Zionism as settler colonialism

[edit]

Your addition is poorly sourced and original research for the reasons discussed on the talk page. When you are reverted you should be seeking consensus for your additions, not simply re-reverting. Please self-revert your policy violating addition and engage on the talk page. nableezy - 16:21, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that one must present both sides of the argument. To simply delete an entire paragraph without attempting to improve seems to me a rather rash decision. I believe Wikipedia ought to be neutral. If you wish to revert the addition, please refer to the talk page or talk to me and seek and perhaps attempt to explain the problems with the paragraph.
However, I'll look over what was written and add further citations if necessary.
For further questions regarding Middle Eastern history please feel free to respond. Homerethegreat (talk) 16:27, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I deleted material that violated our OR policy. Please review WP:ONUS, you are required to seek consensus for challenged edits, not simply restore them. nableezy - 16:30, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Can you send me a link to OR policy? Homerethegreat (talk) 17:52, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
See WP:OR. Sincerely, Novo Tape (She/Her)My Talk Page 17:53, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello there
I did not include original research. It's not original research to say that Jews lived in the Levant during ancient times. It's an historical fact. I also included about 9 different sources. Homerethegreat (talk) 17:58, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Please see WP:SYNTH, sources need to be related to the topic we are using them for. You are using sources to try to make a point they are not making, and that is original research under our policy. nableezy - 20:55, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

False edit summaries

[edit]

Edit summaries are meant to tell editors what you did in an edit, not to cover it up. This is a dishonest edit summary, you did not simply Added on challenge of integration of refugees, immigrants, holocaust survivors..., you removed material that has consensus for inclusion and you did it in an edit you said only added material. Kindly do not misrepresent your edits with your summaries again. Thank you. nableezy - 12:30, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there,
I added the consensus regarding international criticism on human rights. And there was no mention of Israel's greatest challenge in its early years which was the intergretion of holocaust survivors, immigrants and refugees. If you deleted it, can you at least return this particular section? It's important. Homerethegreat (talk) 12:39, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You removed all mention of the expulsion of Palestinians, and no you did not add regarding the international criticism of human rights, you removed. nableezy - 14:36, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I do recall adding it.
Can you add the piece on Jewish refugees and holocaust survivors? Homerethegreat (talk) 17:35, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello there,
I'll soon add a modified version that includes the point on expulsion and international criticism. Homerethegreat (talk) 07:55, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Restoring edits by a banner user

[edit]

You restored the edit[1] made by a banned user[2], inserting language that clearly violates WP:NPOV ("oppressive"). Were you asked by someone (perhaps off wiki) to restore that edit? VR talk 15:39, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there,
I wanted to Undo the content deletion by Vice Regent, yet since the article had been altered I had to do it manually (That's what Wikipedia wrote (that the article has been altered in such a way that a manual restoration is required) and therefore restored it manually to what was written previously. It's not the first time I've edited this page and its in my Watchlist. I don't know which user originally wrote the sentence. The text was well sourced and reflects the Gaza Strip's nature of governance.
Thank you for your time Homerethegreat (talk) 18:19, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, I don't think that user should have been banned. I looked at his Talk page vs Tombah's, and they have completely different personalities. I appreciated HaNagid's contributions on Gaza because seemed to be able to diplomatically put in others perspectives and make things more coherent. I think on a more obscure article, less contentious article. I saw an editor revert back to HaNagid's version because his version was an improvement. Sad to see him go, but probably better for his life outside Wikipedia. Hopefully more editors will come and make these articles more coherent. I am too scared to make bold edits on contentious topics, so I have now just become a gnoming editor. Wh15tL3D09N (talk) 02:30, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Notice

The article Histadrut Art Studio has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

3/4 sources don't mention this art studio by name and the other is in a language I can't read. Certainly not the kind of coverage we're looking for.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Stuartyeates (talk) 04:04, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there, I will add additional sources. Very prominent Israeli painters studied in this studio which was the major art school for modern art in Mandatory Palestine.
Please wait with the deletion and allow me to source it better. Homerethegreat (talk) 07:27, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Joseph Constant, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Israeli. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

To remind you regarding the above. I would recommend rereading some of the points made in these threads removed from here a couple of weeks ago. [3] Onceinawhile (talk) 18:18, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

As you probably see, I recently reversed your edit on the LGBT rights in the State of Palestine page. When I did a recent update to the page, I didn't include the three Haaretz articles here, here here primarily because they were behind a paywall and I couldn't read them. I think may be worthwhile to mention those articles on the "Civil rights and government action" section, provided that they may not, necessarily, be a universal experience for all queer Palestinians. The same goes for I24News story, which you added twice.

