April 2007
[edit]This website is unique in the essense that it only focuses on quality games, and casual gameplay. It's review articles are also longer than avarage, providing good review content. MANAX 19:15, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
The significance of the Jay is Games site is that it could very well be the first site dedicated to reviewing flash and casual Web games Harukio 19:21, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
It's also major in the sense that when a game is reviewed by the site, it usually receives or had popularity indicating possible success. Atomic1fire 06:29, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
Someone should put the icon, the JIG Man on the article. 75.162.240.90 17:34, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
If anyone would like to get the JiG man, it's on our facebook group, just do a search. Or of course ask someone on the irc chat. Cesque [can't be bothered to sign in] —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.36.138.103 (talk) 19:36, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
Notability
[edit]I know that this website is the premium site for reviews of casual games, so I've removed the {{notability|websites}} tag. However, I haven't (yet) found a RS reporting this fact. Does anyone have one?
More generally, non-commercial sites like this don't get a lot of MSM attention, so finding Reliable Sources for this article is going to be hard. Now, back to the flailing around in the #$*^$@(&$ banner game. CWC 13:49, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
Here are a couple of sources:
Jayisgames appeared in WIRED Magazine in the April, 2007 issue. "The signal-to-noise ratio on most gaming portals makes for a frustrating lunch break. This group blog finds the cream of the crop for casual players." Online reference: http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/15.04/play.html
"Jayisgames.com: the Internet's undisputed leader in casual gaming information." Slate Magazine (December, 2007) http://www.slate.com/id/2180342/nav/tap3/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.66.107.158 (talk) 05:17, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
John Bardinelli, Patrick Dugan, and Jay Bibby (all contributors to Jayisgames) were quoted in EDGE Magazine (July, 2007) for a large feature on Flash games. - Just wanted to say you're a star for finding these, one day I'll get around to working on this article (hopefully). Someoneanother 02:27, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- Here is a summary of articles I was able to find about Jay Is Games:
- https://web.archive.org/web/20071015133001/http://www.vh1gamebreak.com/2007/10/jay-is-games-co.html – short blurb about changes in contest (2007)
- http://www.gamesetwatch.com/2006/05/vh1_game_break_blasts_off_into_1.php – on Jay joining VH1
- http://www.wired.com/2007/03/frog_and_vine/ – passing mention on same subject
- http://www.wired.com/2007/03/sprout/ – related blurb on same subject
- http://www.gamesetwatch.com/2007/10/jay_is_games_bounces_ball_phys.php – related blurb also on 2007 contest
- http://www.gamezebo.com/2007/10/23/jayisgamescom-casual-gamplay-design-competition-4-winners-announced/ – related blurb also on 2007 contest
- http://archive.wired.com/wired/archive/15.04/play.html – passing mention
- http://www.slate.com/articles/technology/gaming/2007/12/play_free_or_die.html – shoutout (passing mention)
- http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2010/01/game-competition-puts-indies-interactive-fiction-in-focus/ – full article on competition
- http://indiegames.com/2012/07/jay_is_games_announces_escape-.html – short blurb on 2010 contest
- http://www.ign.com/articles/2009/11/16/jay-is-games-announces-casual-gameplay-design-competition-7 – repackaged press release on 2009 contest
- So almost all of the coverage is on the competitions. Nine of the eleven are single paragraph blurbs, one is PR junk, and one is substantial. Most of me says there's not enough to write a complete article, as the blurbs are worth a sentence apiece where they don't overlap, but the other part says that his competitions are notable. – czar 02:00, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
