Infobox cover art
[edit]@Spiralthebandicoot Regarding the infobox cover art, this is my rationale for using the remake's art over the original. Using WP:VGBOX as reference here:
- "English-language art is preferred for identification". The remake's cover art should suffice in this case.
- "The identifying art should be from the game's original release.[...]Exceptions can be made when a later release was significantly more notable than an earlier release." In this case, wouldn't the remake be a more significantly notable release than the original, given that it is available internationally? Thus, an exception can be made here in favor of the remake's cover art over the original.
Hopefully we can discuss and come to an agreement on this. The boss 1904 (talk) 10:14, 6 February 2023 (UTC)
- Note that the internationally released version is a REMAKE of the game, not the original game; the infobox cover art should be from the original game, not any remake/remaster of the game. The remake is a different entity from the original game. STB (talk) 10:42, 6 February 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, but the article is currently for both versions, and the title of the remake is being used for the article. In this case, wouldn't it make more sense that the remake's cover art is better for identifying the game which the article is named after?
- While the remake is a different entity, it currently does not have its own page, and I don't think there's enough content to warrant making a separate article. And unlike the other Yakuza remakes, other than gameplay changes, there are no major differences in terms of plot and main characters (other than recasts, which are already covered). As such, I believe using the original cover would no longer be suitable in representing the article. The boss 1904 (talk) 11:17, 6 February 2023 (UTC)
- The remake can be covered in a subsection of the page, in the vein of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD; due to the lack of changes of the remake, only the box art of the remake is needed in the subsection. STB (talk) 02:18, 9 February 2023 (UTC)
- In that case, I propose we revert the name of the article to "Ryu ga Gotoku Ishin!" while a new subsection for "Like a Dragon: Ishin!" is put in the Release section, with its own infobox. The boss 1904 (talk) 02:53, 9 February 2023 (UTC)
- It is a tricky situation, but I don't think changing the name of the article to the original Japanese title even remotely fits the rules set by WP:COMMONNAME. Odds are the vast majority of people using the English Wikipedia will look for "Like a Dragon: Ishin!" and not anything else, given that's how the vast majority of English-speaking media refer to both the remake and the original game that never released outside Japan. I suggest the page is renamed back to the actual English title; if anything, it is the original Japanese release, a fringe game which had a small article for itself to begin with, that should have its own secondary infobox given the reduced relevance. - I'm not entirely against using the English name, but this is indeed a special case where I believe the rules have to be bent a little.
- At a minimum, I think this warrants asking for a third opinion or an RfC. The boss 1904 (talk) 05:56, 15 February 2023 (UTC)

Plans to make the remake its own article?
[edit]Are we gonna make another article for remake or is it just going to be a section in this article? NakhlaMan (talk) 07:35, 25 February 2023 (UTC)
- Based on earlier discussions, it seems there isn’t enough info to justify that.
- So, unless you can produce info content for the remake to justify a separate article. Alaios (talk) 07:14, 28 February 2023 (UTC)

Ryū ga Gotoku Ishin! → Like a Dragon: Ishin! – The WP:COMMONNAME in English, per WP:USEENGLISH. While technically a remake, most of the WP:RS in the article are for the remake. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 02:38, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
- Support Seems like the best way to handle this and definitely what I would expect to see when coming to this page as a fan. The lead would need some rewriting though to give the new name in the first paragraph. --Trialpears (talk) 11:12, 11 March 2023 (UTC)
- Support - This makes totally made sense, since RGG Studio decided to use their original Japanese title (which translate Like a Dragon) for future titles, including the upcoming 8th chapter of the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series. VernardoLau (talk) 13:29, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
Concerning the remake
[edit]It was announced during the State of Play on September 13, 2022 before the Twitter post. So, that info in the article is erroneous Serouj2000 (talk) 13:06, 12 October 2023 (UTC)