As for the New York Times article, it is already cited in the "Civil rights and government action" section. I did find the Philadelphia Gay News article when doing an update to the page, but didn't include it, as it seemed like more of an opinion piece than anything of fact, so I wasn't sure if that was helpful. Historyday01 (talk) 19:04, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there,
I see, the violence against the LGBTQ+ community in the Gaza Strip is documented by other sources. If I send them to you, could you self revert? Thank you for bringing this up to me. Any particular sources you'd like? Sources below regarding violence and persecution.
In Gaza Strip [4][5] [6][7]
In West Bank: [8][9][10]
In the PA: [11]
Thank you for bringing it up. If you find these satisfactory, perhaps you could self-revert, or reinsert in your own words? Thank you for your time. Homerethegreat (talk) 21:00, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, going through these sources, the execution of that gay Palestinian (the AP article, #4 in your comment) is already covered in the "Civil rights and government action" section, while the execution of the Hamas commander accused of having gay sex (the Newsweek article, #5 in your comment) is covered in the same section. I hadn't seen the Irish Times article before (it seems it might be a reprint from the New York Times?), but the Advocate one isn't necessarily helpful as it just summarizes the New York Times article, which is already cited in the "Civil rights and government action" section. The BBC article is already cited in the "Civil rights and government action" section. The Times of Israel articles here and here, which you mention aren't noted in the article as of yet, but surely they can be added. I remember coming across the BESA Center article before, but their temporary ban by the Palestinian Authority is already mentioned in the "Civil rights and government action" article. The Times of Israel articles have been added to the main page, with this edit. I'm not going to self-revert, in part because adding any of the other articles would not be helpful, as the events described in those articles is either already mentioned in the "LGBT rights in the State of Palestine" article, or those sources duplicate existing sources. Historyday01 (talk) 16:17, 4 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I see, so what would you recommend we do? Should we expand on the topic in the body? Or perhaps refer to the excecutions in the Lead?
Thank you for the time :) Homerethegreat (talk) 16:28, 4 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Malvina Kaplan

[edit]

Hello Homerethegreat,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Malvina Kaplan for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source, probably infringing copyright.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Steven Tananbaum

[edit]

Hi Homerethegreat, I am working to improve the page of Steven Tananbaum, art collector and museum supporter. As you are a member of Wikiproject Museums with particular interest in art, I was wondering if you can review my edit request on the article talk page. I'd appreciate your assistance with the edits. Thanks! Alexandra at L Strategies (talk) 14:29, 7 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there, I see he has an art collection, but I'm not exactly certain I understand exactly what you'd like me to review. I saw that another editor replied and I think his assessment is fair. Was there something I missed? Does he have a museum? Homerethegreat (talk) 14:51, 7 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, thanks for your reply. Another editor did respond, and I replied with some clarifications addressing his feedback. He hasn't reengaged, so I was hoping that you may be able to review my response and implement the edits as you see fit. Of course, I'd be happy to discuss any of the points. With regard to your question, while Steven Tananbaum does not have a museum, he is involved in philanthropic activities supporting many museums and I plan to work on including some of those on his page in the near future. Thank you very much, Alexandra at L Strategies (talk) 18:56, 8 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. You reverted my recent edits to Jewish Voice for Peace claiming that I removed content and gave a misleading edit summary. Please review the revision history carefully. Articles within the Israeli-Arab conflict topic area are subject to stricter restrictions on reverts, called WP:1RR. In the past couple of hours you have made two edits that could be seen as reverts:

  1. 10:25, 17 November 2023
  2. 15:00, 17 November 2023

While this isn't a clear cut case and I agree with your second edit, my understanding is that both of these edits constitute reverts particularly since they are in regards to the same content. I would strongly encourage you to be very careful in the future, and hold off making your edit even if you are merely unsure whether it is or isn't a revert if you have already made one that day. BilledMammal (talk) 15:17, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there,
Firstly, thank you for the message and your polite tone :) . I don't think it can be considered a revert since a) didn't undo, second, the quote was in a different section (in the first paragraph of the lead, where it seemed to violate WP:DUE) and in the second edit I subsequently moved the quote (Which I did not do in the first edit). Thus I did not view it as violating 1RR since it was in essence different issues. Homerethegreat (talk) 18:09, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Edit warring and tag teaming

