• Support 2022 image - Pinging both C.Fred and EthanRossie2000 who participated in the discussion above this RfC. To explain: Image A represents Bieber at the age of 21 and image B represents him at 28. Now, the reason this was reverted is because Beemer03 objects to the latter on the basis of "basic human decency" which is contrary to WP:NOTCENSORED which states "Wikipedia may contain content that some readers consider objectionable or offensive‍—‌even exceedingly so." Image B is neither exceedingly objectionable nor offensive. The image is simply of him performing without a shirt on -- nothing wrong with that. There are many articles with images like this. I think that a 7-year-old image doesn't represent the subject well enough and there's no good reason to not change it to image B; we regularly update articles to include newer images. • Option A – I agree a topless image looking like finger up the nose is not a reputable image. It's not representative of the person and WEIGHT of coverage of him, so does not seem suitable per MOS:LEADIMAGE and visually is not appealing as a way to start the article verging on MOS:SHOCK. I do not see anything better than option A in the commons, most of the others are when he was really young and the option A image at least looks somewhat recent, so it seems the best available choice. New infobox image?

On 29 September, EthanRossie2000 changed the infobox image to a 2022 image of Bieber performing. Beemer03 reverted the change, stating "A topless image is not a respectable choice for a biographical page" in their edit summary. The image has ping-ponged back and forth over the past few weeks, so I'm looking for broader community consensus.

• Is the old image sufficiently representative of Bieber?
• Is the new image preferable as more representative of his current appearance?
• Should we be concerned about how "respectable" the image is?
• Should we specifically not be concerned about how "respectable" the image is, per WP:NOTCENSORED?

He did choose to perform without a shirt on, so I don't see why it would be disrespectful. If it was an image of him taken on perhaps a beach, then I'd be more inclined to agree with such a statement. But it isn't. EthanRossie2000 12:09, 31 October 2022 (UTC)

Beemer03 shouldn't have removed the new image for that reason. Take a look at this comment they made on their talk page, citing "basic human decency" -- which is a personal thing and not a guideline. I reverted the image back to the original for two reasons; one, I felt that I should keep the implications in mind and two, there was no consensus reached at the time. Countless images have been taken of Bieber over the years and I think that there are better ones to use, but that is just my opinion. My understanding is that in the absence of collective consent, the pre-existing image should be in place. I am happy to discuss and for us to collectively decide an outcome. My pov is that the images in Bieber’s Wikimedia page, subcategory “Justin Bieber by year” in 2022, don’t seem to be ideal representations of Bieber. Maybe some more images can be added? I hate to be the one who brings up the elephant in the room, but I'm hearing a lot of rumors that this person has died. After some investigating, it seems none of them are reputable sources. A duckduckgo search brings only twitter and instagram accounts, the artists actual website, and this page. Can anyone find some info for or against this rumor?
