About the translation of Chinese names

[edit]

I know the ANN translates 凰 鈴音 as Lin Yin Fang, but I don't know Why ANN do so. It isn't right in either Mandarin Ch. or Cantonese, even Japanese. The pronunciation of her family name in ori. novel, seems that pronouncing "Huang" in Mandarin Ch. which spelled in Katakana as ファン. So if there no official name is available, I do suggest the standard romanization of Mandarin Ch.. --talk 7:56, 20 Jan 2011 (GMT+9)

For referencing purposes, it is romanized as "Rinin Fan" in the light novels. --生け 02:33, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That's just like the difference between "Cecilia Alcott" and "Seshiria Orukotto". Is the novel officially published in English ver.? --talk 14:05, 20 Jan 2011 (GMT+9)
That difference is just a matter of whether you romanize the entire thing character-for-character or not. And no, the light novels aren't in English. But since the anime adaptation has been licensed, I expect we'll be seeing official romanizations in the near future. --生け 11:32, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It seems many people don't understand Chinese language, at least Pinyin and the rules of romanizing Chinese names. I also worry about the official romanizations would be wrong. Can't help. I can just do which in my power. --talk 7:46, 22 Jan 2011 (GMT+9)
A screenshot from randomc.net shows that the anime romanizes it as "Fan Rinin." 68.173.129.44 (talk) 05:42, 22 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yukihira Type 2 - Upgraded or same version as the one used by Chifuyu

[edit]

From what Ichika says in episode 2: Translation "Yukihira type 2? Yukihira... Wasn't that the weapon Chifuyu-nee used?" Even if you just note the sentence in pure Japanese language. Ichika referes to Yukihira type 2 and Yukihira used by chifuyu name with the difference of "type 2". This leads me to believe that Yukihira type 2 is an upgraded version of the Yukihira Chifuyu Orimura used. Maybe the same class but definitely different versions or types. "Type 2" simply refers to the transformtion it went under when his IS calibrated to him, or at least, thats how I see it. 184.98.191.27 (talk) 08:22, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Can someone tell me how closely the anime follows the original? And if the original continues after the end of the anime? Just curious to see if it would be worth my time to hunt down the original 97.117.208.202 (talk) 00:12, 13 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

i think the anime follows the light novels pretty closely, and yes the last episode of the anime is only the end of vol. 3 of the light novel. the OVA is based on vol. 4, and there are still 2 more volumes to go. ..::Gradient93::.. 18:45, 26 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Baka-Tuki (http://www.baka-tsuki.org/project/index.php?title=Main_Page) has translations for 7 volumes of Main Story and 2 of apparently 3 volumes of Side Story. As nearly as I am able to determine, even though there hasn't been a Light Novel in over a year (April 2011 was the latest, a new one is LOOONG over-due), the Manga is still running.75.92.217.27 (talk) 00:46, 15 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

IS (Infinite Stratos)Infinite Stratos – Although "IS (Infinite Stratos)" seems to be the official name, the WP:COMMONNAME is just "Infinite Stratos" - shown through various sources, including IMDb, Anime News Network, Crunchyroll, Siliconera, Gematsu etc. The body of the article already uses only the "Infinite Stratos" name primarily.

Additionally, more complications arise as the current name is marred by technical restrictions (actual article title should be at "IS <Infinite Stratos>") - thus this move would also solve that issue. Satellizer (´ ・ ω ・ `) 01:05, 12 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