[edit]

You have now, across a range of articles, tag-team edit warred with users to push through contested changes. As a method of editing that is disruptive. And I intend to report it if I see it continue. You cannot just force through changes that have been contested. So I invite you to moderate your editing style to one that is not so blatantly tendentious. Or we can deal with this administratively instead. nableezy - 15:40, 23 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Nableezy, tag-team is a serious allegation.
False accusations of tag teaming[edit source]
It is often difficult to tell the difference between tag teaming and consensus-based editing. Consequently, some editors that are failing to gain consensus for their preferred changes will inappropriately accuse every editor that opposes them of being part of a "tag team".
What should you do if accused of being a member of a tag team? The accusation may be a form of baiting that attempts to provoke you into reacting in an uncivil or otherwise undesirable way. Therefore, it is important that you:
I will attempt to respond via these.
In recent votes that I have participated in, it appears that we have opposed each other. I understand this topic may induce emotions, that is quite natural and its understandable. However I propose we keep the discussion in direct connection to the content at hand which we should discuss.
I have done only 1 revert on the page Comparisons between Israel and Nazi Germany and 1-self revert, that is not edit warring. I don't recall edit warring. My revert was of your edit regarding a statement arguing that Albert Einstein equated Israel with Nazi Germany, and I have explained why I reverted in the talk page. Please note your accusation may be hurtful, I would like to hope we’re all searching to build a better Wikipedia. Homerethegreat (talk) 17:24, 23 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Restoring contested changes is edit warring. But that’s fine I’m cool with documenting a pattern across articles at either AE or RFAR. nableezy - 19:50, 23 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The Forward

[edit]

Hi Homerthegreat! I noticed you made this edit to the article on The Forward, with which I concur. I wanted to flag in case you missed it that your edit was only a partial revert of several recent changes made by an IP editor, some others of which may also warrant scrutiny. It may also be worth considering requesting page protection, given that the Forward does extensive reporting on the Arab-Israeli conflict, a contentious topic.

I have a financial COI with the Forward because I work there (although I'm choosing to write here in my personal capacity, not because anyone at work requested it), so I do not edit the article directly, but I appreciate the scrutiny you and others apply to maintain and improve its quality. Best, Testuser47 (talk) 18:39, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Homerethegreat,

There are currently motions at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Motions § Motions: PIA Canvassing regarding an ongoing effort by one or more banned editors to canvass discussions within the Israel-Palestine topic area and asking for proxy edits to promote a pro-Israel point of view.

One of the motions proposes indefinitely banning you from the English Wikipedia for participation in the effort. Statements and evidence submissions are welcome at the above link, or by email to arbcom-en@wikimedia.org if information cannot be posted publicly.

Arbitration motion regarding PIA Canvassing

[edit]

The Arbitration Committee has resolved by motion that:

Since at least October 2023, there has been an ongoing effort by one or more banned editors to canvass discussions within the Israel-Palestine topic area and asking for proxy edits to promote a pro-Israel point of view. Based on the evidence received by the Committee, the following discussions have been targeted:

The Arbitration Committee would like to thank the editors who reported canvassing. If editors have any additional canvassing evidence, please bring it to the Committee's attention. The Arbitration Committee asks the Wikimedia Foundation for assistance creating technical measures to prevent the ongoing abuse.

Based on information from the checkuser tool and on information received, the Committee determines that Dovidroth (talk · contribs) most likely participated in discussions due to canvassing and made proxy edits for a banned editor. As a result, they are indefinitely banned from Wikipedia. This ban may be appealed immediately after the enactment of this remedy, and every twelve months thereafter.

As a result, they are indefinitely topic banned from making edits related to the Arab-Israeli conflict, broadly construed. This ban may be appealed immediately after the enactment of this remedy, and every twelve months thereafter.

Notice

The article Jonathan Hai has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indications of significance. Fails WP:SIGCOV. No references in the "he" wiki article either.

In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. scope_creepTalk 14:38, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
