Merge proposal: James Beard Award
It looks to me like the information on James Beard Award belongs on this page, so I figure it'd be appropriate to propose a merge from that article and into this one. ∫eb²+1(talk) 21:41, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
- I say be bold and do it. Angryapathy (talk) 14:56, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
- I migrated 2007-2009 over to the other page, but there's nothing pre-2007 on that page, so I'm not sure what the best course of action is. Raventhon (talk) 20:24, 18 April 2011 (UTC)
- I did the merge. For pre-2007 and other details, I marked some sections as needing expansion. 72.244.206.55 (talk) 18:38, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

Book award winners
Should every book award winning title really be linked? Most of them do not have articles at this point, so it just creates a sea of red. It seems unlikely to me that the majority of the books will ever actually get an article about them (unlike the authors, who we can already see are more likely to get articles). I followed the page convention for the 2013 winners, but linking them opportunistically would be easier to read. Joecipsurprise (talk) 16:36, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
I just want to point out that the "best chef award midwest" 1993, Chef Jimmy Schmidt, who also won on other ocassions in other catagories, has no page. The guy is an original pioneer in the American culinary scene, in the sam e class as wolf with Madeline, helped found everything, share our strenth, chefs colaborative, he was the first guy wolf called for the very first LA food and wine held in his parking lot. I mean really? Click on his name here and you end up at some page for nobody soccer player. Is anyone paying attention? Director of sports nutrition for chevy racing, handles the catering for the le mans, ran the London Chop House in detroit, Chef De cuisine at Che Madaline in boston? Engenering degree michigan state? harvard business school? studied wine at the watever thing in france, This is sad. I mean the guy has a vote in who wins the beard award. come on........should I continue? I can keep going, theres a lot more to be said.......but do i need to? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.132.245.53 (talk) 21:03, 20 April 2016 (UTC)

Time to split?
This page is getting long. Shall we split by year? ---Another Believer (Talk) 03:34, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
- I'm going to throw out some alternate proposals: splitting by award type (i.e. "Book Awards"), or by decade. I put these out there as alternates because (respectively) someone looking for book awards might want to look through them all, and each year individually is really rather tiny (<10kb by my count) but a full decade would be a of a reasonable size. The former would give us 5-6 new pages, while the latter would give us three new pages (90s, aughts, and 10s), as opposed to 30 new substubs. Primefac (talk) 14:33, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
- Separating by Decade is a good idea. Sam raggio (talk) 08:27, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
- I like the decade idea as well. 9H48F (talk) 15:59, 3 May 2021 (UTC)

@Primefac, Sam raggio, and 9H48F: Done OK, I've forked out the following pages:
- James Beard Foundation Award: 1990s
- James Beard Foundation Award: 2000s
- James Beard Foundation Award: 2010s
- James Beard Foundation Award: 2020s
Further improvements welcome. Also, feel free to move these pages if there are more appropriate titles, but please be sure to update the attribution templates accordingly. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:17, 10 September 2021 (UTC)
