Query

[edit]

Hello, Onceinawhile,

I have a question for you. I was looking into why Andrevan had been blocked and saw comments you posted to User talk:Andrevan that implied that they had responded to a message that you posted. This happened recently even though the editor has been blocked since January so it leaves me a bit confused. Are you communicating via email or has he created a sockpuppet you are interacting with? Thanks for any clarification you can offer. Liz Read! Talk! 01:27, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Liz: Andrevan emailed me in July via wiki - they didn't have my email address so the email came from metawiki. I responded on wiki, and then they emailed back, and then we continued. I didn't ask about the block - in fact I didn't realize until your message now that there had been a block at all. Looking back in the talk page, this might offer some clues. It is a shame as I found Andrevan an impressive editor, even if we disagree on many things. Onceinawhile (talk) 01:56, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Masada myth

[edit]

On 20 September 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Masada myth, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that although Israel honored 27 ancient Masada skeletons with a state funeral in 1969, the story of "freedom fighters' patriotic last stand" is now known to be a myth? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Masada myth. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Masada myth), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

DYK for Muhammad Khaznadar

[edit]

On 4 October 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Muhammad Khaznadar, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Muhammad Khaznadar's museum was said to have "surpassed every other museum in the world" in Phoenician and Carthaginian antiquities? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Muhammad Khaznadar. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Muhammad Khaznadar), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Dude, what were you thinking?

[edit]

With this edit. Sheesh.

I did redact the link to my editing stats part for plain self defense.

Look. I don't like what the Israelis are doing either. But we're not supposed to take what we like or don't like into the Wikipedia. So calm down willya?

I mean besides being off-topic and deliberately inflammatory, that post (the link to my editing stats part) was plain mean. Don't be mean. Also troubling -- are you going to throw that around? Dox me? Jeez, get down from the Reichstag there.

(BTW although I don't have to defend myself, I founded Wikipedia:WikiProject Pedophilia Article Watch. Go there, read the front page -- I insist -- and you will see why I have heavily edited those articles. So besides acting like a ____ you're dead wrong.)

And I mean if you're so wrought up that you're doing stuff like this, maybe you're too wrought up to be seeing the content issues clearly? Something to consider.

In addition, you could get in trouble for this -- big trouble. Good thing for you that I'm not a run-to-mommy type.

And finally, stuff like that is bad politics, man. People are not going to read that stuff and be like "Now here's an editor that makes cogent points." More like "When a person acts like this on the talk page, how can I trust him on content?"

Sheesh we are both long-term editors. You must not be in the habit of doing stuff like this or you wouldn't have lasted. I don't understand what made you go off the rails this time. Hopefully it's not meatspace issues or anything. Hopefully it's not hate either. Hey I'm not a bad guy. Nothing we write here is going to save one life. I just don't get it. I want an apology, but I don't demand it, but what I do demand is that you don't do this again, please. Herostratus (talk) 05:05, 6 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
