Past Programming
[edit]Didn't there used to be a category showing past programming? This could be really useful. It doesn't just work well if the page keeps deleting and adding shows that are new. Then we are left with articles of past TV shows that have nothing to connect with. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.116.69.11 (talk) 16:48, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
Program line-up
[edit]I think that the previous line up of the programs is way better than the current one. Madapaka (talk) 02:06, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
- If you think it's better, it's not a valid reason. All lists should have a uniformed format. I just followed the format of the other lists, like List of programs broadcast by American Broadcasting Company and List of programs broadcast by The CW to name a few. pikdig (talk) 03:21, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
Deletion of some information
[edit]I think the following should be deleted in the Upcoming Programs of ABS-CBN:
- Hana Kimi: Because this will be aired in GMA 7 and the trailer for this was already shown.
- White Tower, Lovers, Prince Hours, Fireworks, and I Am KC: Because there were no references given in these informations.
- Rubi, and Kapitan Boom: Because the references they gave were from a Blog, which can be a Fact or not.
The Pinoy Big Brother 3: American Style should be renamed as Pinoy Big Brother 3 because in the reference given, there were no words listed as American Style.
Please list some response below. Thank You. Celester MejiaTalkPage 20:52, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
2 Questions and Tasks!
[edit]Can anyone please remove red links? and Can anyone please tell me why Varga and Utoy doesn't have an article? The trailers air every now and then on TFC already. --DCFan101 (talk) 23:20, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
Guidelines for Upcoming Programs
[edit]Can we formulate guidelines for posting upcoming programs? For example, include only those shows that have at least 2 confirmed cast members and at least a working title? Also, in adding shows, can we always make sure that they are alphabetized? Also, is it necessary to separate certain News and Current Affairs shows into a subsection and label it "Infotainment"? --Iamasmartaleck (talk) 10:32, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
On You Tube as reference
[edit]You Tube videos can be used as reference only on the following conditions: (1) The video is released by ABS-CBN itself (meaning leaked videos posted by users other than authorized by ABS-CBN are not allowed.); (2) The video is a copy of trailer currently shown in ABS-CBN or related channels (meaning fan trailers are not allowed). --Bluemask (talk) 05:05, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
Temptation Island
[edit]Removing this for now as the show is just planned or rumored and there is no announcement that the network will go through with it. From the provided references:
“ | Isa si Niña sa magbibida sa TV remake ng Regal Films classic na Temptation Island, na binabalak ng ABS-CBN na gawing pang-hapon na soap. --pep.ph | ” |
“ | BALITANG ire-remake naman ng Kapamil-ya network ang sexy movie na Temptation Island na isa sa unang movies (along with Katorse) ni Dina Bonne-vie noon. --journal.com.ph | ” |
The entry will be returned only if there is already an announcement or in pre-production. --Bluemask (talk) 06:02, 7 February 2009 (UTC) One more thing, if they are still planning (tagalog: binabalak), there is a very big possibility that it might not push through. Ever heard of the Twighlight remake rumor? --Bluemask (talk) 10:21, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
Reformat
[edit]Should we reformat this article. The article is too long. For example, merging gag show and sitcom into one headline, like comedy. Nemo24 (talk) 20:37, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
You-tube violations - do not link to unofficial sites
[edit]Do not link to You-tube sites that do not have official permission to host the copyright content. It is a violation of Wikipedia's copyright rules and reinserting such content will result in blocks and bans. See for example: WP:COPYVIO and WP:ELNEVER. Active Banana (talk) 01:39, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
Suggested improvements
[edit]Per [1] ": Active Banana - Actually this is not a badly concieved list as lists go. Inclusion criteria is good (the lead could be improved a bit), the entries appear valid, and the overall organization is better than many lists (not sure that the tables in the 3rd grouping go well with the rest of the list though). What I am saying however, is that absent a specific Why this is a complete mess from you, it is difficult to know what you asking. If you want to take the time to improve this list, I would suggest making two specific improvements: 1) Alphabetize the section headings (right now they are listed in what appears to be a random order). 2) For each linked entry, expand the description of the entry using the lead text (modified as necessary) from each individual article. This will give the reader a better idea of what the list entry is about. If there are sources from the article lead, carry them over to this article. List of management consulting firms shows a good example of this. 3)Think about strengthening the lead to make inclusion criteria clearer than it already is. If you have any additional questions, let me know. Thanks--Mike Cline (talk) 16:52, 24 May 2010 (UTC)"
Multiply.com
[edit]Multiply.com is a social networking site, not a WP:RS. And even if it is the "official" ABS-CBN site, as a primary source it would not be acceptable as a source for a future project which require third party sources indicating principle photograhpy has begun. - Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. The table looks good and I'd be happy to add it, but all the shows in the upcoming programs section have references, and upcoming or speculative content needs to be sourced - if you have such sources, please post them here or include them in the table and re-activate the request as outlined above. Merger proposal

- The result of this discussion was speedy keep. (non-admin closure) Movies Time (talk) 13:54, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
I propose to merge List of programs broadcast by ABS-CBN into List of programs aired by ABS-CBN. As the ABS-CBN TV channel has since ceased operations following the network's franchise expiry and the cease and desist order issued by the Philippine National Telecommunications Commission, some of the programs in this list have since been moved to several various networks and streaming services (e.g. TV Patrol) with in the ABS-CBN group and as part of block-time lease agreements by ABS-CBN with unaffiliated broadcast stations within the Philippines. Even though ABS-CBN has filed a temporary restraining order against the NTC order, this list is currently obsolete as the programs were not being broadcast under the ABS-CBN banner. Chihciboy (talk) 12:23, 10 May 2020 (UTC)
- Strong keep. There's a possible tendency that the network might resume airing anytime, although its just only temporary off the air and not allowed to operate until either the franchise from the Congress or the temporary restraining order from the Supreme Court shall approved or passed into law, but we'll wait and see. Movies Time (talk) 12:32, 10 May 2020 (UTC)
- Merge. There's no official word from the Philippine government that ABS-CBN will ever return. As of the moment, the channel/network has officially signed off. Wikipedia doesn't predict the future and shouldn't assume that somehow this network will go back in the air. It should be merged with the proposed article. There is simply no programming from Abs cbn happening right now. TheHotwiki (talk) 13:11, 10 May 2020 (UTC)
- Strong keep It is likely that the network would resume airing. This is just a temporary suspension. Jusgtr (talk) 07:06, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
- Strong keep This page might be affected by current events. Tag the page appropriately but keep the page. It's unreasonable to assume ABS-CBN will never resume their broadcast in the future, unless the network is completely dissolved. Quidquidlatetadparebit (talk) 12:31, 13 May 2020 (UTC)
Merger proposal (July 2020)

- The result of this discussion was merge.TheHotwiki (talk) 21:16, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
I propose to merge List of programs aired by ABS-CBN into List of programs broadcast by ABS-CBN. ABS-CBN the TV network is now a defunct network and was rejected by the Philippine Congress, this July of 2020 for a renewal. There's no need for two similar articles for a network that is no longer airing current programming.TheHotwiki (talk) 23:41, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
Doubt it is gone, still going to likely return, but the shutdown was just that Duterte is against the TV network. Jusgtr (talk) 10:32, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
- This isn't a forum where you voice your predictions, though. Wikipedia uses facts, not predictions from the network's fans/viewers. The Philippine Congress already rejected the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN and now there's a new cable channel Kapamilya Channel which airs the final programming of the defunct channel - ABS-CBN. This article is already outdated.TheHotwiki (talk) 11:51, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
Well, the channel is just on an indefinite suspension, and was ceased by the congress who had voted with 70 rejections. It still does not seem permanent, but the president just wanted them to be off the air for at least his term. Jusgtr (talk) 11:59, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
- Again you are using your personal assumptions here. No one in the Philippine government has said that the network will return again after the term of the Philippine's current president. Why should we use "your prediction of the network's future" for the state of this article?TheHotwiki (talk) 12:58, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
Despite the ABS-CBN themselves being actually active, only the ones covered in the cease and desist order(s) are indefinitely defunct and rejected by the congress. The expired franchise mainly affects only the Free TV operations, the main channel 2 on both cable and free TV, as well as the radio stations. So Kapamilya Channel is the interim replacement indefinitely. Jusgtr (talk) 13:07, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
- Are you aware that this article List of programs broadcast by Kapamilya Channel already exists? The point is there's simply no need for two List of programs aired by this defunct network. While the replacement channel (Kapamilya Channel) already has a list of programs in Wikipedia. ABS-CBN the Tv network is not returning, there's ZERO official word that it would return sometime in the future. Your personal assumptions are simply redundant in this discussion.TheHotwiki (talk) 13:41, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
We know that the list of ABS-CBN Drama Series should also add a note regarding active teleseryes that are still on Kapamilya Channel, not when they last aired on Channel 2 before ECQ. Jusgtr (talk) 13:45, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
- Again, ABS-CBN and Kapamilya Channel are two different channels. Is that so hard to get? Kapamilya Channel is not even a rename of ABS-CBN. TheHotwiki (talk) 13:50, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
Right, Kapamilya Channel was set up as a cable-only replacement and not a rebrand for the CDOed Channel 2. Jusgtr (talk) 13:52, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
- Weak keep, no consensus. CruzRamiss2002 (talk) 11:18, 13 July 2020 (UTC)
- Merge. Per WP:CRYSTAL, this list shouldn't be kept anymore unless there is a definitive date that the network will return. Given the fact that the 18th Congress had rejected the network's franchise with finality. The earliest year that ABS-CBN can return is on 2022 (when the 19th Congress officially starts), that is, IF they had filed for application for a franchise during the 18th. Most of its programs have migrated to the Kapamilya Channel anyway so there is no need to keep this article for the time being. Chihciboy (talk) 11:38, 13 July 2020 (UTC)
- Comment: How about merge and redirect the current article into List of programs broadcast by Kapamilya Channel instead of the proposal article, List of programs aired by ABS-CBN for the meantime, as the current programs are migrated to Kapamilya Channel. And if the network returns to air again, this current article will reverted back once again. Any thoughts? CruzRamiss2002 (talk) 11:59, 13 July 2020 (UTC)
- Again, Kapamilya Channel is entirely a different network and not a rebrand/rename. Not all the currently airing shows such as TV Patrol is airing in Kapamilya Channel. If we just merged this to the list of Kapamilya Channel programs, then you are also suggesting to just merge ABS-CBN and Kapamilya Channel into one article based on your comments. Also "just in case" is against WP:Crystal. There's no official word, that the network will return in the foreseeable future. The Philippine Congress rejected the renewal of the network. What more confirmation do you need that this is already a defunct network. TheHotwiki (talk) 13:56, 13 July 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose We don't need to merge them anymore, as per Quidquidlatetadparebit and Movies Time, in May 2020, the network was off the air due to the lapsed franchise. The ABS-CBN Corporation did not dissolved because of the franchise non-renewal of the franchise. We should make a moratorium to stop merging those two articles into one. ---2600:6C4E:580:A:7045:6A04:88B5:3DED (talk) 17:04, 13 July 2020 (UTC)
- The difference between in May and in July is, in May- the Philippine Congress did not yet reject the renewal of ABS-CBN. But fast forward to July, the Philippine Congress already rejected the renewal of ABS-CBN the tv network. The owner of the tv network which is ABS-CBN Corporation is not dissolved but thats not the issue here. ABS-CBN the broadcast TV network is no longer in the air, there's no need for TWO list of programming when the ABS-CBN was already rejected the chance to continue their broadcast TV network. While ABS-CBN Corporation already launched a new cable channel Kapamilya Channel making this article more obselete. Kapamilya Channel also has its own list of programming in Wikipedia. So why continue to have TWO articles for programming of this TV network, when ABS-CBN the TV network is not returning anymore. All the shows listed in this article are now former programming of ABS-CBN. Its either the shows transferred to ABS-CBN News Channel, Kapamilya Channel or already canceled.
