Introduction
[edit]The introduction does close to nothing to actually helping a reader understand what precisely the Kingdom of God. It seems to have been noted as long ago as December 2004 by Dr Zen, however one can read the introduction and still come away with no idea what the Kingdom of Heaven is. Obviously this is an extremely hard notion to sum up in a few sentences, however an attempt must be made to try and simplify the introduction, from which the following bullet points can then support. Rock_Rose 19:13, 22 Nov, 2006 (UTC) It's a key concept in Christianity, but, like quantum mechanics, rather difficult to explain . Perhaps, as Feynman said, if you find it confusing, you don't really understand it. Paulhummerman (talk) 20:32, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
RFC: capitalization of "Kingdom"
[edit]Should we capitalize "Kingdom" in the phrase "Kingdom of God" or "Kingdom of Heaven"? Jojalozzo 01:52, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
Comment - In a discussion in WikiProject Christianity talk page about the application of capitalization guidelines in Christianity articles, there was little support for capitalizing "kingdom" in the phrase "kingdom of God" or "kingdom of Heaven". I think participants view "kingdom" to be a common noun in that usage. That many primary sources (i.e. English translations of the Bible) do not capitalize it may reinforce that determination. Jojalozzo 01:52, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
- No. Neither kingdom nor heaven should be capitalised, unless at the beginning of a sentence, the title of a work, or when directly quoting a source. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Capital letters#Religions, deities, philosophies, doctrines and their adherents. Specifically, "Philosophies, theories, doctrines, and systems of thought do not begin with a capital letter, unless the name derives from a proper noun".--Jeffro77 (talk) 02:12, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
- Comment - I don't really see why this should be capitalized. According to what i read at WikiProject Christianity, the bible itself doesn't capitalize "kingdom of god". See also : some books. Also would this entail de-capitalizing "kingdom of god" throughout Wikpedia? benzband (talk) 11:28, 13 February 2012 (UTC)
- More : look at this very interesting piece of information at Google ngrams : this diagram favors "kingdom of God" (per occurrences in Google Books' books), and this one "kingdom of heaven". benzband (talk) 12:33, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

* Comment - It looks like most bibles and sources don't capitalize it, so it shouldn't be capitalized. If someone has evidence this isn't the majority usage, I'd change my mind.Gsonnenf (talk) 20:32, 16 February 2012 (UTC)
- Comment - This problem seems to have been addressed (decapitalized) by Jojalozzo (talk · contribs) with this edit. benzband (talk) 10:59, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
- My apologies for not mentioning that here.

What *IS* the Kingdom of God?
[edit]As someone who isn't very versed in theology, this article left me a little confused. It has quite lengthy passages on the origin of the term, but the lead doesn't even say what it is, only that it is a "foundational concept". I realize there's different viewpoints on what exactly it's supposed to be, but could someone who better understands this perhaps list some of these ideas in the lead? - I've edited the lede to summarize different positions in the article. Ian.thomson (talk) 16:21, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
- Where is part Gospels? It was very helpful part. Have to look other sources now. 46.131.38.210 (talk) 01:49, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
Article problems
[edit]I am not going to work on this article, but I do suggest that as in Holy Spirit or Son of Man this should become an overview, with two other pages devoted to Judaism and Christianity. There are 4 or 5 tags on this article, and I think7 too few. It is full of errors and problems.
As an example error take the statement that "Kingdom of God appears in 1 Chronicles 29:10-12. It does not. "Yours is the kingdom" does. In fact The term "Kingdom of God" does not appear in the Old Testament, although "his Kingdom" and "your Kingdom" are used in some cases when referring to God: Dictionary for Theological Interpretation of the Bible by Kevin J. Vanhoozer, N. T. Wright, Daniel J. Treier and Craig Bartholomew (20 Jan 2006) ISBN 0801026946 page 420.
So divide and conquer the errors, one at a time within the relevant context in 2 separate articles on Judaism and Christianity. one article should be called Kingship of God (Judaism) the other Kingdom of God (Christianity) given the differences and this should be renamed Kingship and Kingdom of God as the overview as in the Holy Spirit article. - Well, a month now and no one else seems to want to do it. So I may just do it in a few days. History2007 (talk) 15:52, 3 December 2012 (UTC)
- Anyway, I have reference checked and cleaned up the Christianity related article, but do not really know enough to do the Judaism article. So I will leave that to someone else to work on. History2007 (talk) 23:42, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Holy Kingdom
[edit]The term "Holy Kingdom" is strangely absent from this article. It is at this time a redirect which points here. -Inowen (talk) 00:41, 26 February 2018 (UTC)
