Observations

I note with interest your comments at 2008-2009 Israel Gaza conlict. You state that you do not "buy" UN anti-Israel bias. The reason why many feel the UN is indeed anti-Israel, is because of the disproportionate number of United Nations resolutions concerning Israel. This is due to the Arab-Muslim block who are naturally biased aginst Israel. Secondly, you mention "if any other country in the world bombed a school filled with refugee families killing the same number civilians, it would cause an outcry." And rightly so. I have not compared reactions, but would suggest that the international resonse to the Israeli school attack would be more widespread than, let's say the Vaharai Bombing attack. La liga squad templates

I was under impression that only first team players were to be listed on squad templates which means basicly there should only be twenty-five players listed plus those who have injury exemptions like van Nistelrooy & Diarra. Rfef states that players with kit numbers between 1-25 are on the first team while those players from the reserves and youth squads have kit numbers from 26 on upwards. Bueno & Palanca plus any other reserve or youth team members who are called to the first team are to be listed in the "from the youth section". Raul17 (talk) 19:46, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

I can't say I'm a big fan of that solution, as it seems to be presenting the score at the top as some sort of aggregate result, when the two results should be treated equally. The variation I gave you is not simply the way his name is spelt in another language, it is the model on which his actual name is based; if I wanted to give people's names in other languages, I'd have sought their forms in Arabic, Mandarin and the like. Anyway, see my evidence page, how do you explain the related searches in English speaking countries like alexander macedonia (not the search "ancient macedonia" that also appears) and macedonia greece (not "greek macedonia"). People just put one second word like "alexander" to find the right "macedonia" when they search Google. And here is just a sample of American media uses of "Macedonia", alone with no qualifiers like "ancient" or "Greek": to refer to Macedonia in antiquity[3][4] to refer to the region or the Greek part of it[5][6]. Also note that media would be reporting recent news mostly. Try searching for "Macedonia" in a sample of English books in Google Books. "Aristotle was born in Macedonia":234 results. "Aristotle was born in Macedon": 4 results."Aristotle was born in ancient Macedonia":5 results. So what English speakers are you refering to? Try other searches like this and be objective. Hi. UEFA rebranded the competition before the 1992-93 season, but not the final, which was rebranded only in 1995. Look at the poster, or at the tickets, or see this video about the 1993's final in Youtube [7]: there were no symbols of the UCL in the stadium, not at all. Wait a moment, look at the sources! The logo in the the video is not original, it has been put nowadays by the tv channel (ESPN Classic Sport, if you look in HD). Listen, in this link the situation is clear [8]: 1993 and 1994 were official called "European Champion Clubs'Cup Final" yet (1994's poster is in English, if you dont't undestand the 1993 German one). In 1995 the final was first called Uefa Champions League final [9]. UEFA internet site talks about the 1992/93 season because it was when the group stage was rebranded, but it doesn't talk about the finals (which were under contract with the EBU until 1994). Suggestion

Hi, I'm posting the same message to you and Fasach Nua. After discussing possible alterations to the Defunct national teams template at ludicrous length and seeing the problems on both sides of this argument, I think I can offer a solution.

All team articles that have a recognised successor should be merged and redirected to their successor's article (eg South Vietnam national football team merged into Vietnam national football team). In the case of Russia/CIS/USSR there may be a case for having separate articles on the teams' histories for the sake of length but not 3 separate 'national team' articles. The introduction would explain the team's history, and historic names would be bolded - much like the current Congo DR national football team article. I explained the rationale here, and although there was only one reply, there wasn't any disagreement so it doesn't seem like it would be a controversial move.

This would make the 'other' section of the template meaningless as all the listed teams would simply be redirects. The template could have a footnote redirecting here and/or here for further information if you wanted.

Champions League template

Your rationale here includes the line "it does look very crammed in". That's rather the point - fb templates are supposed to be compact navigational tools, not pretty tables. The previous version was significantly more compact (not too compact IMO) even at 1/3 width. I really think we should go with that even at the reduced width. I've put a side-by-side comparison up at Template:UEFA Champions League/testcases. I don't see that the new layout is significantly more cramped than any other navbox - it is considerably more legible, as even with good eyesight I'm straining to read the text in the current version. I can see no real reason for not using the layout recommended by the navbox documentation for the sake of adding a bit more whitespace, especially when it forces the use of a smaller font. For me the one on the left is about three fourths the height, using the space better imo.

