Removal image requests
[edit]This section is pinned and will not be automatically archived. |
Hi, I noticed you removed numerous image requests. I noticed this for a couple of pages on my watchlist and the requests there seem reasonable to me. Please explain your reason of removals. --Altenmann >talk 18:52, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Altenmann: Thanks for allowing me to explain myself. Per Template:Image requested, the image requested template is "
not a general-purpose "no image present" indicator ... Editors placing this template on a talk page should provide information about what images or photographs are wanted
". Apparently in 2014, a user added these requests to around 50,000 talk pages, to the talk pages of (apparently) every single Iranian village article that lacked an image (see this category as an example). So, while some of these requests can be viewed as valid (we don't always explain our reasons for adding the imagereq template to talk pages), your average user at least doesn't add them to thousands upon thousands of talk pages en masse using the same edit summary, disregarding the usage guidelines in the process. The massive number of image requests dilutes the template's importance (it isn't intended to be added en masse), and also goes against the usage guideline. Also according to those guidelines, Template:Improve images should be added instead as a ""no image present" indicator
". Nythar (💬-🍀) 22:53, 4 October 2024 (UTC)

Question from Software4music (06:04, 12 November 2024)
[edit]Our company produces music software for education and families. I tried to add it into the list of music software and it seems to want to link to a page about our software. Should we create a product page first so we can link to it? --Software4music (talk) 06:04, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Software4music: Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. I'm not actually sure if that's needed; the page List of music software doesn't explicitly state that having an article is necessary, and there seem to be several entries that lack articles. It would definitely help if it did have an article though. Before you decide to create such an article, please review Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, and if you're a paid employee of that company make sure to disclose that fact on your user page. Question from Clementhyme (15:43, 16 November 2024)
[edit]Hi Nythar! I was a prolific copyeditor back in the day but I haven't done it in years and I just got back yesterday so I'm a little rusty with the technical parts. Is there a tool I can use to reorder sections within an article? --Clementhyme (talk) 15:43, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hello @Clementhyme and welcome back. I believe by "reorder" you're referring to moving sections within an article? I'm not aware of any tools that would make reordering sections easier. For me, I simply cut and paste a section from one location to another. If you're interested in finding such a tool, feel free to make a post at the help desk. Cheers, Nythar (💬-🍀) 21:55, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- Alright, thanks! I was just going to do that at first but I wanted to check Clementhyme (talk) 23:01, 16 November 2024 (UTC)

Question from ViviZilla on User:ViviZilla (07:36, 19 November 2024)
[edit]i’m an artist and i wanna make my artist profile here but how? --ViviZilla (talk) 07:36, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hello and welcome to Wikipedia @ViviZilla. It depends on what you mean by "profile". My recommendation is to not create a full profile, but to instead draft an article because, while some limited information about you is acceptable to include on your user page for example, a page with extensive details that isn't meant to be turned into an article usually ends up getting deleted. To create an article, please visit the Article Wizard, a tool that will guide you through the article creation process. Please make sure that the subject you're writing about is covered by reliable sources before creating a draft. Cheers, Nythar (💬-🍀) 07:59, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
Hello how to edit more creative --Samppy (talk) 08:10, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hello and welcome to Wikipedia @Samppy. I suppose it is first important to learn how to edit. Visit Wikipedia:How to edit to learn how to make changes to articles. Additionally, I would recommend that you visit the page on reliable sources, where you can learn about identifying reliable sources which can be used to support content added to Wikipedia articles. Remember to always wrap the URL of a source between

tags. Let me know if you have other questions. Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 03:03, 22 November 2024 (UTC)- thank very much i dont wanna. Lie i was lost❤️😕 Samppy (talk) 03:10, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
Militaryfactchecker/PAWPERSO sockpuppet
[edit]165.120.252.95 is possibly another sock of the above user. Spacecowboy420 (talk) 14:52, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Spacecowboy420: Definitely some similarities there just comparing two random edits: this one and this one. I'll do some digging and compare them with the other socks. Looks like there might be a few other IP socks on that page as well. Thanks, Nythar (💬-🍀) 00:06, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
