi-random amnesty from your ball falling down. Then there is the light-screen under the table (or over?) that intelligently displays various information to keep you occupied or motivated. And there are a lot of opportunities that increase your stress, either by a random chance or by your own fault. "Fake" Multiball

Ok, if you hit that special trap the ball would be retained, and you could start again with a new one... but that is about the only similarity to "real" Multiball. In this sense you could also call it "Fake Multiball" if you loose one ball normally, then you can also start again from the beginning. Link to Cabin Fever pinball
