NaDeSHoT date of birth
[edit]@Prisencolin: Thank you for your recent changes to the NaDeSHoT article. I see that you have supplied three different references to support this sentence: "Matt Haag was born in August 3, 1992 to Jeff and Christina Haag." Would you please advise which of those 3 sources specify August 3, 1992 as the subject's date of birth, or explain how you came to that conclusion? Regards, Yamaguchi先生 23:49, 16 September 2015 (UTC)
- The first link is a tweet he made on his birthday, August 3. The second gives his age as 22 in October 2014, was can use WP:COMMONSENSE to deduce that he was born in either 1992 or 1993. The last one in the only source I can readily find that lists his mother's name as "Christina Haag", as well as listing his birthday and birth year.--Prisencolin (talk) 00:08, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
- To confirm:
- The first link is a tweet which states "Really wanna say thanks again for all the overwhelming birthday tweets. You guys are too kind and made my day even better." and was posted to Twitter on August 3, 2015. Source - Twitter
- The second link is to Business Insider, which has the title "This 22-Year-Old Went From Working At McDonald's To Making $1 Million A Year Playing Video Games", published November 15, 2014. Source - Business Insider
- The third link is to a YouTube video which was posted on October 9, 2014. At roughly the 2 minute mark (1m53s) the subject makes an offhand reference to an event happening on "August 1, two days before my birthday..." Source - YouTube
- Please correct me if I have overlooked or misinterpreted any of the sources provided here. I have reservations that this borders on original research, but I thank you for your assistance as we attempt to present the best possible version of this article to our readers. - Unless the tweet said 'birthday today' I wouldnt use it by itself, many people do 'thank you' posts on twitter/facebook the day after. However in conjunction with the youtube video its pretty clear he is stating his birthday is August 3rd. "X happened on 1st August, 2 days before my birthday" does clearly indicate its the 3rd. Basic math (1+2=3) is not original reseach. As both are primary sources they can be used to source non-controversial facts about the subject, birthdates and ages *can* be controversial, but unless the subject complains, I wouldnt worry about it. - The YouTube one is good for a self-published source. I've added the quote to the reference. I'm assuming it's video blogging and not fictional/acting (portraying a character of himself), which is confirmed by his follow-up tweet. I've moved his birthday citations to the lead and removed from the biography section as it only needs to be cited once for the article. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 00:55, 30 September 2015 (UTC)
- The Chicago Tribune article lists him as 21 years old on January 26, 2014. [1] AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 01:24, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

[edit]@Mrkingpenguin Dunno if there's some policy that I don't know about, but generally most biographical articles have some background info on peoples' parents e.g. Mark_Zuckerberg#Early_life and Narendra_Modi#Early_life_and_education--Prisencolin (talk) 03:32, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
