Is this article necessary?
[edit]It seems like the 2023 Israel–Hamas war hostage crisis article covers it already. David O. Johnson (talk) 13:06, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
- That article doesn't discuss the prisoners released in exchange for the hostages. CarmenEsparzaAmoux (talk) 13:37, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
- It appears to be extensive enough to merit mention. Perhaps later on there will be another hostage exchange and this article will again be even more widely covered. Homerethegreat (talk) 11:34, 4 December 2023 (UTC)

2023 exchange of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners → 2023 exchange of Israeli hostages for Palestinian captives – The term "prisoner" doesn't include those administratively detained, a clear and unequivocal source is the New York Times article titled "Freed Palestinians Were Mostly Young and Not Convicted of Crimes": "Israel has released a total of 240 Palestinian prisoners and detainees during a weeklong pause in hostilities." Captives is broader; captives = prisoners + detainees Makeandtoss (talk) 22:06, 14 December 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. BegbertBiggs (talk) 22:59, 22 December 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 07:34, 30 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Makeandtoss: what about 2023 Israeli-Palestinian prisoner exchange? This title is WP:CONCISE and WP:CONSISTENT with List of Arab–Israeli prisoner exchanges and Prisoner exchange.VR talk 04:19, 15 December 2023 (UTC)
- the word prisoner doesn’t reflect situation of either side; captives remain more broad and encompassing. Makeandtoss (talk) 07:53, 15 December 2023 (UTC)
- I would support either 2023 Israeli–Palestinian prisoner exchange or 2023 Israeli–Palestinian captive exchange per WP:CONCISE and NPOV. The current title is very unwieldy and also inaccurate/imprecise. Prisoner exchange is appropriate under a broad definition of "prisoner", namely, any person held against their will. Captive may be more neutral. But either would be better than the current title. WillowCity(talk) 04:30, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
Can't edit, but NY Times article clearly, repeatedly, says "teenagers" not "children".
[edit]The primary quote says "There were 107 teenagers under 18, including three girls. Another 66 teenagers were 18 years old. The oldest person released was a 64-year-old woman." The Wikipedia article says there were "107 children." This appears to be deliberate editorializing, when the original "107 teenagers under 18" would have sufficed. Caption of Ahed Tamimi misleading?
[edit]The caption of the picture of Ahed Tamimi reads "22-year old Palestinian woman Ahed Tamimi was released by Israel. She was first arrested when she was 16." The way this is written makes it sound as if she has been detained since she was 16 years old, not that her first incident of detention was at 16 which is what her own article claims. Perhaps this can be rewritten to say ""22-year old Palestinian woman Ahed Tamimi was released by Israel. She had been held since November 2023." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:830:4720:A0D4:22C:A38B:CD4 (talk) 16:02, 15 February 2024 (UTC)
- What does the inclusion of her picture contribute to the article? Spencer707201 (talk) 23:36, 4 April 2024 (UTC)

There is a grammar mistake in the background, a sentence starts with “from By November 2023”. Dreamcrab0 (talk) 13:29, 30 April 2024 (UTC)

The Name is incorrect
[edit]The Israelis released were citizen hostages where the Palestinians were prisoners terrorists, name should be 2023 Israeli–Palestinian hostages- prisoner exchange Hila Livne (talk) 17:43, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
