Proposed merge of Kai Iwi Lakes Reserve into three existing lake articles
[edit]- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
- To merge the 3 lake articles into the reserve article, for reasons of short text and context. Klbrain (talk) 19:47, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
Split and merge into the three lake articles. Not much here about the reserve itself, once you remove the lake-specific information UtherSRG (talk) 16:03, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
- It'd be better to merge the three lake articles into this one, rather than the other way round. BTW, I've corrected the spelling of one of the lakes (and the lake article in the proposal - it's Lake Waikere in the reserve, not Lake Waikare. Grutness...wha? 17:22, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
- Actually, it seems to be known as both Waikere and Waikare. Topo map (& hence Gazetteer) has Waikere, but it's not official. I suspect that one of the spellings is a Pakehafication and that it is now reverting to original Maori spelling. Haven't found a source to confirm that (yet). Nurg (talk) 02:37, 29 June 2023 (UTC)
- Support the idea of merging the 3 lake articles to Kai Iwi Lakes Reserve (or an alternative joint name), given that all of the lake articles are short, and much of the content at Kai Iwi Lakes Reserve is relevant to all 3. So, formal reasons are short text and context. Klbrain (talk) 12:13, 22 November 2023 (UTC)
- I'm good with that. Go for it. :) - UtherSRG (talk) 12:31, 22 November 2023 (UTC)

Article title "Kai Iwi Lakes Reserve" is wrong
[edit]The article title "Kai Iwi Lakes Reserve" is wrong. The lakes are collectively called "Kai Iwi Lakes". The reserve they are in is Taharoa Domain, not "Kai Iwi Lakes Reserve". Nurg (talk) 05:04, 29 June 2023 (UTC)
