Agency in name
[edit]Although all of the subdivisions of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas are agencies, historically North Waziristan and South Waziristan have usually not had the word "agency" attached to their names. See for example 90,600 Google hits for "North Waziristan Agency" vs. 297,000 for "North Waziristan", and similar numbers for the south. We should strive for actual usage rather than consistency. "North Waziristan Agency" usually refers just to the government, i.e. the Political Agent and his officers and offices, rather than to the history, geography and demographics of the area. --Bejnar (talk) 02:46, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
Location
[edit]One can see on the map, with difficulty, that North and South Waziristan form the southern portion of the Federally administered Tribal areas. The graphic to the right is the same for both articles on North W and South W, and the label could be improved so as to misguide less. ( Martin | talk • contribs 22:08, 13 August 2012 (UTC))
- Graphic changed to another existing graphic. ( Martin | talk • contribs 22:40, 13 August 2012 (UTC))
- Me too, at the same time :) I tweaked the captions a bit to provide color keys. —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 23:48, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

– The article very explicitly speaks of, shows maps of, tells the history, of specifically the District North Waziristan. It should be consistent now with the rest of the merged agencies in Ex-FATA (a former administrative unit of Pakistan merged into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, all the other agencies of FATA have had their names changed to District, examples: Bajaur District, Mohmand District, Khyber District, Kurram District). - This is a contested technical request (permalink). OhKayeSierra (talk) 13:27, 3 March 2021 (UTC)
- These two moves don't seem necessary. The other districts mentioned are ambiguous with other titles, but North amd South Waziristan are not ambiguous so the extra disambiguator "district" is not required. — Amakuru (talk) 22:45, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
- Still, this is necessary for consistency (see West Karachi District, Central Karachi District, East Karachi District, Upper Kohistan District, Lower Kohistan District, North 24 Parganas District, Upper Chitral District, Lower Chitral District: hypothetically, all these examples could go without, but they don't because, similarly to North and South Waziristan, the word "District" is part of their name; Upper Chitral and Lower Chitral are two different places). Also, the article explicitly is speaking of those districts, showing their borders and talking about the internal divisions of those districts. "District" isn't a disambiguator, it is literally part of the name of these two districts. -- Abbasi786786 (talk) 13:04, 3 March 2021 (UTC)
- support per nominator. Ytpks896 (talk) 06:53, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
- Support According to the articls these are Districts, So district should be mentioned like other former agencies of Ex FATA. 103:141:158:114 (talk) 07:41, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
- Relisting comment: So wp:consistent or wp:concise? Looks like the former for now. (Non-administrator comment). ~ Aseleste (t, c, l) 17:19, 15 March 2021 (UTC)
