Regarding the flag SK should be under
[edit]Since me changing the SK Gaming flags from Past CPL CS winners from German to Swedish apparently wasn't appreciated and was undone, I invite Djith to give a good reason why a team of five swedish players, with a swedish manager and based in sweden, should be concidered a "german" team.

- SK-Gaming is a German club, founded in Germany, registered as a legal company in Germany, run by a German/Swedish board. Their Counter-Strike team and manager may be made up entirely of Swedes, the club itself is German. That's why. -- Laurens Hoek 09:20, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
I can't see why you are taking a stance refuted even by the very organization this article is about (and we can probably agree on that CPL itself is the credible source): http://www.thecpl.com/?p=1033 I do comprehend the history of SK, but I think it is safe to say that crediting germany for the CS victories is about as accurate as crediting Vietnam (or wherever Potti was originally from) for them. - The CPL is using a deprecated logic in determining the nationality of the team. By the CPL's standards, SK-Gaming would be Swedish in a Counter-Strike male context, American in a Counter-Strike female context, German in a FIFA context, etc, etc. None of that makes much sense to anyone. Using the same logic, K.S.K. Beveren would have been an Ivorian football club, since its entire lineup was Ivorian. The club is based in Belgium, which - by any current sports convention - makes it a Belgian club. Why should this standard be any different for e-Sports? -- Laurens Hoek 11:55, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
- This ISNT football, even if a team is under a German organization with only Swedish players, IT IS a Swedish team. And SK is Swedish in cs male, Us in cs female. etc.... Because like it is now, you have the POV of hiding victories of Swedish teams. Chandlertalk 23:32, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
Merge with TheCPL
[edit]I really feel if this list is to even exist on WP, it needs to be part of TheCPL and have this page purged. ZBrannigan 02:37, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
Contesting Speedy Deletion
[edit]Certainly professional gaming isn't as important as say, the Olympics, but a list of champions in a sport certainly doesn't fall under A7. For example, List of Intercounty Baseball League champions details a rookie baseball league from Canada's champions that I don't believe is any more relevant than one of the largest and oldest professional gaming championships. Merging might be appropriate, but outright deletion seems excessive. Falard 21:34, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