Now I have no problem in using a larger font-size, the one used currently at losing semi finalists perhaps for all on the old (which I think is what navbox standard would look without the font-size "corruption" in fb start, which perhaps should be removed to let Navboxes look a bit more how they should). But otherwise perhaps I would be more like the example I added on the testcases (a proposed change to fb start really the width can be discussed as it becomes narrower as you remove the font-size I tried to choose one that was the similar width) that as I see it make it look much less cramped just because of the smaller font I guess. chandler ··· 01:32, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

In investigating this, I've tentatively come to the conclusion that I agree with your rationale. I also agree that Fasach Nua has been disruptive, but I don't agree that continued reverts instead of using the talk page to form consensus is a good idea. Both parties has arguments that are valid, something that the current discussion at WT:FOOTY shows. Actually, I thought more of a version with arrows instead of the conventional dots with no changes to the base template, with the Istanbul clubs aligned just like the London clubs in the Premier League map. There is also the question if and where an altered Turkish map could be useful, aside from football (or probably other sports) articles. Who has told you that you have to share the titles to modern states? And stop with this FIFA thing, they just mention the titles in the confederations' pages, since no Czechoslovakian or USSR confederation exists anymore, but this in not an argument for naming Slovakia and the Czech Republic as two of the European champions. On the other hand, UEFA (which runs the tournament) lists the winners as they are with their old names and if you look at their page they don't name any of the current states successor of the former. Additionally, you are the only one in the history of the template that you insist on this version and you have reverted all the other editors and you don't take part to any discussion. You don't own any article to be against to the other's common opinion. Czechoslovakia and USSR were the champions and you have no right to add Slovakia or Russia in the template, since there is no need to do so, just like you did in Germany, where it should be a reference like that you have added. When Russia or Slovakia won a title, you could add them as current states (the same with Germany), this is what editors do in a number of other articles related to international tournaments and their winners. - Sthenel (talk) 21:59, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

I read your reason for deleting the scenarios. I disagree with your decision, and here are the reasons why:

1. Unlike what you claim, there are only 9 possible scenarios based on win, draw, and loss.
2. The table format is much easier to see in one look than 20-line long list of scenarios. The table format is much simpler than the list format.

2010 Ryder Cup

I had previously changed "EU" to "Europe" in the infobox because, as far as I'm aware, the team represents the European Tour, not the European Union. nice and great image, but "for A international matches, the IFAB has decided to set a fixed size of 105 metres long and 68 metres wide", somebody (I dont now how) should add something like "105 metres for A international matches" with the current or instead of "90-120 m" and "100-130yds". and "68 metres for A international matches" with the current or instead of "90-120 m" and "100-130yds". Liverpool F.C. wiki

Hello, I am the lead sysop on the Liverpool F.C. wiki. It is a wiki dedicated solely to Liverpool F.C.. We aim to make the ultimate database for the club we all love. Since adopting the incredibly inactive wiki about a month ago we have greatly increased the article count and modernized it from it's previous state. The problem is there are not many active members on the site and we need more for the site to properly grow. It is well organized and on it's way to be a great site we just need more editors to expand. It is based on Wikia's network of wikis. Like Wikipedia it is free to use and the editing process is exactly the same. If you know how to edit Wikipedia you will know how to edit the Liverpool F.C. wiki. Now for the question you may be asking yourself. Why edit there? Wikipedia has articles on Liverpool. This is true. At the Liverpool wiki it is all about Liverpool. We allow editors to edit anything about Liverpool no matter how trivial. We allow edits on reserve and academy players, and even things as trivial as the fitness coaches for the year 2011. We also do not lock pages to registered users. That means if you have something to say about Steven Gerrard you can click edit and not view source and actually write something. Invite to the African Destubathon

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section.
