First Sega CD RPG?

[edit]

Wasn't it the first sega cd rpg? Scaryice 05:58, 7 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

No, I think maybe Eye of the Beholder, or some other shovelware port likely came out earlier.

Screenshot

[edit]

That one game screenshot where nall is talking about choking a chicken is actually from the playstation version, not sega cd. Someone should change that.

This article could use...

[edit]
  • A basic description of the Lunar world.
  • A summary of the fall of the Magic Empire and the rise of Vane.
  • Background on the Four Heroes.
  • Names of voice actors and singers for both versions.
  • Information on the changes Working Designs made (ending, possibly sound engineering).
  • Cover art.
  • A gallery of U.S. version disk art.
  • Soundtrack info.

Sources

[edit]

I added a lot of data to this article that isn't common knowledge. Most of it comes from Japanese guidebooks and artbooks, which I cited. To clarify, the major points include:

  • Ages and full names of the major characters. (All of which come from the TSS era)
  • The fact that most people in Lunar can use magic.
  • Existance of an uncertain relation between the Magic Empire and the Vile Tribe.
  • Tempest is the son of the chief of Pao, and met Alex while trying to cure the sickness there (neither of which are true in the remake).
  • Taben is building the Grindery as a form of revenge against his detractors.

Some comments on the opening song

[edit]

"Additionally the English version of Lunar: The Silver Star has a unique opening song, similar but distinct from the Japanese version. Working Designs always re-recorded vocal theme songs for their titles with re-written lyrics, but with this one they went further and wrote a new arrangement of the entire song."'

This is not quite true. Though I can't speak for the comment about Working Designs, the Japanese OP song and the English OP song are very very similar in arrangement. What the author of this article doesn't realize is that the Japanese OP was rerecorded as a full-length song so that it could be released on CD. They just so happened to use a different arrangement. However, if you were to buy a Japanese copy of L:TSS, stick it in your CD player, and listen to the OP track, it sounds very similar to the English version. Oh, and the singer for the Japanese version (at least the full version song; I don't know about the in-game version) is Satou Mayumi (須藤まゆみ). --Yoshiaki Abe 20:48, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GA review

[edit]

Hello. This article looks great. However, there are several points that should be fulfilled.

  • Rework the development section. See Halo 3, a good article to see how the development section is written.
  • You also need to cover a section on "Marketing and Release". Such as how the article was marketed and where it was released.
  • I think a few more pictures will help a lot. The article will be better with more.

This article is already on its way to GA status! A little more work and I think it will work. Good friend100 15:27, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The original reviewer seems to have forgotten about this article, so since it's been 3 weeks, I'm going to finish it off. I don't think that you need a marketing and release section, as I've never seen one in any GA/FA unless it was a mega hit a la halo. The development section could be larger for FA, but I think the way it is now is perfectly fine for GA. And there are plenty of pictures now, so that's all three of the reviewers faults. As such, I'm passing this for GA. Good job! --PresN 16:44, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Additional development information

Hi! Just today, shmuplation finally translated 4 interviews in regards to Lunar: The Silver Star (http://shmuplations.com/lunar/). I'll also leave each issue of Beep! MegaDrive where said interivews are originally found. I hope they're put to good use here, as shmuplations did an excellent job with the interview translations:
