[edit]This is missing any mention of the 'prehistoric' HAMMURABI type games with crops and villagers and famines and riots —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.193.197.88 (talk) 00:18, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
gods vs humans
[edit]A Wii Ware game, Gods vs Humans, should be added to this section. In the game, the player have mythological powers to stop humans in their way to rebeal against their gods. More info avalaible here: http://wii.ign.com/objects/074/074411.html
NOT god games
[edit]Many of these games are NOT god games:
- In Santa Paravia en Fiumaccio, you play a ruler of an Italian city-state, not a god.
- In Nobunaga's Ambition, you play a Japanese warlord, not a god.
- Little Computer People is akin to The Sims, not a god game.
- Romance of the Three Kingdoms is a Japanese strategy wargame, not a god game.
- In Alter Ego, you play a human, not a god.
- In ActRaiser, the character may be "god-like", but it's a side-scrolling platformer with some city-building sections, not a god game.
- Powermonger is a real-time strategy game where you control armies of men, not a god.
- In SimAnt, you control an ant, not a god.
- In Magic Carpet, you control a wizard, not a god.
- In the Creatures series, you guide creatures around in a space ship. You're not a god.
- In the Dungeon Keeper series, you are the manager of a dungeon, not a god.
- In the Majesty series, you run a kingdom and are perhaps a king but certainly not a god.
- In Dwarf Fortress you guide some dwarves but are not a god.
- In Viva Piñata, you're a gardener, not a god.
- In Spore, you basically control a species, not a god.
Not only are you not a god in these "god games", the gameplay is not that similar to other god games. Most of these are realtime strategy games, not god games. 184.78.155.105 (talk) 00:26, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
- Did you even read the page God Games? Here, I'll quote the part I'm referring to:
A god game is an artificial life game that casts the player in the position of controlling the game on a large scale, as an entity with divine/supernatural powers, as a great leader, or with no specified character (as in Spore), and places them in charge of a game setting containing autonomous characters to guard and influence.
- So, while some of your objections are valid (e.g., SimAnt probably shouldn't be considered a "god game"), your other objections (e.g., to Spore, Viva Piñata, Nobunaga's Ambition, etc.) aren't supported by the available information. Havensfire (talk) 14:39, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
- The page for Nobunaga's Ambition describes it as a a series of turn-based grand strategy role-playing simulation video games. This is a more accurate description than a god game. The player has no supernatural or god-like powers over the people or environment. Nobunaga's Ambition and the similar Romance of the Three Kingdoms should be removed from this list. Edits
[edit]I don't want to step on toes, so I'm going to make a quick note here for easy undoing/modification if someone from the Video Games WikiProject comes by and wants to revert. I'm basically just reverting 184.78.155.105's removals, less SimAnt. If I'm in error, please don't hesitate to fix what I've done! Havensfire (talk) 14:43, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
Missing?
[edit]Possibly worth adding:
- Overlord
- Overlord 2
There's likely more missing. --77.173.215.109 (talk) 20:11, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
Probably also worth adding - The Sandbox of God. "Originally released in 2004 but given a major rehaul for 2010"

Also maybe The Sims Medieval or the whole "The Sims" series? Quote that should justify adding "The Sims Medieval":
"The Watcher is the identity assumed by the player in The Sims Medieval. [...] Starting anew, the Watcher resolved to not simply watch his/her followers, but guide them in the proper direction. To do this, the Watcher would use exceptional men and women (Hero Sims) whom everyone was sure to follow. In game, the Watcher acts as the primary deity worshiped by all Sims." Needs an explanation in lead
[edit]There needs to be an explanation in the lead about what god games are, and what criteria this list goes by (so that people aren't adding games willy nilly).
Anyone up for it? I can't write it because I'm not familiar with this genre. - Whisperjanes (talk) 06:37, 18 March 2020 (UTC)
God game article
[edit]I've made an article for Worldbox.
The sentence explains it all.
